《Stuck in a zombie world with an OP shop》Chapter 32

“Mom, dad!” Ryan says, exasperated at the time he wasted when trying to find his parents.
“Oh my gosh, Ryan,” Ryan’s mother, Rachael, gasps and runs up to Ryan.
“Damn, it’s good to see you again,” Ryan’s father says, slowing walking toward him.
“How’d you get on this island?” Ryan asks and enters a hug with his mother.
“I should be asking you that!” Rachael says. “Mr. Woods took us over on his boat.”
‘Logan…’ Ryan internally groans, thinking about his much more successful classmate. While Ryan was performing maintenance, Logan was designing the things Ryan would later maintain. “That sure is nice of him to help you.”
“Yep, he’s got a real handy class,” Ryan’s father says, stopping a few feet from Ryan and Rachael. “It’s called Prepared.”
“Never mind that, how’d you get here?” Rachael asks again.
Ryan thinks about telling his parents he flew to the island but quickly dismisses the thought. If they knew he could fly, they’d probably want to know all kinds of other things. In fact, Ryan took this approach to many of his accomplishments, he never told his parents about them.
“I swam,” Ryan finally says.
“How’d you swim the whole way?” Ryan’s father, Douglas, asks.
“I got a lot stronger because of my class, so now it’s not hard for me to swim that distance,” Ryan said. He knew some parts of his changed physique would need to be explained. He also waited for when he’d have to explain the assault rifle on his back.
“What class did you get?” Douglas asks.
“I’ve got Explorer,” Ryan says, stating his class as the one Ron had.
“Hey, that’s pretty good,” Douglas says.
“Yeah, that is good,” Rachael says and backs away towards Douglas. “We’ve got a few people here with the class Explorer.”

“Right. Can you use an inventory and crafting menus?” Douglas asks.
“Yeah,” Ryan says, and tries adding the skills. Inventory is a skill, but the crafting gets added as a hack.
Inventory 1, 300 ₵
Craft, 30000 ₵
Obviously, Ryan buys them both and starts to upgrade Inventory.
“Do you mind if we take our son to our tent?” Rachael asks a man behind her.
“Sure, just come back in a few minutes,” The man replies, and walks away. Now, Ryan has upgraded Inventory enough for it to store the assault rifle, and he places it inside.
“Let go meet Logan,” Douglas says and walks towards the center of the island.
With Douglas in the lead, the Stone family walks into the wooded section of the island. After a few minutes, they arrive at a heavily fortified position. Instead of like inside the city where office supplies are being re-purposed as barricades, the fortifications on the island are made from fallen trees and stones.
A tower at the center of the fortification has a man operating a spotlight, and it briefly shines down on Douglas, who waves it away. Douglas is the first to arrive at a wooden gate that gets taken down by a man inside the fort. Once the logs are removed, Douglas, Rachael, and Ryan walk inside.

The Orb Weaver Chronicles
"The Orb Weaver Chronicles contains several major and unique events that may or may not unknowingly intertwines with one another. The author of these chronicles is unknown, although some have hinted at the symbolism behind its name..." - Year unknown, location unknown 9 February 2022 Update: Welcome to the companion short story compilation of my novel trilogy The Shadow Paradigm. This compilation features prequels, sidequels and sequels to the novel's major plotline, as well as featuring a wide range of characters, new and recurring. Prior knowledge of the novel is not necessary as the Orb Weaver Chronicles' short stories are standalone. Once called The Arkesyyan Chronicles, I've deleted quite a few of its old stories. Due to the new avenue and revision, oriented toward more mystery and film-noir ambience, that I took my stories into, I've removed all aliens and overly sci-fi aspects of the whole TSP lineup, so I've updated the Orb Weaver Chronicles accordingly. I hope you enjoy them, and in time, a revised version will also be updated.
