《DEAD MAN'S JOURNEY》CHAPTER - 12

*Boom*

I hit a tree trunk as my body almost curved at an unbelievable angle.

"Ahge!"

I vomited blood.

"Where's my plot armor?"

I was a little disheartened with the situation right now.

*Bam*

A kick landed on my rips as I broke through the tree and rolled on the ground.

*Thud*

The tree fell from the broken part, fell on the ground as a red figure walked towards me.

"What the hell are you?"

I made a fireball and shot it at the red skinned monster but it was dodged.

The monster's reaction and agility were so fast almost making me unable to see.

I grinded my teeth and made a ice spear with my left hand.

"Take this!"

I didn't aim for the monster, instead I wanted the ice spear to blast on the ground near it.

Rumble!

I slammed my right hand on the ground and made an earth wall between me and the monster.

*Boom*

The loud explosion of the ice spear was heard.

"Ha…"

I took a quick breather, but then stood up with great difficulty.

"Where's the scepter?"

I looked around and saw the scepter lying near a bush.

*Boom*

The earth wall which I created with the help of the black glove, cracked open.

The huge pieces of earth scattered everywhere.

One such piece crashed on my back and pushed me on the ground.

"No!"

A hand grabbed my head and lifted me up from the ground.

My feets couldn't touch the ground. To note that I am at least 2 meters in height.

It turned me around and then our eyes met.

Definitely not a romantic scene!

Now that I focused, I was stunned. This monster was extremely similar to my image of a devil.

Just a few differences that is.

It had long horns which were curved, an ugly face with no nose.

A mouth full of razor sharp teeth, a long sticky tongue which dripped saliva.

Its body is almost 3 meters with completely red skin and is so human -like.

Except for the wings and a tail, it was a perfect example of a demon or devil from hell.

"Keke!"

Licking its lips, it let out a creepy laugh. It tilted its head and stared at me.

I left like a broken toy which was about to face the most dangerous fate.

Shattered to pieces!

Smashed to fragments!

"Let. Me. Go."

I didn't know if this devil-like monster would understand human language.

So I just made my words very clear.

But of course, if it would let me go now. I will be surprised as to why it would even attack in the first place.

'A little longer!'

Actually I was buying some time to gather the energy in the surroundings.

As for why I didn't do it from the beginning?

That's because I need to concentrate and focus or I will just fail.

And in the middle of a battle to death, could I do so?

Would my enemy wait patiently for me to complete my finishing move?

It's like, "Yes, you do that. I will wait here. Thankfully I will have my backstory shown before I die. And all the people will cry for me at last!"

Back to reality, I looked at the monster with a grunt.

Then I saw it stare at me even more intensely.

*Stab*

With its right hand which was free, it formed a spear like with the fingers and stabbed me again in the same place.

'Damn! It had just healed!'

My eyes red as I glared at the monster. Guess it has noticed the changes of energy in the surroundings.

"You're late."

I said with a bloody smirk on my face as I held out my right hand and channeled the energy in its heart.

*Puff*

Its chest moved as the beating heart in it was blasted in multiple parts.

"I ain't no joke."

*Thud*

The grip on my head left as I fell on the ground. The monster opened its mouth to say something but it failed.

"Burn to nothing!"

White-blue flames circled around the devil like a red monster.

As the fire went away, nothing was left on the place where the monster once stood.

"I need to get out of here."

I lost too much blood and it was affecting me in not a very good way.

My skin had turned somewhat pale, cold and clammy.

My heart beat rapidly as I could hear it echo in me wildly. But I had a weak pulse.

Shallow breathing, lightheadedness, dizziness and confusion.

"Fuu… I can feel anything except pain."

Now it didn't make much difference whether I could feel pain or not.

I walked to the scepter weakly and picked it up. It was heavy, mostly because I was exhausted.

Since I was starting to use the energy in me and the surroundings frequently, my control over it had also increased.

Now my regeneration speed quickened with a slight increase in my strength.

But obviously not by much.

That's for later to talk. Now I need to get out of here before another monster arrives.

"I will use everything I have for now."

I held the scepter tightly as the little energy in me went towards the scepter.

This time, unlike how I started. There wasn't any sound wave or blast.

I came flying like a jet fighter, but am returning like a weightless cloud depended on the wind.

Gratefully, I saw a small herd of deer grazing grass near a cliff.

They never expected that from such a clear and clean sky, lightning would strike one of them.

*Boom*

The lighting wasn't strong enough to rip the deer flesh apart but enough to roast it alive.

* * *

I flew towards the Palace with the electrocuted deer.

Even this was a burden to my body.

'From next time onwards, don't mess with the monsters you can't beat.'

This was today's lesson I learned.

Before I got these black gloves, I knew the worth of a life… My life.

But I started changing, and now I am becoming overconfident and arrogant.

Only now did I remember, after facing death so close, life is but one.

Even though I might revive. Who knows how many times I can?

Maybe the next time I die, I won't return.

So I must, from now onwards, cherish my life more than anything.

Even if the price to pay is all my power.

There's a idiom in hindi, "Sar Salamat, to Pagdi hazaar."

In English: If your head is intact, you can have a thousand turbans.

Meaning: In troubled times, save yourself first, everything else is unimportant.

"I will stick with this!"

I vowed to myself as I looked forward and soon arrived at the Palace.

From the second level, Adam and Eve has already seen me flying so they came not long after me.

"My King!"

They bowed their heads. I nodded and dropped the dead deer on the ground.

"You two will soon start going into the forest for hunting. That will also be a good way to improve your magic."

I said with a serious voice, but inside was a completely different atmosphere.

'I need rest! My head's spinning! I am feeling blurry!'

I then walked towards the front hall followed by Adam and Eve.

"I will be resting. You continue to teach those two Nobles."

With that, I headed up towards my bedroom to a good sleep.

"King is injured."

Adam broke the silence between him and Eve.

"Yes, all his clothes are ripped from various parts."

Eve also noticed the state Birkang was when he landed on the lawn.

"It's a little scary to think that the King is actually injured. Even though I can't see a drop of blood on him."

Eve clenched her hands together and looked at the stairs where Birkang had walked.

"We must be careful and also strong enough or we might not survive."

Adam held the deer over his shoulder and looked at Eve with a grave face.

"Yes."

Eve nodded and they went to the kitchen to store the deer for later.

* * *

"Damn!"

Looking at my clothes, I was infuriated.

"I liked it a lot!"

I held the ripped t-shirt and almost bursted into tears.

Giving it a last hug, I burned it to nothing.

"Those monsters! Demons or red goblins! I will eradicate them!"

I took a bath before lying on the bed.

Only now did it feel better. I couldn't move my body a bit.

"Ha…"

It seems exhausting one's body makes them fall asleep faster.

Without me knowing, I was in a dream surrounded by water.

Everywhere my eyes went, all I saw was blue water reflecting the sky.

But then I had entered the third perspective view unknowingly.

My vision saw myself standing on the water with an outline inside it.

Soon I saw what lurked in the water as a huge mouth came out of the water.

And unfortunately, I was at the center of that mouth.

Water splashed around and I returned back to my original body.

I saw the mouth closing as everything near me turned dark.

The water inside the mouth was sucked in deeper as I struggled to escape.

I was sinking in, no matter how I swam, I would just go further in.

Light was visible at the end but I felt an unimaginable danger from it.

My instincts screamed at me telling me to hurry and go away from the light.

But I couldn't, and at last, was pushed with the water current at the light.

*Bam*

I fell from the bed.
