《Mega Cringe: Dab》Chapter 2.4 - Expositional Upgrade Wooo

Terin couldn’t accept that. He enjoyed memes as much as anybody else and seeing them go would be painful. But his life was built on a meme. Dabbing was also a meme. His life’s work would be destroyed with this.
“We can’t let them do this! We have to fight back against them! There are others who will do the same, we can win this war. I am bringing Copy here and we are thinking of some plan.”
Terin left the room without giving Arthur a chance to say anything. First floor of the mansion was less complicated. The rooms were open and there were no doors so he quickly found where Copy was. He was surprised with what he saw. She was laying on the table with Julian’s hand inside of her.
“What the… What are you two doing?”
Julian was caught off guard but he quickly composed himself. Without stopping his work he answered Terin.
“Didn’t expect you to be back so soon. But there is an explanation for this. Since we are being chased by the gods themselves I figured it’s fine if I give her some illegal parts.”
He looked at Copy. All her limbs were disassembled from each other and opened up. Terin could see how her insides worked. The parts inside of her were in similar positions to the organs in a human body but Terin had no clue what part did what. He could see blue liquid circulate throughout each part and inside every limb. Her head remained intact and was positioned vertically so she could see Julian operate on her.
“How are you still able to function when you are in pieces?”
“Each part of my body is a different entity that works on its own. But the CPU is inside my head, so unless the parts are connected to my head they won’t move on their own. If you wanted to you could connect an arm to my neck and it would work without any problems.”

“And what are the changes you are making on her?”
“First I have to explain how her body works. See this blue liquid? Think of that as her blood, the parts inside of her use it to function. As long as she eats and drinks regularly it will never run out. If she loses even a drop of it the part will eventually run out of it and shut down. The liquid is easy to find and replace so that’s not the problem. The reason I explained that was because androids running on blue liquid can force the parts to drink more and gain higher strength. Of course using that will ruin the balance and force the part to shutdown quickly.”
“Let me guess, these illegal parts will allow her to use something else as fuel. Blood, for example.”
“She will still use the normal fuel but these parts will allow her to drink blood to gain more power. I figured it would match with her appearance, since she has fangs and all that.”
Julian was done with his work and started putting Copy back together. Terin was a bit surprised that Julian remained with them. The EU was only after people who were involved with the murder of Marculius Zurcberius. Julian was simply a worker in the tower, he supplied them equipment but that wasn’t enough of a crime for EU to chase him. He had no reason to risk his life and follow them here. Terin didn’t understand from where his loyalty was coming.
“Tell me, why did you decide to follow us? Why didn’t you just abandon us once EU started chasing us?”
“I am a big fan of the musician Kan’tI East. Some would say I worship him. Doesn’t matter. Anyway, his song spoke to me. I figured the message in his song. You must have heard it. The verse that starts with “Poopy-di-scoop” is much deeper than everyone else seems to understand. But I understood it. It told me I should join you. It told me great things will happen and it was right.”

Both Terin and Copy were uncomfortable about the reasoning but they accepted it. As long as he was loyal, the reason didn’t matter. They went back to Arthur. He didn’t look depressed anymore. On the contrary, he was exuding confidence.
“Glad you are back to your usual self. Being sad didn’t suit you.”
“Nonsense, being sad is very important. I have to be sad every now and then so that when I am happy I can truly enjoy it. And your idea to make a plan together is garbage. Your plans are all terrible and overly simple and I don’t trust Copy to have any intelligent idea if it isn’t related to killing someone. Luckily, I already have a plan. And it starts at Rollr. The so called “place with the most loving and supportive community”.”

Among other things, a story about growth, grit, and being better than the person you were yesterday. Here's my rambling on why I'm writing Journey West 5000. Journey West 5000 is my crazy ambitious writing project to adapt a classic epic called "Journey to the West" for a global, modern audience. It's a sci-fi story disguised as fantasy, and has some road trip + monster of the week elements (as does the original Journey to the West). No system, definitely no harem, gradual power progression. Hmm, what else can I put here so potential readers know what to expect? My writing style for now is mostly "show don't tell", because I believe that readers don't need to have everything pointed out to them, and that they should be allowed to make up their own minds about characters based on the actions of those characters. I'm also trying to be less long-winded (a weakness pointed out by some friends) in order to write according to something Neil Gaiman said, which is to write as though I'm the one who has to pay for every word, not the reader. This will bring down my chapter word counts, and might drive away potential readers, but I believe there's value in learning to compress and be concise. All chapters posted here will have been edited. Constructive criticism, comments, and feedback would be very much welcome and appreciated. Please, please help point out any typos or grammatical mistakes, I'm striving to minimize those as much as possible. Above all, I hope you enjoy my story.

The Bracelet I Got Was More Than I Bargained For
Andrew and his friends, Isaac, Lisbeth, and Cameron meet a shady man on the way home from school. This man promises them adventure on another world, called Calorin, if they are willing to help him with an experiment. This experiment requires the use of a bracelet, one that cannot be removed once bonded to but will give them abilities such as healing or enhanced strength. Thanks to some peer pressure Andrew reluctantly agrees to join the experiment. The friends are soon on their way to Calorin but Andrew notices feelings coming from the bracelet, ones that want nothing to do with the strange man. It is just before they arrive at their destination that the bracelet changes everything for Andrew and he finds himself separated from his friends and the strange man. Stuck in the middle of a forest Andrew will need to find out where he is, how to find his friends, and why the bracelet has been acting the way it has. Author's Note:This story is a sidequel/prequel to Artifice: Tools of the Gods. As it only has one or two connected characters there is no need to read one or the other to understand them.
