Chapter 15: God Level Talent! / Two Idiots! Well, Actually, Four. Four Idiots!
“Lime, what did Evan mean by another person?” Liz asked
“Oh. There’s another person here with mana who didn’t conceal it. They’re in the barrier with us. Like the two that are almost in view.” Lime said
“So, another enemy?” Liz asked
“I’m not sure if there’s any enemy here at all. They weren’t fighting us, so we don’t know where they stand. Technically this barrier magic is used for any time a mage wants or needs to fight something. Not just for the competition. So I’m not even sure this has to do with the contest. Evan probably does. Oh, there they are. Who are those two?” Lime asked, pointing
“Lime, isn’t it slow to move when you float? What if they are dangerous psychopaths?” Liz asked, looking at the two who were fighting.
“Oh. If I walk, and Evan isn’t here to constantly help me, I cough up blood. So Evan makes me float. Also, they're just fighting.” Lime said
“Uh. They’re our age. You guys said you were going to train us, right? Why the heck are those two already able to fight?” Liz asked
“Their foundation is absolute trash, since they started mana release training way too early. Like most of the mages in the world right now, they will only become a little stronger. You guys will be able to grow extremely powerful. It has to do with short run versus long run. You guys have a massive mana capacity, as well as extreme amounts of stored mana. It’s the difference between a drop of water and a pool. We aren’t idiots.” Lime said
“What? Then why start training at this point, instead of much later? Doesn’t that mean we can get even stronger?” Gram asked
“Technically, yes. But the amount you have is enough to smoothly and reliably improve over the course of your entire life, so there’s not really a point, unless you’re immortal. In such a case, however, the time in which you practice training mana storage and mana release doesn’t really matter. After you finish up what you need with one of them you can just do the other, and switch between them for eternity.” Lime said
“Oh. So, basically, we have a perfect foundation?” Suika asked
“Hm. Yes, for a mortal, you guys are what they would consider god level talents. Or whatever it is, I didn’t really look at the level rankings they have here. That’s what my husband likes to do.” Lime said
“Wait… seriously? You have to be joking.” Liz said, freezing in shock, her mouth agape.

“What? What’s going on? Hellooo? Liz!” Gram said
Elizabeth stood there, thinking about exactly what that meant for the future
“Lime, why are Suika and Liz frozen?” Gram asked
“They aren’t. It’s just that they know what the level system means, and what its importance is. Basically, it’s just a really big deal to the people of this world.” Lime said
“What do you mean by that?” Gram asked
“Lime? Can you repeat what you said about our growth level?” Suika asked
“There’s a fight going on right over there, and that’s what you ask? I can tell you. You guys have at minimum the highest rank of the maximum god level growth rate. Compared to the mages in this world which are usually topped out at around…. I’d say tier 3?” Evan said, counting on his fingers, as he teleported in front of lime.
“What does that meaaaaan though!” Gram whined
“Oh. Right, you aren’t from a mage family. Okay, so, in this world, there’s what, 20 tiers?” Evan asked
“50, dear.” Lime said
“Oh. Well, that’s a lot more than I thought. I guess the high average would be about… tier 15? I’d say the head of the three families has a tier 45 growth rate right now. Correct me on that if I’m wrong. So those are the normal tiers for a mages average potential in this world. Now, there’s about 3 different tiers above the 50 normal ones that have special meanings. Each of them have three ranks. The first is the world class tier, the three ranks are mostly just the level of strength. So it’s just called low, medium, or high. Above the world tier is the demigod tier. Same with its three ranks, low, medium, high. They say that medium demigod level is the highest level any creature here has ever reached. Above that is the god tier. It’s ranks are, minor god, major god, and the last one is just called god. You guys have a god level god tier growth rate, at minimum. Though it won’t show until you hit a certain point in training. You grow slightly faster than others. Well, a lot, but the important thing is the ceiling. Even the major level god tier has a ceiling. Normally they cap out their growth at age 67ish. Can’t get any stronger, no matter how hard they try. Though, the strength they have when they actually hit that cap is insane for what you guys know as strong. You guys just don’t have that little limitation. You will become the strongest in the world if you guys are lucky. It still won’t be easy. Far from it. With what you have now, it will be incredibly difficult for any mage to start learning if you use the normal methods. That’s why we are going to train you guys. I’d say that if you guys manage to actually hit your cap, you could crush or split a mountain, or blow it up with magic, in a single hit. Again, it’s unlikely that you will get anywhere close to that. Any questions?” Evan asked

“Uh, they're still zoned out, I have no idea what you just said, and I have tons of questions. Including one very urgent one.” Gram said
“Oh? What?” Evan asked
“Are we supposed to do something about them? They’re getting dangerously close. They haven’t seen us yet, thankfully.” Gram asked
“Oh. Yeah, that may be an issue. So, do you recognize them?” Evan asked
“As a sword, I cannot see. At least not see that far, or clear enough to tell who they are.” Gram said
“Yeah, we should snap them out of it. Also, what they are freaking out about isn’t really all that strong compared to what you can really do with magic.” Evan said, waving his hand in front of liz
“Evan, I have one very big question. Why the hell do you know all of this?” Gram asked
“I’m god.” Evan said
“You’re a loonie.” Gram replied
“You make me sad.” Evan said
“No, seriously though, how do we snap them out of it?” Gram asked
“I’m already fine. Too much to think about. Also, it doesn’t really matter. If we die before it can even make a difference, it has no meaning.” Suika said, sighing heavily.
“Yeah, I guess I’m fine too. We should get out of here so we don’t get into any trouble.” Liz said
“Hmm. I have a better idea.” Evan said
“Oh? What’s that?” Liz asked
Evan faced towards the two people fighting
“Hey, you two, what the heck are you doing?” Evan yelled, walking into view
“Dammit, you crazy bastard! Gram was right, you really are a loonie!” Liz said, stomping on the floor with the heel of her shoes repeatedly
“Don’t worry, I’m invincible.” Evan said, laughing
“Everyone who says that is probably dead.” Gram said
“I’m not everyone. I’m Evan. I guess they do sound similar, but they aren’t the sa-“ Evan said
“Who the bloody hell are you guys? How in the bloody hell are you here, on top of that!” One of them said
“I'm the one you're fighting, they have nothing to do with this.” The other said
“Damnit! You guys better leave! He’s crazy!” The first one said.
“Wow. Are you trying to use a staff against a sword?” Evan asked
“I would really rather not talk right now, I’m kinda busy, and this is kinda dangerous.” The boy with a staff said
“Well, then. I’ll pause you two for a moment, so we can chat.” Evan said, walking closer. He snapped his fingers.
They froze in place, unable to move.
“Oh. It isn’t a sword. My bad. But still, a magic staff against any close range melee weapon is a seriously bad idea, unless you know how to fight with a stick. What is that thing, anyhow? It’s like a sword, but weirder. Why does it have two handles? Why the heck did you take this form? What kinda personality do you have?” Evan asked
“Form? You know about Arks?” The one with the weird sword asked
“Know? Know?! I invented the damn things, you idiot. Anyway, nice to meet you. I’m Evan. Can your Arks not speak?” Evan asked
“My friend honestly just prefers not to talk that much.” The kid with a staff said
“Yeah, sorry about that.” The staff said meekly
Evan raised an eyebrow.
“Hey, Oberon, did you literally ignore the fact that he said he created the Arks? The hell you did! They may have only appeared recently, but no way in hell a kid...like…..you….. are you a vampire?” The other kid asked
“Who the heck is this hot blooded idiot. And why are you guys fighting?” Evan asked
“He calls himself axel because it sounds cool” Oberon said
“I see. So the mages are axel and Oberon. Gotcha. What’s the Arks names?” Evan asked
“I’m Kenya.” The staff said
Evan frowned at Kenya.
“I’m, uhh… knuckle duster or something. Just call me fist.” Said fist
“You. are. a. sword. and a sorry excuse for one at that. Why fist? What’s your brothers name, punch?” Evan asked
“You know my brother?” Fist asked, not understanding the joke
“Damn, is your entire family full of idiots?” Evan asked
“Actually, yeah. I have to say, we aren’t all that smart.” Fist said
“I can respect the fact that you admit it, I guess. But why are you guys fighting?” Evan asked

Leaves of Terranthir
DISCONTINUED - I won't be writing more of this fiction. Check out the latest post for a worlbuilding summary / final thoughts. Leaves of Terranthir is a gamelit blend of ARPG, action, fantasy, and slice of life. It's inspired in part by some of my favourite games, borrowing in themes, sense of exploration, and aesthetics from the Soulsborne and soulslike genre, mixed heavily with arpg itemization from Diablo/PoE style games. While many may remember their Soulslike experiences as nothing more than suffering, I personally loved the sense of progression, to prevail over challenges and monsters that seemed impossible to defeat at first. If any of that seems interesting to you, do check out the first chapter and let me know what you think. Cheers, and thanks for reading. Cover by Baconstrap.

Cheis of Veraleigh the Necromancer is a hero renowned throughout the realms, but that doesn't mean her social life is doing all that well -- she'd rather hunt monsters and write new spells than deal with the unpleasant reality of her impending middle age. But when an ancient evil awakens, she just may have to make up her mind about what she wants out of life -- and deal with what life wants out of her.
8 203Respec Ted
Ted is transported away from Earth and arrives in unknown lands, the world has been gamified with magic abilities, levels and a passive skill tree the size of a galaxy. When Ted gets the choices for his Class he gets overwhelmed with the possibilities. It started out mild; Knight, Wizard, Thief.. pretty generic archetypes took the space infront of him first, but got quickly covered by more class choices that popped up: Farmer, Lecturer, Necromancer, Vampire, Politician, Brute, Cyborg, Bounty Hunter.. it just kept going. There was no way Ted would look through them all, but he felt the importance of the choice he was about to make and hesitated. Then he noticed a blank choice with the sole word "Respec" on it. Ridiculous, he had not even made a class choice yet and there was a respec button on the ui, it did not make sense and he pressed it out of curiousity. "YOU HAVE CHOSEN THE RESPECIALIZATION CLASS".
