《Mega Cringe: Dab》Chapter 2.2 - Escape

Jail sector wasn’t like all the other sectors. It consisted of one tall tower and it was inaccessible by most people. Arthur could already visit strange places without any problems so Terin wasn’t surprised that Copy reached him. Their next issue was finding a way out. Reaching other sectors and regions was impossible without the use of AB transports. The area that surrounds every sector was infinite desolate dry lands with nothing there. Many tried to traverse them but none returned. Most sectors would either decorate their outskirts or build a wall around it since it was an eyesore. The jail sector didn’t bother with that. It wasn’t a sector meant for public use. There was only a black tower in the middle and nothing else. There was still a need for an AB so they placed one at the entrance.
Since Copy broke in and raised the alarm the guards split into two groups. One group that chased her and one that guarded the only escape. There were criminals much stronger than Terin and therefore there were guards much stronger. Breaking through by force was impossible. Terin hoped that since Copy went guns blazing that she at least had a plan. She might not be the brightest but she knew what was possible and what wasn’t.
Copy had a plan but unfortunately Terin wasn’t pleased. She took her rocket launcher and attached it to her left shoulder turning it back into her arm. Soon after she turned her hand into a drill and started digging.
“Let’s go! Quick before they come.”
“No. I can’t, let’s find another way.”
“Why not? Are you claustrophobic?” - Copy said that as a joke but Terin’s expresion proved she was correct. - “What?! There is no time for this! Get over your fears and hurry up.”

Terin was still indecisive. Reinforcements for the guards came.
“You finally arrived! They are holed up inside that crater. We didn’t dare approach.”
Terin finally got motivated and jumped down the hole.
“Collapse it!”
With a punch the entrance collapsed. It wasn’t a good cover up but they only needed a couple of seconds. Soon after he found himself in complete darkness. His body could only move forward. He could barely breathe. His limbs wouldn’t move. He was stuck in a position only thinking about how he is going to be buried alive. The tunnel was flimsy, it could collapse any second now.
Copy was smaller in size so she could turn her head around. She saw Terin frozen in place. There was no time for this. The noise from the guards will stop soon and their confusion will only last for a few seconds. She grabbed Terin’s neck with her legs and started pulling him while drilling forward. He was in too much shock to react. According to her calculations, they should be near the AB. She started digging upwards. As it started nearing the surface the noise was becoming more obvious. She didn’t dig all the way out. Thin layer of ground remained that would collapse as soon as someone stepped on it. The tip of the drill opened and a small ball shot out. It was a Shockwave Bomb. The guards left back were all weak and were blown away by the bomb. Terin seeing the light of day regained his senses. He pushed Copy and quickly left the tunnel himself. Copy miscalculated. The AB was further away than she dug. They wouldn’t reach the AB before the guards. Terin stomped the ground. He was still empowered so his stomp carried immense force. Using the tunnel they created the ground where the guards were collapsed. It didn’t completely stop them but it bought them a second. Copy dropped another ball from her drill before retracting back into her arm and entering the AB. Terin followed her and as soon as he entered she smashed the “Enter” button.

They teleported to another place. Terin couldn’t recognize it. It had similar architecture to HeadNovel. The buildings were abandoned and overgrown by nature. Roads were ruined too. It seemed like no one was here in a long time. Terin wasn’t a stranger to abandoned sectors but most of those were small ones. This one seemed like a pretty big and important sector at one point. It was strange to see it like this. They moved to the center for a while before Copy proclaimed.
“Alright, we are here! This is the tower of this sector according to Arthur.”
Terin was surprised. It wasn’t a tower, it was a mansion. Mansions were used as operation centres instead of towers back when the world wasn’t this developed. Sectors and regions that were strong just remodeled their operation centres to towers, it was strange that this sector didn’t do the same even though it was this developed. They were in a different region but Terin couldn’t tell which. He could only wait for Arthur to explain it to him. They entered the mansion.
“Arthur is on the second floor. He already explained everything to me and I don’t want to listen to it again so I will go visit Julian, see you later!”
Terin went upstairs and he was in a hallway. There were 4 possible doors he could choose. He didn’t know which was which. This is why Terin prefered towers, top floor is always where the boss is. And it was easier to defend against intruders. He decided to try each door until he found the right one. Luckily for him the first one was right. Arthur was sitting on his chair looking outside towards the ruined ghost town.

The Velvet Paw of Asquith Novels are a series of New Fable genre novels that involve cats and dogs and high adventure and romance and espionage and food-fights and hotels and explosions and car chases. With large casts, exotic locations and an absurdity only possible in the absence of human characters, the Velvet Paw of Asquith Novels blend Wind in the Willows with James Bond, though with more cafes and fewer badgers. This submission is the third title in its Morigan Trilogy, beginning two-thirds of the way through the series' longest adventure yet. Here's a quick recount of what's happened so far: When Oscar Teabag-Dooven, a Velvet Paw of Asquith, is ordered to investigate how a mysterious poet, the Ar'dath-Irr, is able to travel instantaneously around the world, two very bad things happen. Firstly, he meets Lydia, an insane librarian who punches everyone in the face, and secondly, the Ar'dath-Irr reveals he is intent on taking over the world. Although this second thing might be considered worse than the first, Oscar feels differently following Lydia’s destruction of a cafe, a library and his face in one afternoon. In comparison, thwarting world domination just seems easier. Along with Binklemitre, a fellow Velvet Paw of Asquith, and Lydia, Oscar infiltrates the Ar’dath-Irr’s realm of dark poetry to discover the dog not only intends wrenching the world apart but has no intention of cleaning up afterwards. As a result, Oscar decides it’s all too hard and goes home to have a bath. After lots of arguing and the sort of food fight that posh restaurants were invented for, Lydia and Binklemitre convince him that they must stop the Ar’dath-Irr for several reasons, one of them quite serious. A vibrant cast of characters collide as Oscar, Lydia and Binklemitre battle the Ar’dath-Irr and his disciples in an adventure involving exploding cafés and appalling hotels, car chases and inadvertent surgery, dreadful poetry, lots of arguments and at least one temper-tantrum, all of which draw the three into dark and convoluted corners of a world they weren’t aware existed. Moreover, any chance of sitting down and discussing things over some buns disappears when Lydia punches the Ar’dath-Irr in the face. This results in her having a psychotic episode and Oscar getting run over by an ambulance. Although Binklemitre suffers neither, he witnesses both, which is almost as dreadful, though not nearly so messy. An enormous battle ensues, followed by a dinner party and then everything explodes.
