《Re:Hammer - The Hammering》Chapter 15

The patrol was simple and easy, so Emia rolled in three hours later with a smile. She had been working on the farm most of her life before she took to the convent, so physical fitness was never in doubt. A box popped up telling her the patrol quest had been completed and she got some xp and money from that. The xp wasn’t enough to get to 100% since she had a decent high level, but there was money. So, after she returned to her dorm, she decided to go to the shop and check the place out.
There wasn’t a great deal of money, so she couldn’t buy much, but one thing she could buy was a D-rank dungeon key. It sounded interesting so she bought it and entered the place. From there she was brought into a whole new realm, which amazed her! She was transported into some sort of bubble in which ohhgodspeoplewereshootingather!
She got hit a few times and her health dropped a lot before she managed to dive for cover and panic. This was so realistic she was in pain from the bullets and everything! She frantically dug into her inventory and pulled out the laspistol and the Troll Drenger gun from it, leaning up and blowing one of the cultist’s heads off with the Troll Drenger. Though the second shot was not forthcoming because it was a single round. What kind of weapon was single round?! That was bullshit!
Her disagreement with the pistol meant she noticed the grenade landing in her midst a little too late, and the next she knew, she was back in her room with a popup telling her she had reduced stats for dying in a dungeon.
“That is bullshit!” Emia exclaimed, spooking a few of her nearby novices and then apologising for spooking them. So the Troll Drenger was a useless gun and the dungeons were merciless and cruel and she needed to keep her head on a swivel or whatever that term that the army people used. “Though….” Emia thought for a moment and then opened the status screen and put 10 into precision, and 30 into constitution. She got a cool pair of boxes that felt very familiar for hitting 50 precision and constitution. Though with the debuff she’d rather not go back there.

Instead, she looked into the job system, and scrolled through it. ‘Gunslinger’ looked cool, so she grabbed it. And then Sniper as well. Though Gunslinger focused pistols and Sniper focused Longarms, the two would synergy well to deal with multiple ranges. That would also deal with the trouble of her not being able to level because she needed to pick up a job. Finally, she opened the traits list. She was forced to pick an active corruption power before she got to the traits and so just picked up something about kissing. It’s not like she was ever going to use it.Then, she immediately picked up the quick loading. Instant reloading might actually make the Drenger viable, though she’d prefer multi-round weaponry anyway. The next trait was one that seemed helpful. An invisible aide that could shoot a target at the same time as you shot another, or the same. It could be bought a total of three times, so she did. Though, what an Exitus Rifle was, she had no idea. Probably good though.
Next, eight points went into getting level 4 proficiency in both pistol weaponry and longarm weaponry. The bonuses from that were considerable, and though it was a hefty investment, she felt far more confident now she had all this. Next patrol, if they ran into anything, was going to feel the might of...wait, a second. She went into her shop and bought a basic laspistol. Not exactly a great weapon but something better than the single shot drenger she had. Maybe requisition a Longlas later on so she didn’t have to explain where she suddenly got one of them from.
A few traits in her back pocket in case she needed them, and still a nice cache of stats, she would go about her day, practicing, praying, and being a good servant about the place. She was worrying about the impending day of debauchery, but she would probably be able to find herself somewhere to hide when that happened.

Dauntless: Origins
Snow white hair, blue eyes, pale. Devil, monster, mutt, failure. This story follows one Tyr Faeron, crown prince, heir primus and mass murderer. A wrathful, angry, and lost young man that has made it his goal to hunt down the men that killed his mother - and he is on the cusp of finishing the promise he'd made before her cairn stones so many years ago. On the surface he is duplicitous, whimsical, and base of cunning - but within the depths beyond the many masks he wears, something is waiting. Waiting for an end, the end he'd come to long for, whether it be to himself or any possible threats in his vicinity. After that long labor of vengeance is completed... Nobody knows, not even him - an arrogant and otherwise solitary individual with nothing in the way of friends - only the brothers of the blackguard who follow him through life as he pursues this mission. He was born a prince, but he'd be called a disappointment - failing to manifest the great power that he was born to before being summarily discarded by his father, a 250 year old 'primus'. That word again... Men who can shatter mountains and level cities, that's what he was supposed to be. Some call them demi-gods, all Tyr sees is a poor excuse for a parent. Time had made him bitter, cruel, and arguably psychotic - seeing only enemies wherever he looks. They'd come for him, too, one day - to wipe the slate clean and make room for another - and it's his conviction to ensure that he dies while taking as many of those rats with him. This is a story about finding acceptance, growth, and understanding - from the point of view of a cold and brutal individual who wears many masks. Of someone who was born to be the greatest emperor the eastern continent has ever seen - but he failed in that. Strong, yes, but only in the context of a man - Tyr's magic is weak. His convictions are weak. He has been made a beast of instinct by loss and a constant confronting of his own impotency in the face of his father. A mythos that stretches across planes, of magic, a pantheon of cruel gods. Of someone who's dedicated his entire mind to the art of killing a man, and none to living a normal childhood or coming to understand friendship, empathy, or compassion. The first five years of his life a mystery, a hole none have ever been willing to fill, leaving him warped and twisted. His formative years gone and what must've been most of his humanity along with it. Now 17, he is on the cusp of leaving the city he'd never been permitted to leave for what might be the first time in his life. Always searching, though he won't know what for, for some time. An episodic that follows experience and symbolism rather than a never ending series of battles - where the conflict lay in constantly searching for wholeness in lieu of great villains or heroes. This is where it all started, the origin, the tale told a million times - and yet it hadn't been, 'reality' is tricky like that. The greatest lie ever told by the tongue that speaks is that any of this was real at all.
