《I can skip between worlds!!!》Chapter 11: Lunch

It was almost 6:15 am when I woke up. It was the earliest I ever woke up by myself. Since I have already woken up, I better make full use of the time I have.
When I tried to move, I realized my whole body was aching and stiff. Since fatigue from the other world doesn’t carryover to this world, it must’ve happened because I slept in a weird position. But it wasn’t anything a hot water bath couldn’t take care of.
It felt weird taking a bath because I had just taken a bath in Magica. I felt like I was taking a bath again as soon as I finished one. But my body odor was saying otherwise.
I had promised Miya that I would cook something for her today so I got to work. The main dish was again rice and curry coz I didn’t have enough time to cook something new. I looked at some recipes on the net and decided to make a side dish of tempura. I had some shrimp leftovers in my fridge that would expire soon so I decided to go with it.
I like cooking but I’m not that good at it even though I have been cooking for myself for the last 2 years. Aunt Masako would occasionally invite me for dinner so I got to eat some good food now and then. Whenever she made some good dish, she would send some over with Chiaki.
I prepared some batter and started to heat the oil. When the oil was hot enough I dipped the shrimp in the batter and then fried it for about 2 minutes. They turned out beautiful golden brown with a crispy crust.
Then I prepared a sauce that suited tempura with some Dashi, soy sauce, mirin and sugar. I tasted a shrimp with the sauce. Nothing can beat Tempura with this special sauce.
[Cooking(1)] Unlocked
Huh!? I’ve cooked a couple of times since I got my new abilities. But I just received the skill. Was it because I was actually making an effort to cook good food this time?
I pack the food in a bento and prepare to go to school. I can’t be late. Other wise Miya will think I’m a slacker. I lock the front door and leave.
“Hey Chiaki, let’s go. We’ll be late.” I called out to her.
“You can go ahead. I think I’ll be late today. You don’t have to be late just because of me.” She shouted from within her house.
“Ok then. I’ll be going. Don’t be too late.” I tell her as I leave.
As i was walking along the road, I reached the place where I was almost hit by Truck-kun. I’ve lights changed to red so I was waiting to cross the road.
Then suddenly a kid ran out into the road out of nowhere. Were his parents not keeping an eye on him?
This is bad. A speeding car is approaching. If things go on like this he’ll be hit for sure even if the driver hits the brake. It can’t be helped. I’ll have to use my abilities. With my speed, I might just make it in time.
Without wasting anymore time, I run with full speed after the kid. The driver must have noticed the kid because the car was slowing down. I jump and catch the kid and I roll down on the other side of the road. I made sure the kid’s head wouldn’t be injured.

I barely made it. Even if I was fast, I wasn’t faster than a car yet. If the driver didn’t hit the brakes, I wouldn’t make it.
The kid was crying, probably because he was scared. I got up and helped the kid to stand up. I cleaned his clothes as I calmed him down.
“There there. Don’t cry. You’re all right now.” He was still crying but he was calmer than before. “You’re a strong boy aren’t you? You shouldn’t cry.”
The driver of the car had also arrived where we were. She was a woman probably in her 30s. She looked mortified.
“Are you two a..alright? I didn’t see the little kid. He just ran out in front of my car and I c..couldn’t do anything.” Her voice was breaking probably because of fear.
“Yeah we’re both okay. It wasn’t your fault so don’t worry.” I assured her.
“Thank you. Not only you saved the little boy’a life, you saved me from going to jail too. I don’t know how I can repay you??” She was relieved knowing we were safe.
“It’s ok. It was my duty to save someone in danger if I can....On second thought there’s one thing you could do. Could you find the parents of this kid? I’m a bit late for school?” I asked.
“Sure, that’s the least I can do. I promise to take him home safely.” She accepted my request.
The kid had calmed down a lot. The lady was talking to him. She was probably asking for directions for his home. I couldn’t waste more time so I left.
After I reached a few dozen meters away, the boy shouted, “Thank you brother.” He was smiling.
“Take care” I shouted back.
When I reached school, it was almost time for the beginning of class. Thank god I made it in time.
As I was sitting at my spot, Miya noticed me and approached me.
“Suya, your clothes look a little dirty. Did something happen on the way?” She asked with concern.
“Oh I didn’t notice. Actually I stumbled and fell on the way to school so they got dirty. I should clean them in recess.” I couldn’t just tell her that I was almost hit by a car. She’ll be worried for no reason.
“Are you hurt any where? If you are, I’ll take you to the infirmary.” I guess just falling was enough to make her worry about me. I shouldn’t tell her that I was almost hit by a car trying to save a kid else she will be worried sick.
“No I’m fine. Thank you for worrying about me.” I reassure her.
“Ok if you say so.” Thankfully she believed my lie. “Let me know if you feel unwell, ok?”
The teacher suddenly entered the class so our conversation was cut short. I felt kinda sad not being able to reply to her but we can talk again during lunch break.
Thankfully I remembered to do my homework this time. So I didn’t have to get embarrassed in front of the whole class. It was especially embarrassing in front of Miya.
Due to the effect of the special ability “Genius Wizard”, I pretty much become a genius in almost every field. So studying became a breeze for me. That’s one thing I no longer have to worry about.

But I’ll have to tone it down a bit. I can’t go from the average student to the best overnight. Furthermore, being slightly above average is peaceful. There are no expectations nor any pressure.
The classes go by in a flash though it felt like an eternity. Finally it was the long awaited lunch break. I go approach Miya to invite her to have lunch together. She was surrounded by some of her friends. But when they noticed me, they started giggling and left.
“Hey Miya. Lets go have lunch, shall we?” I asked breaking the uncomfortable moment of silence between us.
“Sure. I’ve been waiting the whole day.” She replied with a smile. She probably missed her breakfast and was hungry.
We head towards the rooftop which had become our personal little spot for lunch. Hopefully no one else will catch a whiff of this place.
When we reach the rooftop, there is someone there already. There goes my skin time with Miya. On a closer look that person seems familiar. Is that Chiaki?? What is she doing here?
“Hey Suya!! It’s a surprise seeing you here. I was about to go ask you to have lunch together. This saves me the trouble.” I’m the one who should be surprised. How did she know I’d be here??
“Hey Chiaki! I was also about to have lunch so let’s have it together. By the way, this is my friend Miya. Miya, this is my neighbor Chiaki.” I try to hide my annoyed face and introduce them both.
“No need for introductions Suya. We know each other.” Miya says as she walks towards the place we sat yesterday, “Chiaki, can you help me place the sheet.”
Miya and Chiaki start placing a sheet on the floor. It’s starting to feel like a picnic. After they are done, we place our foods in the middle and sit around it.
“Let’s start eating. I’m starving.” I say as I open my bento box. The food was still slightly warm. It would have been better if we had a microwave to heat our food.
Miya had brought sushi and sashimi. Chiaki had brought donburi. It was going to be a feast.
We all shared a little bit of our food with each other and started digging in. Everything was delicious.
“By the way, how do you two know each other?” Curiosity got the better of me so I had to ask.
“I was looking for clubs to join few weeks back when I met Chiaki at the archery club. We became friends since then.” Miya cleared my curiosity.
“I really wanted Miya to join the archery club too but she still hasn’t decided which club to join.” Chiaki said with a gloomy face.
“I haven’t joined any club too. Or you could say I’m in the go home club.”
“Why don’t you both join archery club with me??” Chirped Chiaki. Her eyes looked big and watery almost pleading. She looked as if she would burst out crying if we denied.
“I don’t know a thing about archery so I don’t know if it is a good club for me.” I reply hesitantly not wanting to hurt her feelings. I couldn’t spend my time in a club. I have to finish my chores and homework before I go to Magica.
“Why don’t we go for tryouts tomorrow after school. Maybe you have a knack for archery, you’ll never know.” Joined Miya. I guess I’ll go for today and say that I’m no good at archery. That way I won’t hurt Chiaki’s feelings.
“Ok then. Let’s go there tomorrow. Chiaki, do you think the club president will be ok with us coming for tryouts?” I ask.
“Of course it’s ok for you guys to come. The president always welcomes new members.” There was a huge smile on Chiaki’s face that stretched from ear to ear.
It’s set then. We will be going for archery club tryouts tomorrow. Now I got one more reason to spend time with Miya. If we both ended up joining the club we would get more chance to hang out. But I can’t join the club. Maybe Miya and Chiaki will be close friends if Miya joins.
While talking we had also finished eating our lunch. We would have to go back to class or else we would be late for the next class.
“Thanks Miya and Chiaki for sharing your lunch with me. Everything was delicious.” I say as I pack my bento.
“You really liked it? I’ll tell my mother that you said it was delicious, ok?” Miya said.
“If you liked my bento so much then I will make one for you every day.” Chiaki said while blushing red like a tomato. “Ok bye!” and she ran away just like that.
So she was busy cooking the lunch this morning so she told me to go to school by myself. I knew she cooked sometimes but her bento was always made by aunt Masako. It’s a surprise that she cooked for me too.
“I guess I’ll have to learn cooking too.” Miya said with a smile. I could almost see fire burning in her eyes. She seems really determined to learn cooking. Maybe because a girl younger than her cooked such delicious food. Or maybe because she was the only one who didn’t cook in our group.
We return back to class. The rest of the classes felt really boring as I felt really sleepy after eating. I’m sure everyone else in my class used to feel the same too. But recently the guys seemed to be strangely energetic.
Since I was in the go home club, I had nothing else to do after class so I just walked home.
Stamina: +5
As I was walking, I saw a message in my field of vision. It seems like I can increase some stats just with some physical exercise and not just by leveling up. I’ll have to increase some stats this way.
I didn’t notice earlier but I didn’t get tired even after walking all the way home. Normally I’d be a bit sweaty and panting but now it feels like I just got out of bed. That’s likely because of my increased stamina. God’s mistake is turning out to be useful for me.
I didn’t have much stuff to do so I just made some dinner for myself. I watched tv for a while but there was nothing interesting on. Since I didn’t have anything to do, I went to bed.

The Limits of Limitless
Author's Note: So, new author here, nice to meet you from this lovely one sided conversation lol. I was so tired of waiting for the perfect story for me so I decided to write a few of my own. These are basically just to make me happy, but if you enjoy them too that would make me happy as well lol. ______________________________________________________________________________________ So once upon a time, there was a convienent, and slightly cliche, plot device used by a somewhat lazy author.... Which in turn, created an easily made story of how a lucky high schooler posing as a hardcore gamer dies only to resurrect in a fantasy reality, meeting beautiful women, powerful dragons and ancient beings, an assortment of insanely escentric fellows, and a certain over powered ring. Journey with them as they explore the wilderness of twisted imagination. Or for you old timey folk who like their synopsis a bit tame, here you go: Jason, a senor in highschool, is slowly failing school due to not giving a fuck. Like many people now in the year 3056, he is obsessed with the wonderful invention most lovingly called, 'True Virtual Realities'. now by using his obsession with his favorite Virtual Reality game called 'Reality Controlled', which is the first and so called best Virtual Reality ever made. it was basically the all around escape humanity wished for, and he with heaven defying luck came across one of the three cheat items the game developers left for themselves: The Limitless Ring. The ring was a support type item and had the ability to grant wishes, store worlds, clone items, grant skills and easily learn abilities. But those are just a few of the things it could do. Using the ring he successfully became the "best player" and had a herd of fans following him everywhere. It was a dream come true. Until, he was killed from a power surge that fried his brain which was hooked up to the Nerve Capsule, an unsafe prototype of the Dive gear that he bought do to low funds. The end. Or so you would think.... ______________________________________________________________________________________ Author's Note: I was, to be honest, wanting to do a collab, because to me it is sooooooo incredibly boring to write by yourself since you always know what happens next, however no one enjoys a bit of friendly cooperation *sigh* so I'm forced to journey these roads alone.... 'Tis but a sad fate tha' 'is here young'un has t' bear. The cover isn't mine, all rights and stuff goes to its artist and such.
