Chapter 5: Back To The Party / Lay
“Oh! Right! I forgot that the reason I came here in the first place was the tea party! Let’s go back!” Lime said, excited
“Sure.” Evan said
“Okay.” Suika said
They walked back to the lawn. There were tables and chairs set up now, as well as a buffet to the side. There were a lot of children who were trying to look mature around a bunch of tables
“Is this really that interesting?” Evan asked
“Well, at least we can talk to each other normally. I can’t stand that polite tone. Having to do the same thing is even worse.” Suika said, shuddering
“It looks nice, though? Suika, is a polite and graceful tone really all that bad?” Lime asked
“When it comes from you, it sounds more like an Angel speaking. That doesn’t count.” Suika said
“Suika has a point, you do sound like an Angel.” Evan said
“That’s not fair!” Lime said, blushing
“Cute.” Evan and Suika said in unison
“How do you even join a tea party? Do you just sit at one of the tables randomly and talk?” Evan asked
“I have no idea.” Suika said, shrugging her shoulders
Evan grabbed a plate of food and a sprite…. wait, sprite? Yeah, sprite.
Suika also grabbed some food and a drink.
Evan chose an empty table in the corner and sat down.
Suika sat across from him.
Lime sat in the same seat as Evan.
“What did you get?” Evan asked
“Watermelon. You?” Suika said
“Figures. I got a bunch of cute little desserts.” Evan said, drooling.
“You have a massive sweet tooth.” Suika said
“Shush. You’re eating yourself, for crying out loud.” Evan said, laughing

“Hey! Watermelons are delicious!” Suika said
“Never said they weren’t..... Say, why do I feel like I’m being watched?” Evan asked
“Because you are. Typically, people who can literally punch through solid iron are seen as strange. Add that with you three taking this so casually, and it’s pretty easy to see you guys come from some powerful family. Especially since the family that is hosting the party is one of the great three families. Anyone who can be this casual has to be someone special. At least, that’s what that dude over there said. I basically said what I heard word for word. But it sounds smart. Anyone would want to get close to someone like you guys, anyway. Myself included of course!” A boy said, sitting down right next to Evan.
“And anyone who can act that casual with us is probably also pretty special. Personality wise.” Suika said
“Yup. You guys seem cool, so I came to hang out. This is more my style than that stuff.” The boy said, gesturing to the rest of the tea party
“Well, it’s nice to meet you. I’m Evan.” Evan said
“I’m lime.” Lime said
“And I’m Suika, nice to meet you….” Suika realized she didn’t know his name
“Oh, I’m Lay, nice to meet you guys” lay said
“So what the heck do we do? And, I’m still being watched.” Evan said
“Lime, do you wanna stay or not.” Evan asked
“No. Tea parties are a lot more boring than I thought. What do you want to do, dear?” Lime asked, pouting slightly.
“I kinda wanna explore this place. The gardens and stuff are completely different here.” Evan said
“Sounds better than staying here to me!” Lay said
“Same, and I agree, being watched feels incredibly creepy.” Suika said, shivering
“Jeez. Let’s go then. Maybe we’ll find something cool” Evan said

Of Men and Dragons, Book 1
Book 1 is now available on Kindle, or in paperback/hardcover! You can buy it here! Jack crash-landed on a planet where the natives are seven-foot-tall carnivorous cat-lizards currently somewhere between stone and bronze age. The good news is the natives think the ship that crashed into their mountain is a dragon and are steering clear of it. The bad news is they just left one of their own as a sacrifice to appease the beast. No matter what Jack and his AI co-pilot decide, his life just got a lot more complicated... ATTENTION: This is soft sci-fi rather than hard sci-fi, hence why I chose that tag. For those of you unfamiliar with the distinction, here's what Wikipedia had to say. 1. It explores the "soft" sciences, and especially the social sciences (for example, anthropology, sociology, or psychology), rather than engineering or the "hard" sciences (for example, physics, astronomy, or chemistry). 2. It is not scientifically accurate or plausible; the opposite of hard science fiction. Soft science fiction of either type is often more concerned with character and speculative societies, rather than speculative science or engineering. The term first appeared in the late 1970s and is attributed to Australian literary scholar Peter Nicholls.
