《Pair of Madness》Chapter 9 - Cruelty After Cruelty

Few days passed.
Following the soil pavement from home, he reached his little "laboratory", where he continued his research. Pulling out an armchair to sit, he started his work on his paper and specimens on a jar. Unaware of the passing of time, a person has come for a visit.
knock knock
After a few taps on the door, the door was pushed open by a wooden tray, then a tall gorgeous woman steps inside.
"Little Enni, your favorite meal is here," a happy voice of Huethea reverberated in Aldeice's shed.
Ever since there have been no classes, the children were accompanying their parents to any kind of task. Aldeice, being the odd one who asked for a shed room, which he holed himself in away from his family.
This made Huethea always grumbles at Mordor for accepting her son's request, now she's left with no choice but just gave Aldeice an occasional visit whenever she misses him or would like to shower him with motherly love. Of course, he still goes home before and after a full day, as a five-year-old though, Huethea couldn't help but worry and check on him.
Letting her in without regard, Aldeice glance at her to give a charming smile, as if there's something we could eat besides meat and mushroom, he thought. Not standing from his armchair, he refocused his attention on writing findings from the fungus in a jar that is in front of him.
Putting the tray down on a small clean side table, she pushed the door closed. As she watches her son "play", she turns away to curiously survey his place, then her eyes were pricked by an unanticipated object, a humanoid shape laying on the side. She rubs her eyes to make sure, a nonforsadon? Her face froze in shock, then her blood boils thinking that his son has lost himself in debauchery.
"ENNI! You're still a fledgling boy for this!"
A loud shout interrupted Aldeice work followed by a stomping of foot nearing. Tilting his head, he could see Huethea's flushed face staring at him, her trembling fingers were pointing at the woman in fur bed.
While pressing her lips, her mind was hit with dozens of thoughts. No wonder Enni asked for a small house and if he can marry someone of a different race, he even brought the lady for a secret cohabitation. A-and the most unbelievable thing, she's a big adult! This is outrageous!
"Hear me out Mother, this is all a misunderstanding," reading her false intuition, Aldeice protested.
"You have tremendously disappointed your Mother," she cut in with a belly full of anger.
Trying to salvage the situation, he hurriedly explained when her outrage lessens. Afterward, hearing her son's clarification, Huethea sighs in relief. Taking a step to inspect the woman closely, she saw the bandages dyed in blood.
"What if she carries a disease or a curse? We just had a pregnant villager and such risk is unallowed," Huethea's brows furrowed when she remembers a certain elf.
'Seems like luck is on our side, dear.' A joyous tone of Blanche breaks in his mind.
Overhearing the word "pregnant villager", means another option has arrived. In actuality, Aldeice doesn't think of it as luck tho, it was within his expectation that it will eventually come, for an inevitable to appear sooner will only spare one's patients.

"Worry not Mother, Granpa Crow has checked on her to unproven those," he responded in assurance.
"Very well," she sighs in resignation.
"Where does this happy occasion resides?" While smiling victoriously, he changed the subject.
But before Huethea could open her mouth to answer, the door creaked open. As the mother and son duo unconsciously turn their heads, a woman in an exquisite dark mage robe barged in, her ash grey hair hitting her shoulders was tied by Greek gods. Her brows, bosom, and chin were raised as she returned their gazes, she resembles a lavish arrogant mother that can't be reasoned out, Aldeice deemed.
"Grandma Radelia," Huethea respectfully greeted with a slight bow of her head.
"The surface dweller?" she asked calmly.
"Greetings elder," standing up, he followed suit.
"How considerate. A lovable child, you raised him well Huethea," she praised with a tender smile.
"I told ya, you'll surely love our little Enni," butting in, Granpa Crow peeked from Radelia's behind. He didn't enter for it could be cramped.
Hearing her compliment, Huethea beamed ear to ear. Closing in, Aldeice tugged Radelia's sleeves towards the woman in fur, experiencing him acting his age, Radelia chuckles. Looking down at the woman, her brows wrinkled.
"Two things, it's either be tossed or be killed," she gave her harsh verdict.
"Radelia! don't be hasty, shall we? I know that is so you, but lessen your savagery," Granpa Crow voiced his disagreement from the doorway.
"Fendarr, your kindness should only be offered to the Forsadon. If she must live within Verlassene, then it will cost her a price," glancing at him, she gave her bottom line. "And you're correct to not be hasty, for I have realized the danger of releasing her, It could reveal our location," she continued.
Perceiving he won't be able to change her mind, Granpa Crow's eyelids drooped, I've tried my best lady, it's unfortunate for you to meet such an adamant Forsadon, he heavily sighs.
With an aura of a judging queen, she stands firm before the accused. Bending her right arm upward, her hands formed a pinching motion with three fingers, as mana flows to her fingertips, a dot manifested, sucking all the colors in the room, it gradually forms into a thin needle as black as the abyss, upon forming, it releases an aura that envelopes the whole area that suppresses all the noise. Being caught by it, the trio felt like their senses vanished.
While her eyes were on the needle she gently squats down, turning her sight at the face of the woman, she draws her hand near, then guided the needle to the woman's forehead. There, she slowly drills the needle on the woman's glabella, pushing it with her index finger, it disappeared, so does the numbing aura withdraws.
As the magical scene concludes, the mother and son let out a breath of admiration while Granpa Crow's visage was plastered with sorrow, for he knew that the woman's fate has become irreversible.
Acting like a curious child, Aldeice closes in and clutched the edge of Radelia's clothing.
"Pretty grandma what will happen to the lady?" he asked.

Bending down, she pinched the little one's cute nose lovingly as she smiles, "not to worry child, she was just deprived of her ability to harm our people," she answered.
Since even Granpa Crow was unable to persuade her, he has no choice but to stand aside as she ruined his "toy". As long as her soul and life were intact, then she has some use, he consoled himself.
Now that he thinks about it, he has been making the woman drink a sleep-inducing drug, she needs to be unawakened till he finds a way to exploit her without a chance of being retaliated, but he also can't harm her to the point that her baby will be affected, it makes him stuck between a rock and a hard place. For this unexpected event to happen, he has no other choice but to disregard the option of having Blanche reborn as a human child. Whatever cursed the woman has gained, he can't let Blanche inside an unstable mother that could break mentally and can even harm herself in despair.
---
After the adults have left, he returned back on his research.
Raising a tiny corked jar glass with his hand, it contains a slimy black liquid, swirling it a bit, he broke into a satisfied smile. A discovery from an octopus ink-colored fungi named Totum is the reason for his gleefulness, aside from its color, its mushroom cap was like a century egg filled with holes akin to beehives, it has an identical property with a fungus on Earth that produces drugs for organ rejection prevention.
The Totum grows near Nekrilia's nest, thanks to his habit of plucking wild fungi that he encounters, he was generously rewarded by nature, Aldeice and Blanche may not be omniscient scientists, but when it comes to the field of transplantation genetics they belong to the first-class.
With this finding, organ transplant experiments will have fewer chances of failures, in future prospect, it won't be impossible to integrate an organ of different humanoid to another, a compatibility issue may arise, but opening the door of possibility as a first step is already a great achievement, they may even fully modify or even recreate a new specie, what abomination spawns will they birth?
Avoiding overindulgence of magnificent future dreams, Aldeice shook his head to clear his thoughts. Sharing his fantasies with Blanche, in the end, they casually name the substance Creator's Basis. Besides the sleep-inducing mushroom, this is their second significant discovery, and it requires testing.
'About the human, we could put her into coma till I came out,' she started a new topic.
'Overdosing with sleeping drug, it is indeed feasible,' he slightly nodded. 'If the choices remain as two, just like the old times, let's lay out their significance for comparison,' he continued.
As a Human child, she will have a shorter lifespan and can infiltrate their civilization.
As a Forsadon child, 300 years of continuance, and?
Beauty beyond imperfections! If that ever count as a good point due to the fact that it causes the downfall of Forsadon, but in Aldeice and Blanche's opinion, whether a person has hideous or a pleasing appearance, power will still dictate their life, and if they will assert the decision based on that, then the regal look of the golden blonde woman was undeniable too. Lastly, when it comes to prolonging one's life they have the confidence, but confidence itself doesn't suffice especially in this unfamiliar world.
'I'm sorry Blanche, but please let's pick the safe route, it may not only be Radelia who treats nonforsadon coldly, and I don't want you to feel isolated,' he pleaded.
Knowing all of her attempts to persuade have failed, she just laughs it off and looks at the bigger picture.
He understands Blanche's nostalgia towards the human, but this world is vastly different, he wouldn't put Blanche's safety at risk just for the sake of lingering feelings. And these humans, those who use mana, can they still be called humans?
---
The day when Huethea planned to visit the pregnant Forsadon, Aldeice tagged along for the reason of curiosity and wishing the pregnant villager happiness. Huethea, as a mother, why would she hinder her child's kind actions? Like any other houses in Verlassene, Huethea and Aldeice climbed hand in hand upstairs to reach the door of the house tangled by the trees.
In the living room, sitting at the double chair, Huethea was merrily chatting with a Forsadon woman, her hands topped over the latter, they act like real sisters instead of neighbors, at their side, on his fine elven kid clothing, her son was standing.
"Beautiful sister, can I feel the baby in your belly please?" At a moment of silence, he butts in.
Huethea, twisting her neck to look at him, couldn't help but wonder. Her son will become a sweet talker or obedient whenever he has to, never do naughty mischief for fun, and gets serious or uses his irresistible cuteness to get what he wants. You even dress adorably, who taught you that?
The Forsadon woman, seeing a sweet child asking such a simple request, nodded with a smile of approval. She just ignores the fact that her belly isn't even protruding yet and her unborn child is only at its few weeks, what's there to feel? As if it can kick already.
'Let's start,' he prompt Blanche.
Palm on the woman's belly, he and Blanche sensed the victim's soul, a cheerful grin shaped on his mouth for it was a girl. It was on its forming stage, as delicate as the souls of fungi flowers he has wrecked. Using his sense and influence, and Blanche's strong soul, he carefully drains out the soul of the unborn as he guides Blanche inside for the takeover.
As quickly as replacing the water on the glass for a new one, it was done.
"The baby will grow into a fine Forsadon," he childishly said, but it was given, like a god bestowing a blessing to a mortal.
