《The Royal Mage》Chapter Twenty Four^

"Okay so the Death class of spell casting have two subclasses and they are broken down like this. Class one accidental death spells and purposeful death spells. The first one goes you cast the spell for maybe a helpful situation and because of the variables stated earlier it backfires, second Purpose death, you meant to cast a death spell and you were quite happy with the outcome. Now there are three types of death spells and they are, Outwards death, Inwards death, and Mass death.
"Now outwards death spells, you either do these by accident or you meant to cast them and they cause the death of someone you're facing or was in the room with you. Inwards death, either by accident or the person meant for this, which is never the case, the spell backfires and the person that cast the spell dies. Lastly Mass death either by accident or it was meant to happen, the person takes out everyone in the room or if you're in an open space, they take out everyone within a certain distance from themselves."
"Now I'm sure you notice but delving into the fifth class is like sitting another exam and I will say you're going to write all of this, or I will accidentally cause your deaths." Rime arched a brow and Cyra giggled making the woman smile "Now there are counters for death spells, the ones that are cast on purpose a simple protection spell will do, but depending on the level of the death spell is the level of protection spell you will need or you'll be hurt.
"And for accidental death, we have recollection spells, which are class two spells and are used so the person that cast it can see what happened in the room or area, this is used by law men most times. And another counterspell is a Revival spell and this spell is restricted to people such as the Arch Mage, The Emperor, The Empress, The dean of the Royal academy , the Temple's head Priestess and our Lycan.
"To cast this spell it takes great power and great knowledge for it to come out perfectly, people found casting this spell without permission will be punished, either by death, some time in prison or a fine. Okay so when death is caused accidentally say in a building before the revival spell can be cast, a seal must be created so when the revival is cast we don't resurrect someone that died in the first war. Now since the sealing spell is a class two spell, depending on the size of the seal it only needs one or two person's to cast it.
"And you can either create a seal by using things such as chalk, salt, sad and so on or you can do a body seal, which is a group of people can link their hands and form a circle around the blast area, someone will chant whatever they need to and then the seal will be formed.
Okay so after the seal is formed, the person doing the revival spell needs to cast it and they would already be in the blast area before the seal went up, I'm not going to teach you a revival spell because it is for the Arch Mage to decide whether or not he wants you to learn it."

Rime and Cyra nodded and the woman stepped down from the stand "let's go get something to eat and then we shall return to class because the next step I have to show you is the practical side of spell casting." When she lead them out of the class they appeared on the rooftop and she went into the cafe, leaving them to sit outside.
It was a few minutes before she came walking out carrying two plates that she placed in front of Cyra and Rime "Okay so you've got two chicken Caesar wraps each-" Rime watched as she held out her hands and two glasses appeared in them "and we have some peach bubble tea, so eat quickly and we'll get back to work."
Rime watched as she disappeared and the turned to his food, he and Cyra wasted no time in eating out their food, when they were finished they got up and went to the rails on the roof so they could look out at the vibrant wild life that surrounded the castle. Cyra stood on the rail and closed her eyes letting the breeze rush through her hair as she and Rime found comfort in the silence that washed over them, but it was cut short when the woman returned.
"Alright kids let's go." They followed her into the classroom that was now missing the board, chairs and anything else that would make it a classroom. Instead it was once again the open area that was surrounded by floating books, Rime and Cyra's notebooks appeared in their hands along with their pens. "Okay so when the testing begin you will have to cast spells from each class, yes that includes death, but don't worry the dean and Arch Mage will be present in case anything happens."
"Okay so you will need to cast four spells from class one, three from class two, two from class three, two from class four and one from the death class." Rime and Cyra took their notes "Okay so before you begin the testing they will give you a sheet, that will say Class one, then a big space, then class two and it goes on like that. So in these spaces you will list the spells you'll be casting for each and I'll tell you the spells you will cast, for the first one You'll cast the Fertilizer creation spell, the flour creator spell, the water well spell and ink creator spell."
"The second class you'll be doing the Inkwell spell and it is somewhat similar to the water well spell, next the page copier spell, and finally the cleaning spell. Class three the Fireball spell and the water orb spell, class four The heal spell and the blessing, class five the life drain spell." She looked as Cyra and Rime took there notes "okay so as for the spells you're casting they will instantly make the ingredients appear it is up to you to do the preparation and casting."
When they were finished they looked at her "Okay so the fertilizer spell is one of the most simple spells out there and it only requires four ingredients, one you need seeds any type of seeds from any plant, then you need dirt, you need a small amount of cow droppings and some water." As she spoke the ingredients appeared "then you need a bucket, the size of the bucket will decide how much fertilizer you make and since it's just a test we'll use a small bucket so you can get maybe two or three handfuls of fertilizer."

The bucket appeared and the ingredients floated into it, and the woman moved to stand over the bucket "It makes life for grow for us to eat, so make it quick and make it sweet." She stepped back and Rime and Cyra watched as the bucket spun for a few seconds and then it stopped and the smell of fresh fertilizer took over the room. "You see it's that simple and just a side note this spell was invented by our first, in fact most of the simpler ones were."
"Next we have the flour creator spell, now this one was used when all you had were wheat and we didn't have anything to eat, none of the fields or fruit were ready and we were out of bread and making it would take too long. So all you need is some wheat, again throw it in the size bucket of the amount of flour you want and say Bread you make, so grind yourself and we can bake." Once again the bucket spun and then it stopped to show that it was filled with flour.
"Okay next one is the water well and all you need is a small glass of water, place it in the center of a tub and say Flow like a river flows to the sea, flow in the basin so you may flow in me." At first nothing happened and Rime looked up at the woman who pointed at the glass making him look down, the glass began to shake and then the glass began to overflow all the water pouring into the tub. The glass didn't budge no matter how much the tub filled until the water was balancing on the edge of the tub and the glass came floating to the top.
"Now for the last spell for class one which is the ink maker, ink is a very complex thing to make in some cases, because the ingredients also need to be made before you can make the ink.
Okay so we're not going to look at making the ingredients but just the ink, okay so we need an egg yolk, gum Arabic, honey and black dye.
We're gonna put all of that stuff in a small pale, and say black as night, black to write, create yourself to paint a picture with a thousand words." The bucket shook and then stopped, Rime and Cyra watched as the pale was filled with ink.
"See now that is all for class one let's move on to class two."
^^^
Rime pushed open the door and walked into a class where he saw the Arch Mage, the dean and the spell instructor all standing waiting on him. The woman was short with her black hair pulled into a braided bun and her brown eyes were rimmed with a thick line of coal and her lips were painted in red. She gave him a soft smile and reached out to collect the paper he was carrying "ah wise choices you have made, I hope you're successful in casting your spells."
The ingredients appeared and one by one he smoothly carried out each spell for class one and each time the woman wrote something down a notepad she was carrying around. He moved on to class two and the ingredients for ink well appeared, which was a glass of water and a glass of ink placed in a bucket and he chanted "Flow as black as the night, take this space as yours and flow till you can flow no more." The ink bubbled and then went over into the glass of water, the two swirling around each other before the glasses over flowed and the bucket was filled with ink.
The teacher nodded and wrote something down before the ink vanished and was replaced by a single page and Rime got on his knee and placed a finger on the page. "May one become two and two become many, so that this place may be filled with more than plenty." He slowly rose with his finger on the page and as he did papers started to appear above it until the page stopped as high as he could raise with his finger still resting on it.
With a click of the Arch Mage’s finger the room was a filthy mess filled with garbage and was taken over by a foul smell, Rime coughed and hissed "Make this mess disappear, make it as if it was simply never here." The room was clean again and Rime stopped to take in a few breaths making the instructor giggle and the Arch Mage give him an unimpressed look.
It was nothing for Rime to burn through the other spells but soon he was standing under a small dome, where a sheep that reeked of death was barely standing on its feet. He clasped his hands together and closed his eyes "Reverse the pain, reverse the sick and make this creature whole again." A bright light appeared and engulfed the sheep and when it disappeared the sheep started to bleet and jumping around.
And then he was told to drain the life from the sheep and he did just that without a blink of his eye.

A World With or Without Aliens
Nothing matters. It's not my opinion, it's a scientific fact. This is neither good nor bad, it just... is. I watched my entire country burn, fried on a patriotic pan after some jerk fired a bunch of nukes at the docile fleet of alien ships hovering over us. Who gave this moron such power? I don't know. Everyone involved is most likely dead by now. As for me, I can't die. I feel pain like a normal person would (I think), but no matter how terrible the conditions, I will never die or pass out. Fortunately, a lot of alien technology survived its crash to Earth, so I get to spend some time playing with it until Mr. Author gets bored and decides to screw up my life. Beware, this has a "harem" tag. If you haven't figured it out yet, I'm the main character and am therefore subject to this novel's timeline. While this bars me from the sweet ignorance of Chapter 1's me, it does have other perks... for example, I can tell you that heroine number one is personally responsible for kil-!? H-hey, back off! I'm your character, so if you didn't want me to be like this, then you should've written me differently! Randomguy here! In all seriousness, this novel is meant to explore the concept of nihilism as a post-apocalyptic/supernatural-scifi/satire told from a nihilistic introvert's first-person perspective. As you heard from my unsettled main character, each heroine is going to be a different type of horrifying socio/psychopath with dark motives and dangerous abilities (most of which are psychological). Why would I do something like this? Because I am, in reality, a nihilist who is often frustrated by weird things, like unrealistically dramatic stories, the industrialization of art (specifically music), and people who think swimming in brown creekwater for five hours is a "fun" activity. Don't get me wrong, neither me nor my character are depressed, we're just malcontents who make a lot of nerd references. I feel like the true essence of an "everything is worthless" perspective is lost on most pop-culture figures. The closest character I can think of at the moment is Rick from Rick and Morty, who is a drunk, angry nihilist that experienced tremendous loss. I, personally, find this belligerent state of mind to be very relatable, and have incorperated it into every chapter's introduction. Here, the main character talks directly to the reader (and me), shamelessly complaining about some semi-relevant facet of society, which probably doesn't make much sense... it's not really supposed to, though. These "angry nihilist" moments are just a peak into the main character's everyday existence, and also act as miniature rage-journals for me. It will sometimes take a subjectively 'positive' turn, but not very often. This is because reality isn't good or bad, "it just... is". I will eventually bring it full-circle to optimistic nihilism, since that seems to be a more practical way to live (and by "practical", I mean "doesn't create mental health issues"). It is, of course, a satire. I did this because most unnecessarily emotional moments or people usually make me feel kind of awkward, so I decided to mock them. That is, I plan to mock the characteristics about them I don't like in characters based solely off said characteristics. Thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoy my story!
