《Khaldir's Observer》Chapter 2: “You got isekai’d too!”

No way! Did I really get isekai’d? Sure, I often have hoped to be transported into another world, but I never expected it to really happen. “Guess I have to be careful with what I wish for, huh.”

Another thing that came to my mind was the commenter Supreme_God-Emperor_Bob. Because of his name, I would assume he is a man, albeit you could never be sure on the internet. Was he truly a supreme God like his username stated? Well, I didn’t know anyone or anything else who could turn a written story into reality. Bob also mentioned that he wanted to show this universe to other gods. Seriously, where did all these gods live?

Wait a moment, I got something wrong. I could still not be sure that this here was the world of my story. I hadn’t met any of my characters yet or seen any unbelievable alien constructions. Airships did exist in the past, and I could easily imagine them. As far as I know, I could still be on Earth, and this was all a stage work. Or even more likely, my body was lying in a dream facility and was being experimented with, or I am in a coma. Presumed I actually transmigrated, and this was genuinely the world of my novel, there was no evidence that Bob created this world. Maybe my story already produced all of this, and he was only responsible for connecting the two worlds. (…) Okay, I should stop fantasizing, now wasn’t the right moment to brainstorm for story ideas. Anyway, I could only come to the correct conclusion after I had more information, so let’s move out.

Time should be around midday, I believed. The sun shone softly, and it was quite warm. I felt a refreshing wind. Although pollution wasn’t that bad where I lived, it could never hold a candle to the environment here. Usually, I had to travel to the Alps to breathe comparable air.

I looked around to see if I could recognize any landmarks. On my right side, there was a dense forest in the distance. The foreign trees appeared quite ominous, and I couldn’t see far inside. Other than that, I could only see endless grassland that gently rose in front of me.

I had no clue where I was. This place was literally somewhere in nowhere. Why didn’t Bob teleport me close to a city? Judging by the previous airship, the odds were high that I was on the steampunk planet Techma, the world I introduced in my latest chapters. Should I try following the airship?

“Ahhhhhhhhh!!!!”

I heard a familiar high-pitched cry. A lean young man, 1,80m in high, with short blond hair and wearing a Saitama t-shirt, jeans as well as red slippers, suddenly appeared in a crouching pose a few meters away from me. Stefan Sichel entered the scene with great fanfare. There was no portal or blinding flash; he just came into existence from one moment to another. This gave rise to some questions but most importantly.

“Why are you screaming?”

I hadn’t felt any pain during the transmigration, nor did I fall from somewhere high. On the contrary, the movement happened close to instantly, so there was no reason to scream.

Stefan finally stopped bellowing like a banshee and looked at me doubtfully. “Markus, is that you? Forget it, what a silly question. Only you will wear such a stupid headband so proudly.”

Hey, I felt offended. This headband gave me the courage to write a novel. What accomplishment could you show me, huh?

Stefan straightened up and asked, “what happened? Where are we? We are not dead, right? Looks nice here.”

Typical Stefan, at first always overreacting but then calming down very swiftly. “No, I don’t think so. At least I cannot remember my death. What’s the last thing you remember doing?”

Stefan’s eyebrows furrowed in concentration. “I have played a few Lol matches with Dominik. Then we have eaten dinner. After that, I have started reading your web novel.”

“Hmmm, anything else?”

“Oh yes, right; I remember now. After I have finished chapter 6, I have left a comment there criticizing the fact that most of the characters were still not described and that I can’t visualize their appearances. Then someone has sent me a message together with a link, telling me that I can see the characters in person using that link. I recall he has had a weird chunni name, something with Bob. I have thought to myself, sure why not, and have clicked on the link.

GREATEST… MISTAKE…. IN… MY LIFE. Immediately I have begun to spin like a drill flying into my monitor. Then I briefly became a shooting star drifting in space. What follows was even stranger. Two humongous faces as big as planets were spitting at each other. A spaceship resembling a maid-Gundam siphoned with a silvery vacuum cleaner the ocean water of a planet. A boy playing Tetris…”

“Wait, why is a boy playing Tetris strange? Did he use planets as blocks or what?”

“No, it was on a regular smartphone. But have you learned nothing from ‘Men in Black’? The most ‘normal’ stuff in a weird situation is the most suspicious one!”

“…..” I wanted to refute but couldn’t find the right words.

“Next, I landed on grass; you already know the rest.”

Very strange, compared to my transfer, my friend’s experiences seemed to differ a lot. But of course, only on the assumption that he wasn’t lying. Stefan sometimes likes to exaggerate stuff.

"So, have you taken something from my story?"

I replied seriously, “yes, don’t do drugs. I am clean and therefore my transmigration happened without any incidents.”

“……. You have appeared here the same way?”

“Link from Supreme_God-Emperor_Bob. A link between worlds.”

“…..”

“Sorry, cannot help it.” I told Stefan my side of the story.

“This supreme God Bob, what is his agenda? What do we do now? Can we go back? Hold on, we transmigrated, right? Have we gotten any superpowers or legendary artifacts?” Stefan looked at me with eager anticipation.

I stretched out my arm and opened my palm. “Fireball!”, “Status!”, “System Call!”, “Conjure bread!”

…… Nothing happened.

“Nopp, I am still the same old Markus Kuberski.”

“Great, this is the worst kind of isekai possible. Transmigrating with your weak original body, no cheat powers or overpowered equipment, no system, no wise grandpa in a bottle, absolutely nothing. That is not ‘The Isekai’ I signed up for!”

“Hey, be more optimistic. The probability is high that this is the world of my story. The knowledge I have as its author can easily qualify as a cheat.”

Stefan considerably livened up. “Oh, then do you know where to get overpowered equipment? Or is there a hidden legacy from some ancient existence that can make you a master?

“Ähhhhhhh….., there are, but they cannot be acquired by some weak guys like us. We will most likely die if we attempt the trial. By the way, this is a world that is pretty far into my story. The protagonist and his companions have some training and superpowers already, so I have ramped up the danger level. Most of the monsters and inhabitants of this world are considerably strong.

“Markus, I really don’t want to say it, but, you know…. we are fucked! I don’t know where you are getting your confidence. Are you aware of how ridiculous you look now? A tall but skinny young man with a nerd’s face, messy brown hair, and a short brown bristle beard. You are wearing Gary slippers, a blue striped pajama, and please take off that headband.”

I took off the headband and thus prevented Stefan from having a stroke. “Speaking of pajamas, when we transmigrated, it was night but here it is midday. We need to take of our metabolism and catch up on sleep later, or our concentration will fail at a critical point.”

“Metabolism, seriously? This is your greatest concern now? We will die!”

“Calm down! God Bob doesn't give the impression that he wishes to harm us. There are way less complicated methods for that. Also, a reader will never kill his favorite author. Imprisoning the author in a small black room and forcing him to write chapters, understandable. Killing? No, then he wouldn’t get any more chapters. From his message I can gather that he wants us to look at his work and enjoy it, so there should be a safety mechanism somewhere.”

“How can you be sure that-…hey, what is this?” Stefan pulled something out of his trousers pocket. It was a thumb-sized golden slime ball with a door-like imprint on its surface.

I immediately recognized it. “A universal translator fungus or short ‘Universal Translator’. This is an extremely expensive item from the organization ‘Explorer Foundation’.”

At that moment, I realized that I hadn’t checked my pockets yet. Shortly later, I took out an identical slime ball and a slip of paper. There was a text on the paper written in very small handwriting. The content was as follows.

“Greetings esteemed Observers, welcome to the grand dimensional network ‘Khaldir’….”

This jerk was spoiling the origin of my novel’s title.

“…. Endless opportunities await you in its depth. You want to use magic? Take a portal to a dimension where magic reigns supreme. You are more of the technological type? Take a portal to a dimension where intergalactic wars are being fought. You don’t like fighting and just want to farm? There are countless fertile worlds for you to build on your vegetables. You want to be at the top of the food chain? Then master Khaldir’s unique power system. Observers who just want to watch the show can do just that.

There are two complementary gifts for every participant to make their time in Khaldir easier and more comfortable. The first gift is a universal translator. Simply put the golden ball near your vocal cords, and voila, you will be able to understand and speak in any language. The second gift is kind of a privilege. You will gain the ability to turn on/off the ‘Observer Status’ by saying ‘Observer on’/ ‘Observer off’. If you are in ‘Observer Status’, residents of Khaldir below the soul level of ‘Astral Enlightenment’ will not notice your presence until you explicitly catch their attention. ‘Observer Status’ is always activated at the start. Be aware that this ability doesn’t protect you from stray bullets.

If you want to leave Khaldir and go back to your boring homeworld, call +01/666777888.

I wish you a good and fun time.

Disclaimer: I will not be held responsible for any kind of damage inside Khaldir.

Yours sincerely, Supreme God Emperor Bob”

Now I could be sure that we were inside my story world. But how dared Bob to make my story into a tourist attraction. When I got back, I would have my revenge.

“Hey, Markus, have you brought your cellphone with you?” Stefan asked me with a nervous expression.

“Oh”
