《Breaking The Game》Quest 65: Order A Herd

“Run faster!” Rex shouted as he sprinted down the cobblestone streets. The pedestrians immediately rushed to the sides of the road as three men ran through. Their faces were warped with terror. It was plain to see why. The group was being chased by a woman dragging a cart behind her. Another woman sat atop the cart, holding on for dear life. Behind that duo was a herd of cattle, sheep, goats, and horses. Animals of all shapes and sizes were following the group like a train of livestock.
“I can’t keep going,” Nicholas cried as the chase continued. He still wasn’t used to running for extended periods of time. Typically, [Stamina Increase II] and [Sprint] would have helped him in this situation. He should have been able to keep up with the others, but his run started well before the other two got involved. The situation was partly his to blame, which is why he was at the start of it. What made the scenario worse was that Lust was the one chasing after them. As a demon, she had more endurance and strength than the average person. It wasn’t hard to keep up with the three men and their pitiful fleeing skills.
“Over there!” Xander yelled. He dashed to the front of the pack and pointed at a familiar-looking corner. It was sort of nostalgic. Running like this. Turning the same corner. Planning to hide. It was nice. Then, they remembered the mortal danger they were in. A herd of animals was chasing after them. Their pursuers wouldn’t be fooled by a simple turn and rushing into an empty building. That was especially true for the woman pulling the cart and leading the pack.
“Guys! Stop running! You need to help Robyn!” Lust shouted. She was annoyed that she had to chase the three men at all. Her first few moments back in the city from working were immediately interrupted by the team’s shenanigans. Again. It was becoming a recurring theme, to the point that Lust started to doubt if her friends really were heroes.

Robyn in particular was disappointing. She froze out of panic the moment she accidentally commanded all animals to follow her. Genesis had rarely taken her joke orders seriously, so it was startling to have it happen at the worst time. Lust was the only one to act properly. When the boys ran for their lives, she stayed behind to grab Robyn and run away. The cart was later stolen because it made running easier, and Robyn could have a better grip on it as the mob of animals chased her. All in all The Unnamed Team was a mess.
“She’s a big girl! She can handle herself!” Rex shouted. There wasn’t a reason to involve him. He wasn’t the one that activated the skill. He couldn't deactivate the skill. He didn’t have a skill that could negate the effects of others. There was nothing he could do except run for his life as the herd continued its chase. Robyn was the only person who could stop this, but she also couldn't do so at the moment.
“Yeah, I’m sure you can help her out!” Xander said. Out of everyone present, Lust was the one with the most experience. After all, she was a sin and was originally from this world. She would be the one to talk to about skills, levels, and how the world worked. It also helped that the sins knew about Genesis to an extent, calling it the voice. Her demonic origins helped as well, extending her lifespan well beyond that of a human. All signs point to her being the resident expert on essentially everything.
“Xander! I swear, if you don’t-” Lust tried to say as the chase continued. A sudden new and familiar presence startled her.
“Stop! All of you!” Guardsman Oliver shouted at the group of adventurers. He may have been grateful that they took him to the capital, but he couldn't turn a blind eye. Not after he'd just been promoted for his devotion to the crown and his recent brief training with Emperor Crach. The position of Officer First Class was not one to be trifled with. Oliver held his spear out against his friends. He couldn’t hesitate. Heroes or not, the city needed to be protected from The Unnamed Team. It pained him to take up arms against his friends, but this was his job. Unfortunately, the team didn’t care about his determination.

“Not this time, buddy! I can’t stop this train wreck! Go, stranger that Rex and I don’t know!” Nicholas said with a smile. He didn’t have a plan like when this first happened. This wasn’t a swarm of bugs that would simply dissipate. These animals would rampage in the southern plaza if no one could stop them. That was why Xander was sent to the frontlines. Lust was most likely to chase after him. The three men all had roughly the same amount of intelligence, so Lust would undoubtedly follow the man she loved subconsciously. The others could easily run off and forget about the issue altogether.
“I hate you both!” Xander shouted as the others left. Now that his skill [Unadorned] was maxed, he couldn’t tell if the two were messing with him when they said they didn’t know him. Sometimes, it was a joke. Other times, the team would need to use their flashcards to remember their poor friend. Xander was insistent on stopping the jokes altogether to prevent any confusion, but that was no fun. It even got to the point that Robyn was getting involved.
With Xander having Lust’s attention, he ran toward the city’s southern exit. It wasn’t ideal, but it was better than nothing. Robyn was dragged along, much to her horror, and the herd of animals came along for the ride. Meanwhile, Rex and Nicholas were able to stop their grueling run. Smiles were clear to see as they gasped for air. The two pumped their fists and prepared to take a long rest back at the tavern.
Unfortunately for them, they were instead greeted with several guards and a high fine for the destruction of property, causing a panic, etc.

Which was why he was surprised by a random company on a new colony planet buying out his contract. That was the problem with the large companies that ruled the colonies, once they owned your contract, they owned you. Imagine the greater surprise when he learnt that the new company held the promise of freedom. Not from the constant battle against the Swarm that were also trying to claim the colony planets for their own. Nor from the Crust, the mysterious substance that covered the same planets and held the resources they all fought for. No, the freedom from being oppressed by those with more power and to finally decide where to go and where to set down roots and call home.
