《My Little Husky Assistant》Chapter 37: My Beloved Little Husky Assistant

Jaeger carved a temporary sinister smile on his fierce face. He watched the scenery with buildings collapse and his vampire followers and his creations crawled through the city like thousands of termites nestling in rotten wood. He took a silver rod-shaped whistle and blew it before it could alarm the whole manoeuvre to come to an abrupt halt.
"My fellow vampires and beloved children of my creation, we'll set an adventure to Vampire over Vehicle, the vampire fortress!" Jaeger depicted with his loud hoarse voice then he picked up Ryuuchiro's, laying in front of his feet and aimed it ahead. "March!!"
The vile grey vampires including small and giant arachnids randomly marched forward without forming lines or troops.
_______________
"Fire!" The old human general shouted while pointing his long katana with black sheath at the gigantic black wolf.
Available tanks rotated their barrels to the wolf and launched their ammo followed by the loud banging sound of the projected missiles being knocked inside the barrel. The manoeuvre of black hawks hovered in a circle above the wolf and fired him with the guns carried beside their bodies. Machine gun users who rode in helicopters fired at the vicious and raging wolf. The wolf roared in fury as the bullets kept flying and penetrating his body.
The black wolf wagged its seven black thick tails and bowed its gigantic head. It opened its jaws and a light-blue ball of electricity with buzzing lightning striking every surface of its mouth and launched it onto a troop of soldiers battling with vampire soldiers. The whole troop died of electrocution and the vampires immediately turned to dust.
Nobara dashed to the human soldiers base and confronted the general. "General Akimura, you need to retreat before the VSO loses more soldiers and arms! If Ryuuchiro is here, he will be ordering the same wishes. Retreat and give up on the wolf and the vampires! The sentinels can handle everything!"
Nobara involuntarily kneeled down while clutching her chest and pant in pain. General Akimura squatted beside her and supported her when she was in need of standing. She panted as if she was on the moon without an oxygen tank and the general rested her against his bosom. He watched her sweat trickling on her scalp and onto her neck.
"Nobara-sama, you need to rest," Akimura insisted.
"The wolf, don't kill him-" she pressed her chest as the pain in the chamber of her heart stung her and panted wearily. "He is my dog and my best friend- the vampire turned him into the vicious CavenRaven with the viruses. I'm sure that I'm not mistaking it."
Akimural embraced her as she lost her strength to stand properly. She groped his sleeves and clenched her teeth in exasperation. She panted wearily and she turned to the giant wolf with her teary eyes scrutinizing his pain. Victoria landed in front of Akimura like a seagull plunged into the sea and glanced at Nobara.

"Ms Tachibana, Tsukiyama, he has a nightmare and you must awaken him before his fear of the nightmare takes over your heart and soul. He is a man-eating demon, he might corrupt your physical body," directed Victoria and stared at Akimura. "I believe that you're the general and I demand an instant retreat for the whole troops! Let the sentinel handle the CavenRaven and the vampire."
Victoria took Nobara's arm and wrapped it around her shoulder. She stole her from Akimura and carried her along. He sighed and glanced at his assistant, the young woman. She nodded in response to his nodding signal. The woman blew the retreat bugle for a minute. The whole troops returned to their base as soon as they heard the sound of the battle bugle being blown once again.
The CavenRaven wolf charged another lightning ball and fired it at the hovering black hawks and helicopters as they moved away from him. The flying aircrafts exploded in the air. Only a few survivors managed to escape and floated down with their colourful parachutes.
Victoria fell as Nobara's heavy and big body weakened. She panted as if the air was inadequate. She laid her on the grassy ground and demanded her to rest. Victoria escaped from her view and joined the other sentinels.
Era summoned huge vines and wrapped them around the wolf's limbs and bunched them together before his heavy body collapsed on the ground, creating vibration. She tied his snout and clasped his jaws together using thick floral vines. The giant canine growled and snarled, his seven tails wagged and hit the ground heavily.
_______________
Ruthbert and Hayabusa sneaked into a small laboratory, enough for an amateur to do their research and experiment. It was full of colourful potions, different glasses and tubes, pile of research books and experimental apparatus. They saw a bubbling brilliant pink chemical in a 250cm³ measuring cylinder, exuding excessive white smoke as it was being heated on the stand. Ruthbert found two gas masks and took them as a reward for finding the dubious laboratory. He threw one to Hayabusa but he growled and snarled in anger.
"If you wish to get a new apprentice to replace your title then I allow you to not wear the mask," Ruthbert said sarcastically.
Hayabusa growled and fitted the mask on his long snout. Ruthbert wore them and examined and shook every chemical in every glass tube which rested on their wooden platform. He locked his eyes at the mesmerising boiling pink chemical which exuded highly acidic white fumes which forced him to wear a goggle.
Hayabusa strolled while scanning every chemical and mineral in the laboratory. There on a table against the wall, a series of glass dishes with a sample of silvery metal coated with viscous oil on each dish were aligned vertically. He read the vague symbol written on the paper underneath the transparent dish and he read the final dish which was written as the symbol Fr. He didn't know what they meant. He saw a warning notice which was stated as: no contact with water.

He scratched his head and took the silvery metal which was stated as Fr with a tong. He threw it into the wet sink and inquisitively stared. His forehead wrinkled as nothing happened. He walked away and didn't realise that the oil coating of the metal exposed the metal to the humid air and exploded in a second. He turned back as he heard a cracking sound and he saw fire in the sink.
Ruthbert glared at Hayabusa as he stared at him and smiled nervously. Ruthbert rolled his eyes and dropped 1cm³ of a sample of the pink chemical into a glass tube. He flipped the yellowish page of the opened book on the table and read the content. The pink chemical was an antidote for the infectious disease and he realised it because the procedure stated was a process of making a drug as he saw a picture of two similar compounds which were the mirror image of each other. One of them was stated as optically active.
He turned back as he heard someone was clearing his throat. His short hair was white and his ears were pointed and his eyes were red. Ruthbert remembered the man as one of the vampire lords in the castle. The vampire lord chuckled and walked closer to him.
"I made these potions for the infected humans who live here and this new boiling potion is my new research on a new antidote for the CavenRaven and it is incomplete. I realise some of them are pets so I want to cure them," the vampire lord explained with a sympathetic face written on his face.
Ruthbert tapped on his shoulder. "You forgot about the animal's DNA. Do you have a book about canines?"
_______________
The wolf struggled as he was tightly held by the thick and stout vines together with rain water pouring above him from the dark clouds floating above him. Victoria returned to Nobara and demanded her to awake her demon from his deep sleep. Nobara weakly turned her head to the wolf and cried. She sat up slowly and beat her chest with her fist.
"Tsukiyama, wake up!! You troublesome demon!! Wake up!!" Nobara screamed while beating her chest, repetitively.
She felt her strength had returned and black shadows grew behind her back. Victoria was glad but didn't show a smile on her face. She and Nobara immediately marched to the wolf.
The wolf forced itself to stand and tore the stout vines. He jumped and shook the cloud until they faded into water vapour. He roared and hit the wall of the castle. He viciously bit every vampire in his sight and destroyed the whole castle. Nobara was fed up and she was furious. Crimson flame burnt her body and her amber cold eyes glared at the raging giant wolf. Thousands of javelins appeared behind her and she sent these to the wolf, stabbing every part of his body. With tears flowing on her cheek and wrath filled her heart, she attacked the wolf with repeated rain of javelins and samurai.
Ruthbert and Hayabusa rushed into the scene and alerted Nobara with the pink potion in a huge glass syringe with large needles. Ruthbert lent the pink potion to her and ordered her to feed it to the wolf. Nobara nodded and seized the glass syringe and sprinted to the wolf. The wolf raised weakly with its four limbs shaking as blood kept pouring out from his wounds. He pant wearily and collapsed on the ground.
Nobara came running to him, accompanied by the other sentinels. She went to his neck and stabbed his glowing violet veins and injected the pink chemical into it. She stepped back as the wolf jumped and roared in a rage. It roared and snarled then fell heavily on the ground. His huge body melted into a blackish and sticky mud. The mud spreaded all over.
In the middle of the huge pool of mud, Nobara saw a tiny furry black figure laying with the mud stuck on its furs. She cried and rushed to the figure. It was her little puppy, Yuu. He was bleeding and he pant wearily. Nobara lifted him up and embraced him, neglecting the filthy black mud from sticking on her skin. She shook his body slowly then he opened his eyes slowly.
"Oh, Yuu," she cried and kissed his tiny snout.
She covered his bleeding wound but his blood still flowed and trickled on her arm. She embraced him like an infant.
"Nobara-sama," Yuu said weakly. "Forgive me and I love you since the first time our eyes met. And Nobara-sama, thank you for having me in service, forgive me for those tears."
"What are you talking about? You need to get some treatment and-" Nobara paused as she watched him close his eyes slowly even though he was still breathing.
"Can you sing that lullaby for me?" Yuu asked slowly.
Nobara cried and nodded. She patted his filthy fur while kissing his head.
"Dar'ln, don't be afraid,
I'm right here, beside you,
Wipe away your tears-" she paused as she sobbed and sniffed.
"And gaze upon the stars,
I'll light up your darkness with my candle,
I promise you I'll stay even when you close your eyes~" she sobbed as she continued the lullaby and shook his body slowly as it stopped moving; he stopped breathing.
"You're evil, you never listen to my lullaby till the end. Have a nice rest, my little husky assistant, have a nice rest, my beloved adorable puppy," she kissed his head. "Remember that, I always love you."
She cried silently while embracing her little puppy.

Delve
Summary – Level 1: Delve is an isekai litrpg that follows an average guy who just happened to wake up in a forest one day. He wasn’t summoned to defeat the demon lord or to save the world or anything like that, at least as far as he can tell. The only creature there to greet him was a regular old squirrel. Soon enough, he meets other people, only to discover that he can’t speak the language, and that not everybody immediately trusts random pajama-wearing strangers they met in the middle of the wilderness. Things generally go downhill from there, at least until the blue boxes start appearing. Delve is a story about finding your way in a new, strange, and dangerous world. It’s about avoiding death, figuring out what the heck is going on, and trying to make some friends along the way. It’s not about getting home, so much as finding a new one. Did I mention that there will be math? Summary – Level 2: Okay, but what are you in for, really? Well, this story is supposed to be realistic, or at least, as realistic as a fantasy litrpg can be. The main character doesn’t instantly become an all-powerful god and murder-hobo his way across the universe. Delve is, at its heart, a progression fantasy, but that progression is meant to feel earned. The numbers in this story actually mean something. Everything is calculated, and if you find a rounding error, I expect you to tell me about it. That said, if math isn’t your cup of tea, there is plenty more that the story has to offer. Characters are meant to feel real, and progression isn’t only about personal power; it’s also about allies, connections, and above all, knowledge. Figuring out how the system works is a significant theme. ... What, you want more details? Okay, fine, but this is going to get a bit spoiler-y. Are you sure? Yes! Really sure? I mean, this summary is practically half as long as the first chap– Now! Okay, okay! The main character becomes a magic user, but he takes a route that is not very popular in adventurer culture, namely that of a support. There is a full magic system with various spells, skills, and abilities, but our MC decides that aura magic is the way to go, and that the only stat worth investing in is mana regeneration. Most people at the Adventurer’s Guild think that this makes him a bit of a dumbass, but he’s playing the long game. We’ll see how that works out for him, won’t we? Because of his build, the MC levels up fast, at least compared to normal people. There are no cheats, though, and he is limited in other ways. There are some clear and pretty obvious downsides to his build. That’s what makes it fun, no? Morals? Our MC has them. Again, we’ll see how that works out for him. Realism, remember? Would you be okay with killing someone and looting their body? I sure hope not. POV? The focus is on the main character, but there will be occasional varying perspectives from people around him, or involved in the events related to the main plot. It isn’t going to jump all over the place. Tech is standard medieval stasis. No smartphones, but the MC does have a technical background. Computers and their programming might be involved. There might even be a bit of uplifting down the road, who knows? Anyway, it isn’t the focus. He isn’t going to invent the gun in chapter 1 and change the face of warfare. Romance is not a major focus. Friendships are more the name of the game, though there will be some characters in romantic relationships. There is exploration, though not as much of the geographical nature as you might expect. It is more about exploration of the system and the culture. The pace is slow and detailed, sometimes verging on slice-of-life. The action is meant to be realistic and grounded in the numbers, and it is intended to have meaning beyond simply punching things until they stop moving. The general tone of the story is grey, and some parts can get quite dark. People die. Sometimes, people with names, but not anywhere near GoT level. There is plenty of light, too, though, to balance the darkness. The world is dangerous, but overcoming that danger is why we’re all here, isn’t it? Anyway, if you’ve made it this far through the summary, you clearly like words. I hope you enjoy the story! Cover by Miha Brumec Summary Updated: 2020-06-14
