《Stuck in a zombie world with an OP shop》Chapter 20

After Jacob and David sign a contract, and Jacob states his oath to David, David turns his attention to Ryan.
"Since you won't be taking the oath, we can't allow you past this floor. If you have any good to trade, someone from the first floor can take a list and pass it on to our residents," David says and stands. "Come with me, Jacob. Terry will show your friend out."
Jacob gives short look to Ryan and follows David out the door. Once the door closes, Terry walks to Ryan.
"Alright, let's go," He says and takes Ryan by the arm, leading him out of the room.
'This is some kind of cult,' Ryan thinks as he is led out down the stairs and out the building. At no point did his weapons get taken away, but the way he was treated shifted once he declared he wouldn't be joining.
Alone, Ryan walks past Jacob's car and back to the manhole several blocks away. The walk takes much longer than any of Ryan's previous walks. Not because the distance was longer, which is was, but because of the huge amounts of zombies Ryan had to kill. Along the way, Ryan decides to raise his Swords skill to level ten for 2700 credits.
Just looking at his credits is surprising for Ryan. He has enough to buy Jacob's class skill or a more powerful weapon, or several skills.
Comparing his options, buying Jacob's class skill or the gun come last. They might help in limited circumstances, but nothing yet that Ryan had encountered. Instead of buying those, once he reached the manhole, Ryan buys skills for resistances.
First, he takes a long look at the skill Bullet Resistance. Several theories come to mind as Ryan looks at the skill. Theories such as, did Bullet Resistance only protect against bullets, would a skill such as Piercing Resistance or Physical Resistance have the same effect or less of one, and how many levels of Bullet Resistance would be required for him to be invincible.

Almost an hour after arriving at the manhole and laying under it, Ryan decides to upgrade the skill Bullet Resistance to level ten for 3000 credits. Then, he purchases the skills Slashing Resistance, Piercing Resistance, and Crushing Resistance, and upgrades them to level 10 for 15000 credits.
This leaves Ryan with only 559 credits remaining, but this is of little concern. To test the new resistances, Ryan tries to pierce his arm with the tip of his spear. The result is red but unbroken skin with no pain.
For the rest of the day, Ryan kills zombies at the bottom of the manhole. Furious hands from zombies make many more attempts at grabbing the spear or swatting it out of the way, so Ryan has a harder time killing the zombies, but he still manages a decent amount before having to call it a day.
After looking at his stats, Ryan doesn't regret refusing to join The Sanctuary.

Mage Among Superheroes
Turlough is a mage. He also happens to be an orc, generally lauded as being less intelligent than humans. He was unfortunately born with the Curse of the Barbarian, meaning that he can’t level up except through combat- which greatly hinders his ability to show he can be a proper mage. In a world with necromancers, dragons, invading armies, and all sorts of other monsters he would still be able to advance quickly, but unfortuantely… that world is not his world. An unprecedented peace reigns across the land, and in the last several decades there’s been little use for people capable of fighting- and thus little reason for people to fight him. So when he sees a portal in his master’s study he takes it, hoping to find a horde of demons or something equally foolish to combat at low level. But instead he ends up in a strange city full of skyscrapers and people running around in colorful outfits. Superheroes- and of course supervillains as well. What dangers and opportunities could await him in such a strange and unfamiliar world? Only time will tell. Inspired by many things in the superhero genre, and Super Minion specifically- though while the setting will share some standard elements, it is an original setting that will hopefully be as engaging as many of the other universes. Schedule: One chapter each Monday/Thursday, approx. 2000 words.

8 103Off the Vat
Sergeant Gonzal had a very good nose for trouble. But this time, rather than the Cloning vats, the reek of things rotting came from the Mess Hall. *** "Off the Vat" is a complete, very short novel (around 20,000 words across 7 chapters), inspired by the recloning mechanic that Sci Fi MMOs like EVE Online or The Repopulation use to explain why players respawn.
