Chapter 7

Dev returned to his home after leaving the hospital instead of going to the party venue.

Lights were off in Dev's house. It was 2073, yet Birthday surprises were still a thing.

Surprise appeared on his face when he entered the house because no one was there. His face went from smiling to crying in no time.

Jubilation appeared on his face when he entered his room. A gift box was lying on his bed. Dev rushed back to open the gift box.

Surprise appeared on his face, there were only two things in the gift box: one was a Chip, the other thing was a code written on paper.

Dev connected the Chip with his Watch to see the contents on the Chip. Astonishment appeared on Dev's face as Chip contained a 3D model of an apartment.

After becoming 16, people became independent of their parents, they need to manage their lives by themselves now.

Dev was jubilant after getting this gift. He knew what the second gift was. It was an access code for his Car.

Gone are the days, you needed a key for a car. Now the AI watch handles everything. You just have to add the access code to your profile and that car is yours now.

The access code started with ZYX, so he knew what Car it was. ZY was the biggest automobile Brand in India. X was the series of their most expensive vehicles. Dev's happiness knew no bounds, as his mother never let Dev spend money on a luxury. It must be his father's gift.

Dev was laughing out loud thinking about how he'd look driving his expensive car when he suddenly got a call.

Isha was calling Dev. He picked up the call and his mother appeared on screen with a hint of anger on her face.

"Where are you?" asked Isha angrily.

"I'm in my room opening my gift," answered Dev.

"Come to the roof, didn't you see lights on the roof when you were near the house?" said Isha, and cut the call.

Dev facepalmed himself, he thought that they'll organize a party in the living area. Dev changed his clothes and walked to the roof party.

As Dev pushed the roof door, he was startled by hearing the loud 'Surprise!'. Dev didn't have to fake the surprised look. It automatically came.

Dev's father was named Aryan. Aryan was in his late 40s. He had light brown skin, black hair, and black eyes. He looked like he was in his early 30s.

Aryan came up to Dev and patted his shoulder. Aryan winked at him and asked, "Did you like my gift?"

Isha glared at Aryan, he didn't dare to look at Isha because of the glare.

The gifts were given to him without taking his mother in confidence, Dev could see that.

Isha came up to Dev, she grabbed his hand to take him to meet other guests before Dev could answer his father's question.

Dev's Grandparents were waiting for him. Only his grandfather was alive, his grandmother died early in an accident.

Dev's Grandfather was in his early 80s. Dev bent down and touched the feet of his grandfather, who in return patted Dev's head and said, "May God bless you!"

Dev was very close to his grandfather, dev never had any money problem even though his mother was very strict about it, because of his grandfather. His grandfather would always send him everything that he wants and Isha can't do anything about it.

Dev's grandfather took out a piece of paper and gave it to Dev. Before Dev could take it, Isha grabbed the paper and walked away.

A smile came out on both Dev and his grandfather's face.

Dev's grandfather patted his shoulder and told him, "Go and celebrate with your friends. You don't need to waste this day spending with an old man."

Dev smiled and said, "You, an old man. You must be joking."

"That gift doesn't count, I didn't get it," Continued Dev.

Dev's grandfather smiled and said, "You'll get your message tomorrow. Now go and enjoy!"

Dev left after nodding his head. Dev didn't go to the party organized by his friends, so he also has to apologize to them.

Dev walked toward his friend's circle, there were 7 people in that circle, three being girls, and the other four being boys.

His friends noticed him coming toward them, all 7 of them had a smile on their face which didn't look genuine at all.

Before Dev could speak anything, one of his friends said to a girl named Riti in the group, "Riti, did you know? I saved a girl today. She was very beautiful. I think I like her."

Riti said in return, "Oh so you finally liked... a ..." Dev closed Riti's mouth before she could continue.

Dev glared at Riti and then deviously smiled at the guy who spoke first, the guy felt chilled after seeing Dev's smile.

"Oh! What did Khyati do to get such a boyfriend? She'll be heartbroken when I send her this video." Said Dev while smirking, and then he played the video.

The whole group started laughing except that guy because he got a call from his girlfriend.

After laughing for some time, Riti asked Dev, "I know you. You aren't a good person at all, you would've never saved anyone even if the person is dying on the road."

Dev retorted, "I'll save the person if they're dying. I am a good person."

The whole group made a vomiting face after hearing this. Dev felt awkward and then indignant.

"Aunty can't hear us," scoffed one of the guys.

Dev stopped acting and then became serious and said, "Yes, I didn't know why but I couldn't stop myself from saving her. She was very attractive."

Dev's face became pale the next moment because one of the guys named Pratik acted, "Aun… Aunty..."

Dev turned around slowly, he felt relief when he didn't see his mother, he turned back and kicked Pratik in the crotch. Pratik didn't stand up for the whole party after that.

While Dev was conversing and joking with his friends, His mother called him for the cake cutting.

Dev cut the cake, he fed the first piece of cake to his Grandfather, the second piece to his mother, and the third piece to his father.

Aryan was glaring at Dev the whole time he was eating the cake. Isha scoffed at Aryan, and then she gently smiled at Dev.

Isha took out a cylindrical Gift box, she gave it to Dev. Isha nudged him to open the gift box.

Dev was astonished and hugged his mother right away after getting the gift, Isha gifted a telescope to Dev.

It was the best telescope available on the market. It cost a fortune. It was of the Aryabhatta series.

It was the best gift for Dev. Other invited people also started giving gifts to the birthday boy.

The party continued for the whole night, Dev wasn't in condition to open gifts. He was tired due to just moving the whole day. Dev slept the whole next day. He woke up in the morning of the next day.

Dev felt relaxed until he heard the sound of gurgling in his stomach. He rushed to the fridge to get everything that could be eaten. He ate to his fill. After eating he brushed his teeth and took a bath.

He started checking unread notifications on his watch. The first notification that caught his eye was the alert from the bank due to the credit of a huge amount.

A big smile came on Dev's face because of so much money in his bank account. He knew this must be his grandfather's gift.

Dev suddenly remembered that he hadn't got a call from the injured girl, so he started checking alerts related to calls and messages.

Uneasiness appeared on his face because he couldn't see any alert related to the girl.

Dev decided to go to the hospital to see whether the girl is fine or not. It was only the early morning so Dev decided to go later.

As Dev was free, he started checking the gifts he got on his birthday.

Most of the gifts he got were shopping vouchers. He didn't get any bad gifts. Who doesn't love money? Dev decided to spend the Vouchers to buy the house stuff when he moved into his new house.

Time flies, it was 10 am, Dev thought this is the right time to go to the hospital. Dev decided to get a cab to the hospital. He left his house and ordered a cab.

The cab came in 5 minutes, Dev sat in the back of the Cab. The cab took him to the hospital.

Dev reached the hospital and proceeded toward the room, where the injured girl was treated. Dev noticed the door was closed, Dev opened the door and became stunned.
