《Calandoris》Chapter 14 - Hints

AN: It's been a little while
******************************
Under the cover of the night, Tony and Robin infiltrated the town, their bags full of equipment. Even though it was night, there was still quite a bit of noise, mostly due to the many factories located in there that were still active. The air was quite polluted, but it wasn't unbearable either.
The town was lacking in diversity of colors, a lot of brown and grey, and the technological level was similar to that of the years 1940/1950, lower level than the secret research facility in the mountains, but still understandable to some extend. The best technology is never readily available for the public.
In their stealth equipment, Tony and Robin advanced in the city, moving from rooftops to rooftops and placing sensors on the way. With their enhanced physical abilities and strenghtening suits, it was an easy feat. Tony and Robin acted separately to cover more ground, staying in contact with the comm.
“... It feels like we have gotten into a time machine and went back into the past...” said Robin.
“... Yeah... The hell, is it me or is the music the same as the one from earth at the same period?”
“It's just as you said, master. Personally, I find it pleasant.” said Uranus over the comm.
Solid brick building, instead of the metal, plastic, cristals and other composite materials used in modern buildings. No large glass surfaces except for some shops and luxurious manors. Old style cars and trucks, noisy, with low horsepower and releasing a lot of smoke behind them. A small train station, train with steam engines.
“... Then I guess I won't increase the size of my audio library... Still, as expected of a town at the back of a dwarven country, barely any humans or elves. Even the beastmen are hard to come by. Proteo, anything interesting the sensors picked up?”
“No, they don't seem to use ether in this town. Just coal, steam and gas. Electricity is furnished by a thermal powerplant. Anything you would expect from a town of the middle of the 20th century. However, if it's outside of the town, then it looks like there is something interesting. Robin, I'm sending you the datas.”

“Ok. Tony, please wait for a moment.”
“... Wow...”
“What is it Robin?”
“Tony, we really aren't the only ones who have come to this world. Our equipment is quite sensitive to radiowaves, so we can pick up transmittions from quite a distance. And our decoding programms are quite good. We picked up some cripted transmissions from this country, and from the neighboring ones. These communications seem to be reports about an armed group of unknown affiliation that appeared at the frontier of this country with 2 others. They possessed advanced equipment and weaponery, and are actually secretly wanted by the 3 countries. They seem to have appeared at around the same time as us.”
“That's not all...”
“Found something else little Proteo?”
“On the local news radio, it seem like unidentified flying objects have appeared in a human country a small distance away from here. It sounds like how there were reports of UFOs back in the 20th century. It wouldn't be strange if the rumor of aliens being there started to spread around.”
“Great... Now anything unusual will be carefully checked by the authorities of the differents countries. Moving around with our vehicles will be a pain in the ass. I don't know if we can properly camoufflage the armored car enough to avoid suspicion from afar, but the mobile base is just too damn big. On top of that, we don't even know how many transmigrants there are, and how much equipment they got with them...”
“You really are set to avoid others a lot Tony. Aren't you being overly cautious? Isn't it fine to join hands with the other people from earth, at least at the beginning? It isn't good for any of us to be isolated in this world. There is no country protecting us, and they would probably be too greedy over our belongings.”
“...”
“If we ally ourselves with other earthlings, we should be able to deal with the other countries and etablish a safe place for us in this world. In an RPG, it would be like etablishing our safe, starting village.”

There has always been good players and bad players. The bad players were the ind that would always try to do shit to either players or npcs, just for the sake of creating more chaos, for the sake of plunder and slaughter. Being in the same place as those kind of people was something Tony didn't want to do.
There were a few Dark Guilds in Cataclysm Online. Tony believed that only hatefull people at heart would tae so much efforts and pleasure in ruining the lives of others. They had nothing to do with assassins groups and bandit groups. It could be said that the assassins groups were neutral, and if the bandits groups were bad, then the dark guilds were downright evil.
There were also those people that usually acted properlly, but started to change once they gained more power. Those people that got corrupted by power and became more aggressive. There were also those people that would get overexcited with their newfound freedom of action, those people that always seeked for a different world to become the heroes of their own stories.
There was also a fair number of self-righteous guilds. But the guys in those guilds could become to confident and conceited. It wouldn't be too strange for them to see themselves as the only righteous ones. Then there were the guys who only cared about having the highest levels and the best equipments, and who didn't care much about the lore.
Tony was one of the best engineers of the game, one of those with the most technical and scientific skills, all reaching at least level 10. His mobile base contained all of his creations and knowledge, all of it was of the highest quality. How many of those dangerous players stayed until the end of the games and arrived in Calandoris? He didn't know, and didn't want the result of all his efforts to be stolen by greedy and treacherous bastards.
“... People from our world aren't trustworthy. The change of environment can turn the respectable ones into suspicious ones, and those already wicked would be even more dangerous.”
'The ones who got transported here were most likely the ones most reluctant to part with the games, those who have enjoyed the journey, and those who didn't like the real world, like me, or those who had dark desires in them, things they couldn't outside of a game...'
“Some people may indeed be trustworthy, or be the kind that would turn for the better... But the others... It's a risk I don't want to take. I can accept to meet them, but I will not team up with anyone. I have the mobile base, I have you guys, that is enough for now...”
“And we love you too, Tony.”
“Of course.”
“Y-Yeah.”
“...” '… Haaaa, I said something embarrassing.'
“Hu hu hu, I can tell you're blushing, Tony.”
“Shut up! Let's find some detailled maps of the area, the country and the world. We will look for a good location for a gathering, then send a message to invite the closer ones for a meeting... Wait! There is still no communications on the frequencies used on Earth?”
“Nope, nothing boss.”
“... I don't like it. Out of all the people that should have been sent there, there should be someone looking for other earthlings, and thus regulary sending messages on those frequencies, or ask for help, or exchange informations. There has been nothing since we left the jamming of the mountain range?”
“Now that I think about it, you're right Tony, it's really weird...”
“... Let's remain silent for the time being. Robin, once you have the maps and some books, find a newly made vehicle that can carry 4 persons to steal in one of the factories. I will upgrade it later and we will use it to move around in the open. Tell me when you find one.”
“Understood.”
Thus they stayed in the town for a few hours, sneaking in houses, shops, libraries and factories. They left with their spoils without attracting attention on themselves.
