《Shadow's World》first day of school.

Kid’s POV

Ugh, today is the first day of school. I might just skip the opening ceremony since I doubt they would be must use for me. Year two, the year I get to my team. The idea I have to spend more time with my sister is filling me with dread. I can hear my parents making breakfast. They are funny people. They know I will cook and clean before going to school and they don’t to weak up before me. It isn’t like the ceremony is soon. Let me get up before they get concern that I’m saying inside of my room.

I got up and make some noise while getting dress. I need them to hear me. As I’m getting dress, I notice a spider sitting on top of my dress. The spider is sitting there, watching me. What is weird that the spider is eye is following me. And there is a skull on its back. The spider was pure black beside the skull, which was red. The spider is just sitting menacing. It isn’t an enormous spider; it is smaller than one of my fingernails. But the way it is looking at me is so creepy. I walk over to it and flick it away. Ok, done. I finish getting dress and walk into the kitchen.

“Hello, mom, dad, why did you guys get up so early?” I ask my parents.

My mom replies, “Alexander, we are here to convince you to reject your sister as your teammate.”

Alexander’s POV

“It’s fine I have ways to deal with her, don’t worry.” As I sit at the table to eat breakfast.

My father replies, “You say that and just a year ago you try to help her from bullies and she attacks you with them. You should know better, but you have a good heart and need to be reminded that your sister isn’t a kind person. Please, we are asking for you to stay out of her way so you won’t get hurt again.”

“I’ve spent the last year learning about erica and training. This year is going to be different. I even found 6 books that she will be interested in and can be delivered within a few days when called, if I ever needed.” My mom walks up and hugs me from behind.

“Good job, son. Figuring our out how to deal with your sister.” She rubs my head.

“About time you figured out your sister. Alexander, this is your biggest weakness. You are so obsessed with your goals you ignore people around you. I bet if you forgot your goals or change them, your sister wouldn’t be such a big problem with you. Like the fight that happens last year. If you actual pay attention you wouldn’t have to help her and let her deal with the problem. But you are young and still growing. I just hope your obsession doesn’t steer you wrong.” He replies before taking a big bite of pancakes.

“Oh, I’m going to skip the opening ceremony.”

The both of my parents pause.

“Alexander! Are you being influenced by your sister? You are going to the opening ceremony like it or not,” my mom yells.

“Wait, I’m not going because I don’t be the center of attention. All they are going to do is parade me around and I don’t want to deal with that like last year.”

“Oh, sorry. Yeah, we remember last year and how they treated you. You look so uncomfortable up there. I forgot about that. Well, you can skip the opening ceremony this year. But you have to go to school and stay away from your sister. I don’t want her influencing you. We know you guys have been working together. This is unhealthy. Stay away from her. Please.” My mom asking me in with tears in her eyes.

“I will try my best, promise.”

My mom cheers up and adds syrup to my pancakes. Too bad I still need her. This is the only promise I can’t keep.

“Do you want me to take you to school? Or are you fine going by yourself? Your sister will not get up for another few hours.” My dad asks.

“No, I got it. It should take me an hour to get there. Since I’m skipping the open ceremony I don’t have to worry about the time.”

He nods his head and goes back to eating. My mom sits down and starts eating as well. We talk about movies as we ate breakfast. I don’t really like movies, but I know that my mom and dad loves them. So I force myself to watch random movies that they are interested in so I can make conversation with them.

After we finish breakfast, I help them clean up the kitchen. This was going to be the only family time we were going to have until the school lets out for the summer next year. I am going to miss them for a year. This vacation with them was really nice. I wish it was longer but alias it is time for school once again.

After finish cleaning up, I go inside of my room and there is a spider hanging on the fan. This spider differs from the other one. But it feels similar to the other spider I flick away. This one was much bigger than the size of a golf ball but it isn't black and with a red skull on its abdomen. This one is really colorful and doesn’t look as evil as the last one. I ignore this one. It just feels so weird that these spiders are following me with their eyes today. Like they were sent to watch over me. I got my bags and carried them outside.

“Son, are you sure you don't want us to take you to school? You are going to be running with a bunch of bags on your back as well. I rather just take you in the car.” My dad says.

“Dad, stop worrying it is only going to take me an hour to get to school. I will be there in no time. And this weight isn’t nothing to be worried about. You should know this. I promise I will stay safe.

Before they say anything more, I yell goodbye and run to school.

I told them it would take me an hour, but it took 30 minutes. I pushed myself a lot harder than they would have accepted.

It was still dark when I arrived at school. There are plenty of advantages when coming to school so early in the morning. It is still summer but early in the morning wasn’t so hot and there aren’t many people walking around the school. In two to three hours, they will crowd this place with parents and their kids. Especially the freshmen. I remember last year. They dressed me up and had to deal with all the parents and teachers. Have the other parents compare me to their kids. They all want me to be an exemplary role model for their kids. I’m so glad that the ceremony is primary for the freshman and the upperclassmen don’t have to take part in these activities. I don’t I could take that ceremony for four years. Open the doors to the school and walk to the outside training area in the middle of the school.

Once I got there, I pull out most of the stuff that was in my bag. IT was my own weights. These are my personal weights I made. Well, I had help from my sister, but I rather pretend I made them on my own. I put 300 pounds on both of my legs and another 200 pounds on my arms. I walk to the track.

One lap on this track is 5 miles long. Most tracks are only a mile long, but this is a training track. We are training to become fighters, not running in a race. We need better endurance than the people playing a sport. I got to work with my workout. In 30 minutes I finish my 30 mile run. It was a good start. I walk over to the pool and take a dive. This place is amazing. It has a poll workout equipment and a track all in one place. There is also a place for elemental training. If we had this at home. I might never come to this dumb school.

But that type of attitude would make my parents upset. They don’t want me to be like my sister and refuse to be around people. I am really luck that this school was so close by. I really need my sister help, and there is no way to allow her and me go to the same school if it wasn’t so close by. They even try to force her to homeschooling but she refuses. Good thing she is uncontrollable. But that is also the bad news as well. I don’t know what she is ever thinking.

Like a few years ago, she didn’t fight her bullies and me because I was trying to help her. She did it because she was being bullied and I was walking past. If someone else was getting bullied, I would help, but not her. She can take care of herself. So she runs past her bullies and punches me. She hits me before I even notice. I fall to the wall and she screams. Teachers walk into the hallway as she is sitting crying with my face planted against the wall and the bullies looking around confuse. She then told the teachers that the bullies beat me up because I was trying to protect her.

My fame inside of the school exploded. The teacher and the other kids loved me. They saw me as a defender of the weak and will get beat up to help someone. It hurt my pride a little. The reason is that I ran into the bullies later and they even brought more of their friends. It only took me a minute to wipe them all up. I didn’t even need to use my elements fighting against 20 people. The school saw me as a weak person but someone who believes in justice and the bullies known me as the person who kicks their asses.

My parents found out about the incident and knew right away I wouldn’t lose to some bullies. So my sister change the story in that I was about to help her when she blindside me. Which is most true, but there was no way would I help someone that can deal with the problem with ease. Or with someone that not only can deal with the problem with ease but also hurt anyone that is trying to help them.

I disappointed our parents that I was still willing to help my sister even though she can take care of herself and that I still don’t understand her true nature even after living these years with her. They still see me as an innocent kid. If they knew what I was really like, it might break their hearts.

I need to stop thinking about my sister. She is like a cancer in my mind. Sometimes I lose focus trying to figure out how to deal with her. Even though she can help achieve my goals. It isn’t good trying to get help from the devil.

It doesn’t matter, she will not be here for hours from now. Heck, I doubt she will come today. She didn’t even come to last year's ceremony. Even though she was second in the up coming freshman class. I need to swim. It helps me forget about my sister.

Churn inside the water doesn’t help me forget about my sister. I swim over to the side and swim to the other side. The water is calming my nerves and makes me forget about everything. Swimming once again reminds me that water is my true element. I just feel so comfortable inside of the water. I will lose hours inside of the water. Today is going to be one of those days as well. I am going to swim way past the time for the ceremony to end. I love spending hours inside of the water. And today is just another day to do it. The summer heat is makes the water comfortable to be in. No one else is going to be inside of the water because they will be at the ceremony. I can swim as fast as I want inside of the water. They will be no disturbance today. I will just swim the day away.

I kept swimming back and forth, sometimes swimming freestyle, other times swimming underneath the water. I stop as the sun was coming up. Watching the sunrise while in the water is one of my favorite things to do. So I put my arms on the side of the pool and look up at the sunrise. I can hear people arriving at the school and whispering. They are all wondering why I, inside of the pool instead of getting ready for the ceremony like everyone else. It is 6:10 and only twenty more minutes before the ceremony began.

“Hi little brother.” I leap out of the pool. I jump thirty feet in the air and look down. My sister is standing next to the pool. I fall back to the ground and lands right beside her. She gives me a look over.

“Little brother, change your cloths and join the ceremony.” I look at her agasp. “What are you doing here and why should I join the ceremony?” I ask, confusingly.

She gives me an evil smile and says, “Little brother, do you know how hard it was to escape that house without our parents noticing? I miss the ceremony last year why would I skip it this year as well?”

I had to stop myself from giving myself a facepalm. I can’t show a sign of weakness in front of her. I have to stay calm and collected. “Sister, first of off, stop calling me your little brother. I only a few days younger than you and there is no way for you want to join this ceremony. Heck, I wasn’t expecting you until tomorrow. If a best. I wouldn’t be surprised you would skip this entire month and come back when we are forced into teams.”

“Little brother, don’t think so little of me?” She looks at me innocently.

I ignore her as the last person walks inside of the school.

“Man, I thought those people would never leave. Can’t have you looking like the bad guy before school even starts. I have been building your reputation for years now, and I don’t want it to be destroyed.” She says as her mannerism turns back to normal.

I sigh. There is no point in arguing with her but I need to know why I have to enter the ceremony today and why she didn’t come earlier.

“My reputation will never be in danger it will not take long for people to learn about you.” I said, as was getting ready to dive back into the water.

“Hey, I already told you. Get your butt ready so we can go to the ceremony.” I stop myself and turn towards her.

“What is the big deal, why are you forcing me to go the ceremony? I know you hate this crap more than I do.”

She sighs. “This is the only way I can build your team. I don’t like how they make teams every year. I research the teams arrangement for the last two decades and they were awful. And I can’t have your team be awful.”

I tilt my head. “Why does my team matter? I am strong enough alone and if you really really wanted to you could always be my wing woman.” I can’t call her a wingman or she would try to put me in a casket.

“Your team isn’t for your benefit but mines. I have made it easier on myself and want to make your team. Do you really have any problems with this?” She asks in a stern tone.

I look at her and say, “Yes, actual. I don’t care about my team. Can I just train in peace. I can just ignore whatever team they give me.”

She glares at me. “I’m not asking. Question me once again and I will tell our parents what you are doing to your body.”

“I give, ok, you are very determined to make my team. Looks like I’m going to have to look after a few people. Ugh, not only that but also have to join this dumb ceremony. Are you coming as well or are you going to stay out here?” I summon a flame to clear all the water off my body.

She sighs. “Yes, I have to come to. This is the only reason I’m here now. If it wasn’t the case, I would have told you yesterday instead of surprising you today. Don’t worry about your clothes. Being in your battle outfit is better for today’s events. You are going to put on a brief show for the entire school.”

Not only do I have to show up, but now I also have to do a song and dance. I give out another sigh. We have only fifteen minutes before the ceremony starts. I need to calm down for a second. Showing off in front of enormous crowds has never been my strong suit.

“Alexander, hurry and lets go. My god little brother stop being such a weakling and get inside of that school so we can get this over with.” She turns and runs inside of the school.”

This girl arrives twenty minutes before the ceremony tells me I have to take part in the event and that I will have to become the major event like last time. Then she tells me to hurry. I turn towards the school and start walking towards the doors when I notice a rabbit and spider from the corner of my eyes. I turn and I see a spider riding on top of a rabbit’s head. This is something new. Why is there a spider riding on top of a rabbit? It is such a strange sight. The rabbit hops away. Wait, I don’t have time to worry about that weird event. If I upset my sister, there will be consequences.

I ran towards the auditorium. I see the room in view and I see my sister glaring at me. Without slowing down, I run through the doors. Wait, why did I do that? My mind was elsewhere. The spider riding on top of the rabbit's head causes my mind to wander for a second, causing me to run straight through the doors. Now the entire school body is looking at me with their parents. Oops.

“Ladies and gentleman, this is Alexander, our ace of the school. He is only a sophomore but in a few years will reach the rank of Elder.” Elder Kyle says as he addresses everyone in the room. He waves for me to come in his direction. My sister is standing behind him, not looking in my direction.

I can feel my face turning red. I walk up to Elder Kyle and stand before everyone. My sister whispers in my ear. “Do the dragon thing, Elder Jessie is being a pain, and he wants a genuine show.”

This woman hates me. Couldn’t I do something simpler? No. Elder Kyle puts his hands on my shoulders and starts talking to the crowd. I ignore every word he says because I have to prepare myself for this little show. I like the elder and really want to listen to what he has to say, but this wasn’t the time for it. If I don’t concentrate now, once I start the show. I might lose consciousness, which would be funny, but it might backfire and cause my sister to get mad.

I take a deep breath. I breathe through my nose and out of my mouth. With each breath, I am slowing down my heartbeat. “Little brother hurry. I am already tired of listening to Elder Kyle.”

This woman is impossible. She wants me to do a super hard techniques and wants me to hurry as well because she hates people talking. I am doing this because of what she wants. If only she didn’t have any of my secrets. It is my own dang fault for being stubborn, but I need to stop worrying about her. Breath Alexander. Feel all the elements. See the image of dragons, six of them, red, blue, purple, yellow, orange, green. I can see them head. A fire dragon, ice dragon, wind dragon, earth-dragon, water dragon and lightening dragon all roaring inside of my head flying around. These dragons appear in my dreams one day and now I can’t get them out of my head. I don’t know where they came from or why I can see them so clearly. I keep dreaming about the strongest fairies.

I nod my head, and my sister kicks Elder Kyle. I know she just stuns the entire crowd, but there is no time for that. Before anyone can react, I stamp my foot on the ground. The floor rumbles. The floor rises from the ground. This is just the start. I open my mouth and flames spew out of it. I stamp my other foot and water rises from the ground. To keep going, I slash one arm, causing a huge breeze. And with the other arm I clench my fist, causing electric to fly.

I think everyone now has total ignore my sister kicking and elder and is looking at me horrified. Well, I didn’t do this display last year. I only showed off one dragon and it wasn’t as violently as this. My parents would have a heart attack if they saw me after this display. I just want to be knocked out for the rest of the day.

I can hear people leaving their seats and trying to exit the auditorium, but it seems Elder Jessie is faster. He uses the radio and force all the teachers to stop the people from exiting. We had an intercom, but there is no way for anyone to hear over the noise I am making. I look up while still breathing fire. Most of the students and their parents were near the exits trying to get past the teachers screaming at them. The screaming slowly stops because each of the elements takes forms. People stop looking so terrified and start looking interested.

The dragons all appear right next to each other. My body is on fire. I am burning up. I can sit inside of a fire but this right now is too much. My entire body screaming at me to stop, but how can I? The show has just started.

The entire auditorium is now in total silence. For some odd reason, once the elements turn into dragons, they stop making noise. I don’t understand why this happens and my sister doesn’t understand either. My parents investigate this matter as well but even they couldn’t find the answer for these phenomena.

People were looking in awe. Wait, give me a second and your face will be on the floor. I raise my hands and the dragons take off. They fly in all directions in the auditorium. People shrink in fear, but as the dragons flew over them, they calm down. The dragons fly over the audience three times. I wanted them not to fear them for the next part. I close both of my hands and all six of the dragons flew up to the ceiling. As the dragons fly towards the ceiling. They all turn to face each other, ready to send their attack.

“Stop!” A black dragon enters my mind. I change their course of the attacks and have them shoot near the ceiling.

They didn’t hit the ceiling with their attacks, but it was close enough for some damage to be done. I could have avoided all damage, but this was funny, and no one is going to charge me for the ceiling damage.

I fall to both of my knees after the dragons damage the ceiling. The dragons disappear. Ok, that took a lot out of me and I can barely see straight. I turn my head and once again I see a rabbit with a spider riding on its head. But both the spider and rabbit are different colors. The rabbit before was black with a white spot under its face with the spider being pure white.

This time the spider is red, and the rabbit is yellow. It looks out of place, but it doesn’t matter. I can feel my sister picking me up.

What was that last dragon? It doesn’t matter, I can hardly stay awake. The entire world spins and it turns dark.

Anansi’s POV

Wow, I mean wow.

“Anansi, what was that? It surprised me, he could see us but this.”

“I know, I know. I do not know.”

“Anansi, you were supposed to be watching this boy. And look at him. He created 6 dragons and control them. He should be dead, wait forget that it shouldn’t even be possible.”

My head was still spinning after that display from Alexander.

“You should thank that black dragon, Anansi. Because I felt something would have happened if the 6 dragons combine their attack. What would have happened anyway?”

“The barrier around the world would fall. The one that keeps all the humans from seeing the natural fairies.”

“Anansi, The Shadow is going to be pissed when he finds out about this boy.”

Ugh, I knew Alexander was going to be powerful, but this powerful? I should have kept a better eye on him like Isis said, but that being said I wonder about the other two. Are they hiding their powers as well?
