Yuwen walked calmly holding a long spear in his left hand.
Seeing their looks, he spoke arrogantly. "Why are you surprised? Haven't seen an amazing and talented spear bearer yet?"
"Guys, don't be afraid, he only managed to surprise us by attacking from behind. No matter how strong they are, we can quickly overwhelm them with numbers." The tall man quickly encouraged his allies.
The regulars calmed down at his words and their will to fight was restored. Some of them reacted quickly and rushed towards Yuwen, and delivered their attacks at him.
Yuwen ducked and twirled his spear nimbly, deflecting the attack of one of the regulars, and pushed his spear forward, piercing right through his throat.
Not wasting any movements, Yuwen quickly stepped back, evading another attack from the regulars, and swung his spear upward, the tip came in contact with the regular's face, cutting it nicely in half.
He jumped up, almost hitting the ceiling, and drove his spear down rapidly and repeatedly, delivering a barrage of thrusts at their heads, sending them fell down lifelessly with bloody holes in their faces.
The battle quickly finished in a short time as Yuwen efficiently killed them one by one with his spear. With his dexterous hands, the unassuming spear in his hands had become a fearsome man-killing weapon as it whipped away the regulars' lives.
Soon, there were only three of them left, the tall man, Alex, and Yuwen as the bloody corpses of the regulars littered the compartment, painting it red in blood.
Looking at his masterwork, Yuwen rested his bloody spear on his shoulder and looked at the ticket hunter. "Is that it? You guys aren't exciting at all."
Witnessing how Yuwen had massacred the regulars with such ease, Alex looked at him solemnly. 'He has become much stronger than a few years ago, what a monster…' His gaze quickly softened.

He wasn't afraid of him at all. This was exactly the reason why he had befriended Yuwen despite his crazy tendencies, he was a powerful ally.
Alex turned to the tall man. "You are a ticket hunter, right? So, you should have at least one ticket. Give it to us or my friend will just drive his spear through your head just like what he just did to your grunts."
"A-alright, sir. I'll do it but please forgive me and spare my life." The man spoke with a trembling voice. He couldn't help but shake in his pants after seeing the battle- no, massacre.
"Here, please spare my life, si-." The tall regular pulled out his ticket and was about to throw it to them out of fear before a needle suddenly pierced his heart and protruded out of his chest from behind.
The killer showed himself as he took the ticket from the dying regular. He looked very young with short stature. He had yellow hair and wore simple clothes.
He looked at Yuwen and Alex with an apologetic smile. "Sorry, but I also really need the ticket, these are pretty hard to find. I have looked in the other compartments and only found this one. My companions said that we have to board the Hell Train this year so you don't mind, right?"
Alex looked ahead and though it was hard to see it clearly, he saw that the other compartment was completely silent.
It seemed that the boy wasn't just bluffing.
Yuwen didn't seem to mind it and asked in an excited tone instead. "Who are you, another ticket hunter? You seem quite strong."
"Well, since I and my companions need certainly need more than one ticket, I guess you can call me a ticket hunter. I can go away, right?" Xin asked politely as he pointed to the door behind them.

Yuwen smirked. "Sorry, boy. I need it as well, you know. Plus, I think you are a decent fighter. Let's settle this conflict with the good old way passed eons ago in the tower. Even if you die, there are no hard feelings, okay?"
"I consider it that you've agreed!" Without waiting, Yuwen jabbed his spear toward Xin's head very fast. Xin reacted well as he ducked quickly, missing the spear right above his hair.
Xin dashed to the ground, closing their gap to get into his effective range, and counterattacked with a sharp stab at his stomach.
Yuwen was surprised with his speed, but he managed to get his spear's shaft down to block the stab, but since it was too fast, he couldn't completely block it as it diverted and grazed his outer thigh.
Fortunately, he quickly reacted and managed to back away in time before any follow-ups. Yuwen focused his attention on Xin as his eyes lit up in excitement. "Alex, back off. I have to get serious this time."
Yuwen twisted his spear rapidly, moving it to the left, right, up continuously. As he continued spinning his spear, a bluish color started to appear in the rotation, making it more beautiful. However, Xin didn't just stand to see him finishing his shinsu ability.
He covered his needle in Shinsu and moved into the spear reach.
Yuwen smiled seeing it as he jumped to the side and whipped his blue spear using the momentum.
Xin tried to block it, but even with Shinsu enhancing his body, the spear was too heavy, and he was sent backward.
Yuwen saw this opportunity and jumped forward as he kept twisting his spear, making the bluish Shinsu became much deeper.
Spear Technique: Whirlpool of Spear!
Finally, he stopped rotating his spear as swirls of blues covered it, and swung the spear downward right toward Xin!
However, Xin reacted quickly as he pointed both of his hands upward.
Shinsu Control Amplification Style: Great Blue Bird!
Creating five waves of Shinsu that converged to become one in the form of a big blue bird. The blue bird spread its wings and flew toward the flashing blue spear!
Booooomm!!!
The bird sparkled in a beautiful blue wave as it struck the spear, creating a blue explosion that filled the compartment and destroyed the glass windows on both sides.

Flame Beneath The Snowfall
Alto is a world governed by Tones. Magic, as one might call it. Manifested through deep mental and physical conditioning, one can control the Tones in a way that is unique to them. The power to store items in gems, transfer life, affect a person's mind, and even the more primal abilities such as control of the elements. Those who have these supernatural abilities are called 'Vassals.' People that fully manifest their abilities are not as common as one might think, and not all Vassals acquire their ability through practice, given if conditions are met. In fact, those who had received much trauma manifest the Tones more frequently, albeit spontaneously. However, the rare kind of Vassals are those who manifest it from childhood. A gift, but not without its repercussions. Alto is stuck in a transitional era, where the line between modern and dated technology is blurred. One can travel to a city that has a tall skyline, bustling with people in sophisticated clothing, or a mere town governed by a lord, all the while riding on a powered vehicle. Cultures vary: Some turn to the more dated practices such as castes, others are more inclined to set equal footing on their people, led by nobility. Some are dedicated to become scholars, studying Alto's Tones, while others set foot on hunts, protecting lone towns from the creatures of some of the still-untamed lands. And the Vassals? Those willing are took under The Organization, an elusive group, its presence said to permeate all throughout Alto, taking care of Rogue Vassals that abuse their abilities and other businesses related to their side. But what is this story all about, you may ask? Well, set your sights on the upper portions of this huge landmass that is Alto. Yes, the 'whole' world is called Alto, but that is because the majority of the known people live on this large continent. Relieve yourself of the worrying tensions everywhere, and see the white snow. Trace the piercing mountaintops and focus your eyes between the valley. A town sits there. Mido. After realizing that the memories only left in his mind was the night of his town's imminent destruction in flames, a boy finds himself grasping for every fiber of his life as he lays down flat on the ground. Beneath him was soot mixed with the white snow. Fortunately, a group of investigators, who were supposed to answer their call for help, saved him from his sorry state. With a newfound second wind, but hampered by his loss of memory, he must solve his own case: Who had the audacity to set Mido, his town, aflame? Flame Beneath the Snowfall focuses on action, with a sense of adventure, but mostly the discovery of an outside world, and the protagonist's exposure to it. Add in a whisk of soft magical elements, and you get a story that I hope will be interesting to the readers. That is not to say that my work is without the sense of unnerving atmosphere, however. As a forewarning, there are elements of gore, horror, minor elements of mental trauma, etc. so it is not for all audiences. *The book is already completed. Although I have plans to continue the story (it would have to involve much larger scope in terms of world-building), I have yet to decide when to start the next entry.
