《Realistic Tower of God: The Martial Way》Chapter 77- First Station Part 3

When the explosion subsided, the spearman lay on the white floor with severe injuries as his hands gripped a broken spear.
Yuwen tried to speak as blood leaked out from his mouth. "What was that shinsu control? Even if you controlled five bangs, they shouldn't have been so powerful. You could even block my whirlpool spear."
Xin already stood up with a calm expression. Other than a few bruises, there was nothing else on his body. "It's called Amplification Style, a Ranker taught me the technique."
"I see… I didn't expect that you are a skilled wave controller, I thought you were a scout. I guess the Hell Train really does attract strong people like you, even those ten great families' descendants I've met weren't as strong as you." He grinned excitedly.
Alex was surprised at seeing this, he didn't expect that Yuwen was easily defeated.
He indeed had a screw loose in his head but that was exactly what had made him strong. He liked to face dangers and kept improving to continue to seek the excitement.
"Hey, I know that it's too much and hypocritical of me, but can you let me go? I still want to fight more strong people, you know. My friend has another ticket on him, you can take it as the compensation."
"Damnit, Yuwen! Why did you sell out my ticket!?" Alex cursed him in anger.
Yuwen had a wronged face and spoke with a straight, innocent voice. "Hey, what did you mean selling your ticket out? I have just helped you out a few moments ago, and now you're accusing me? It's just a friendship's things, we help each other out. Since I have helped you, you have to help me."
Alex let out a deep sigh.

The idiot had sold him out, it didn't matter at this point since the boy already told them that he needed more than one ticket. Regardless of whether he would comply with Yuwen's request or not, the boy would attack him if he didn't give his ticket.
Xin spoke with a sincere smile. "Okay, I appreciate it. Thank you for telling me that, I really need it." Their wary faces turned into relief at this.
However, his next words betrayed their relief. "But Mr. Liu told me not to spare any enemies I've made, so I guess I'll just take it forcefully."
Crack!
Alex saw Xin suddenly had disappeared from his spot and an afterimage of a foot in his peripheral vision before he felt a painful hit on his neck and heard a cracking sound, and his sight finally slipped into the darkness.
Seeing his friend had been kicked to the corner with a broken neck, Yuwen got up shakily as he held his broken spear and stared at the yellow-haired boy.
"I didn't expect that you haven't even used all of your power. I guess it's fine to die right now. Thank you, it's the most exciting fight I've ever had till now."
Yuwen used all of his strength and managed to stab his spear's shaft on Xin's chest as a needle went through his heart. It was really unfortunate. He might have had a better chance if he had a just little bit better spear.
Xin took the ticket and put it inside his lighthouse. "I guess I'm lucky to get two tickets. Hopefully, Mr. Liu and princess Adori got one. Well, let's search the other compartments since there's still some time before the train reaches the Train City. Even if we don't need it, we can still sell it."

Xin walked to another chaotic compartment as the regulars fought each other.
The train was really dangerous. Even if a regular had a ticket, it didn't guarantee their entry to Hell Train. Only the truly powerful can protect their tickets or take them from others.
This was just the beginning, and there would be much more dangerous things.
Because this was the… Hell Train!
. . . . . .
Xin hopped off the now silent train. Nobody had come down after him. He made sure to "look meticulously" for the tickets at every nook and cranny, so he had swept clean the whole train.
Looking ahead, he saw a big building painted in a dull gray color. Hanging on top of the entrance, there was a board with the words, "Welcome to Train City".
There were many people moving around to and fro in groups near the entrance, showing just how much the regulars were attracted to Hell Train.
Xin continued walking and entered the building. Then, he arrived in front of a massive elevator with six buttons, showing there were exactly six floors.
There was a description of each floor on the buttons.
The first one was the entrance, the second one was the residence, the third one was the restaurant, the fourth one was the stadium, the fifth one was the control center room, and the last one was the skyscraper, the place where the Hell Train would park to pick up the regulars in the Train City before starting its journey to the higher floors.
Since Xin had received a message from Liu Guanyi, he didn't hesitate to push the second button. The elevator opened, showing its shiny metallic interior. Xin got inside, and the lift quickly closed and moved upward to the second floor.
When the elevator opened, Xin saw many regulars huddling around near rooms with numbers on their doors, from one to one hundred. The regulars truly packed the floor.
Xin estimated that there were more than three hundred of them on this floor alone.
He knew why the regulars were here. They were waiting for any ticket holders to show up to get into the rooms to gang up on them and steal their tickets.
This could happen because only the ticket holders could open the rooms with the same numbers on their tickets.
Since the Hell Train didn't arrive right away when the regulars came to Train City, most ticket holders would try to use the rooms, and that was when the regulars would exploit the opportunity.
If the ticket holders weren't experienced nor powerful enough to scare off the potential stealers, they could fall unknowingly into the trap. Xin had researched about the Train City so he was quite knowledgeable about it.
Even though he couldn't use a lighthouse effectively in battle, it didn't mean that lighthouse was worthless to him.
Instead, just like what Liu Guanyi told him, the most useful function of a lighthouse is to look and gather information and not to fight.

Paternum: A Superhero Story
When Quinn finds an experimental superpower-granting costume in their parents’ attic, they didn’t expect to be drawn into a web of superhuman intrigue, but their discovery serves as the catalyst for that conspiracy to slowly unravel. At it’s heart, Paternum is an extended coming-of-age story for the main character as they become a superhero, in a world with more reasonable stakes and less powerful heroes than many superheroic worlds. Themes include what art means to different people, and what it means to be a patron, whether as a sponsor, a parent, or a supporter. I consider Paternum‘s primary influences to be the various versions of Spider-Man, J. C. McCrae’s own superhero story Worm, and Drew Hayes’ story SuperPowereds. I hope that fans of such stories can find something to enjoy in mine as well. Paternum is primarily hosted on my website (thevoidwrites.com) where it updates weekly in groups of scenes totalling approximately 2000 words. Here on Royal Road, it will update once daily with one scene at a time, but only after each act is completed on the home site - the next batch of updates is scheduled to begin on February 5th. There is a discord channel for discussion (discordapp.com/invite/QFMM6yA), and you can vote for Paternum on topwebfiction (topwebfiction.com/vote.php?for=paternum) as well. Finally, you can buy the first book of Paternum, The Swift Uplifting Rush, in a couple different ways - as an ebook through Amazon, or directly from me for a discounted price, or as a physical paperback from Amazon. Buying the book will give you access to Drawing Hands, an exclusive arc that won't ever be published on either my site or Royal Road.

This is a primarily Fantasy story, with Sci-Fi elements that will mostly be emerging later on. This story (and a related project) has a discord channel dedicated to it!
