Candy's POV
I was on my way to U.A. when I heard a thud. I looked behind me to see a body laying on the ground. "Oof" the girl says.
"Are you ok?" I ask the girl.
"Y-yea, I'm fine" she mutters. I turn around and help the girl up.
"Where are you headed?" I ask looking at her.
"Um, I'm looking for U.A. I'm a transfer student" she explains while looking down.
"Hey! your in luck, I'm heading there too" I smile "wanna walk together?"
"Uh, s-sure" she mutters, and I could tell she was really shy.
"The name's Candy, what's yours?" I ask curiously as I smiled at her.
"N-noya" she stutters.
"Nice to meet you Noya, I hope to be friends" I tell her as I look at her.
"I doubt it" she responds and I frown a bit at this but none the less, I smiled down at her.
"We'll see" Noya and I began to walk to U.A. together. I saw We slowly walk inside U.A. and I look at her. "Noya, you excited?" I ask.
"Y-yea" she says and I jog up to her, having long legs are a perk. "Do you know where class 2-A is?"
"I heard that the hero courses have their class names on the doors, I'm sure we'll find it" I turn and look at her "don't you think we should go see principle Nezu first?"
"Y-yea, I guess your right"
"Come on!" I say excitedly. Noya nods and follows me. As we were walking around, looking for principle Nezu's office, when a white mouse walking on two feet. "Um are we seeing the same thing?" I ask Noya.
"Uh yea, I think...why is there a mouse walking on two feet?"
"Oh! It's principle Nezu!" I exclaim.
Noya's eyes widen "I'm s-so s-sorry for calling you a mouse"
Principle Nezu shakes his head. "It's fine, it's a common mistake" he says jumping up onto my shoulder. "Both of you must be transfer students right?"

"I-I am, but I don't know about him"
"Yea, I am. I'm from Korea actually," I say glancing up at the mouse on my shoulder.
"Alright, well if you give me your names, and I'll tell you your schedules."
"I'm Candy Wong and this is Noya..." I look at Noya, realizing I don't know her last name.
"Yuu, Noya Yuu"
"Alright, please come with me" principle Nezu says. Noya and I walk to his office, principle Nezu still on my shoulder. As we walk into the office, we see a tired looking man inside the office. "Oh, hello Aizawa-san" principle Nezu says not showing any sighs of getting down from my shoulder. Noya looks at everyone in the room, than looks down shyly.
"Principle Nezu, this must be the two new students you were talking about" the tired looking man says. The principle just nods. The tired looking man, stood up and walked towards us. He was almost the same height as me, but was a little taller. "My name is Aizawa Shota, I'll be your homeroom teacher for this year"
"O-ok" I hear Noya mutter, I look at her and realize she's looking at the ground again.
"Why do you keep on looking at the ground?" I ask in a whisper.
"N-no reason" she whispers back to me.
"Ok, but you gotta look up some time or else you might trip," I smile at her bringing my attention back to the teachers. It was than that I realized that the two adults in the room were talking, and that principle Nezu had jumped from my shoulder to Aizawa-sensei's shoulder.
I heard her sigh, than I hear Mr. Aizawa speak up. "Come on, let's get you to class," he says gesturing us to the door. The three of us walk to class 2-A. My eyes widened and my jar dropped, the door was so big.
"Both of you stay here, until I call you in" Aizawa-sensei says. We nod and I turn to Noya.

"Wanna play twenty questions?" I ask.
"What's that?" she asks.
I give her a shocked look but I explain what it is none the less. "It's where we take turns in asking each other twenty questions as a way to get to know each other"
"Oh, uh s-sure"
My eyes sparkled "what's your favorite color?"
"Purple"
"Same, but I'm leaning more towards the pastel shades. It depends on the color through" I explain. She nods and I look at her "ok your turn"
"Um what's your favorite food?"
"Hmmm, anything that's pasta" I said chuckling. "It's funny, how my whole self is based in sweets and candy, but in fact, I don't have a sweet tooth. How about you? What's your favorite food?"
"Uh steak" she responds.
I smile at her "sounds delish, right, what type? I like medium rare"
"Medium" Before I could say anything else, the door in front of us opens.
"You guys can come in" As we walk in, my eyes immediately catch a blond eye with crimson eyes. Noya slowly walks in behind me.
"Who's the extra's?" The blond asks scowling. I was about to say something when Aizawa-sensei beat me to it.
"These are the new transfer students, I told y'all about" The blond just tch's.
"He's cute" I whisper to Noya.
"Too you maybe, but he is kinda rude" she whispers back.
"I'll give y'all a few minutes to get to know each other" Aizawa-sensei says before going to a yellow sleeping. I chuckled at Noya's answer.
"TALL!" I look at the broccoli boy that said that and chuckled.
"YAH!" I respond. I than see Noya go and sit in a desk in the very back.
"SHUT UP DEKU!" I hear the blond shout at the broccoli boy.
"Hey, Noya where ya going?" I ask her. "You can't escape this!" I whine.
"L-leave me alone" she mumbles putting her head down.
"At least an introduction would be nice" I mutter, suddenly finding my feet very interesting.
"You introduce yourself...I can't" she mutters and sighs. I look at her and sigh.
"Oi! You scared extra?" the blond asks.
I turn back to the blond and respond "no"
"Than fucking introduce yourself"
I sighed at his rude attitude, I look up at them. "Hi, I'm Candy Wong, I transferred here from a Korean hero school, I hope we can become friends!" I said flashing them a smile.
"Tch, friends are for the weak" the blond mutters.
"Friends can also make you strong, Mr. Porcupine" I sassed.
"No, they make you fucking weak!" The porcupine says.
"What's your quirk?" Broccoli boy asks.
"Sure whatever you say porcupine" I say and turn to broccoli boy. "My quirk? My quirk has something to do with sweets" I explain.
"Tell me more?" broccoli asks.
"I'd rather keep it a secret" I smirk.
"That's manly!" A red head exclaims.
"Thanks! Nice hair by the way" I told the dude with shark teeth. "I'm calling you Sharky." I glance around "any other questions?" The red head chuckles, and there was no other questions. I walk to the back of the classroom, and sit beside Noya. "Hello, again Noya" I said giving her a smile. She looks at me and nods.
TIMESKIP TO AFTER CLASS
Noya's POV
After class ends I look around not sure what I'm supposed to do next, when I hear someone say something. "Hey Noya!" Candy says.
"Oh hey!" I respond giving him a small smile. I was still getting used to being around him without freaking out.
"I think we're gonna go to gym, so I'll see you there?" he asks.
"S-sure" I mutter and head off to the gym.

A Standard Model of Magic
The world ended, and magic came back. The part our parents didn't expect, was for Science to break on reentry. Twenty years after the apocalypse, with our nations dismantled and hidden continents unearthed, a new generation has grown up in the wreckage of 21st century civilization. For us, the fantastic is at our doorstep and we have had no choice but to fight back. Meanwhile, the laws of nature bend and break at the whims of immortal gods, all of which are now dead and none of which are content to stay that way. But we cannot afford to give up. We are the stewards of a rewritten century, in which a little luck and a whole lot of magic might make anything possible – maybe even a world better than the one we lost. A Standard Model of Magic is a complete overhaul of my old story A Storm in the Fall. I'm afraid I was unhappy with the LitRPG elements, which I don't mind reading, but I apparently loath writing. Sorry. Once I'd made the choice to decouple the story from the OF that inspired it and reconfigure the magic system to my satisfaction, little of the original plotline survived. I will be salvaging most of my original characters, and I will keep some elements which are endemic to the genre, but that is all. I don't have an update schedule which I can commit to yet, but I will try to maintain a weekly pace.(This is currently RoyalRoad exclusive, since I'm lazy. If you find it posted elsewhere, it wasn't me and it wasn't with permission) If you're interested, I've set up a discord.

I Don't Seem So Bright in a Well-Lit Room
The universe is a very strange place. It will take even stranger heroes to save it."Absurd. Existential. Ridiculous. Tragic. Comic. The antiheroes of "I Don't Seem So Bright in a Well-Lit Room" are a kind of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern with space packs, inadvertently colliding with their destinies against a starry background of witty wordplay. With a vision as sprawling and limitless as the loveably goofy universe in which it's set, Browning's wit, wisdom and heart are always at play, combining to form a wonderfully panoramic and very silly heroes' journey that visits every trope of its overlapping genres and draws moustaches on all of them."- Marcel St. Pierre, author of "Vengeful Hank" and "Cliché and Wind Go Hitchhiking".(Sci-fi /Dark Humour/Absurd) *Completed!
