《Battling Records of the Chosen One》C222. Smashing-star Golden Fire

When Lin saw the familiar room, he felt at ease and calmed down.
"The last time I passed the second test on Green-cloud Path was just before the quarterly assessment in the Bloodthirsty Camp. Now, it's less than three months for me to take the third test on Green-cloud Path..."
Lin Xun calculated the time when he recalled the cold voice in his sleep.
Heaven-accessing Place was an unprecedented opportunity for him. When he passed the first test on Green-cloud Path, he acquired the Mediating Magic, and the wounds left on the four acupoints of cardiac vessel were repaired at the same time.
When he passed the second test on Green-cloud Path, not only his body quality reached the level of "metallographic jade", but he also got the first part of Nature Insight & Spirit-devouring Scripture and the Tianyuan Saberplay.
Nature Insight & Spirit-devouring Scripture, a manual of cultivation, enabled one to have an insight into the quintessence and details of something, grasp the various abstruse arts, and control and refine the nature’s energy into the body! It was powerful enough to support Lin Xun to the Tao Insight Realm!
Although there were only RFS (Reaching for the stars), DDM (Drawing Down the Moon), ITS (Incinerating the Sun) in Tianyuan Saberplay, each of them had tremendous power. Even with Lin Xun's wits, he could only learn RFS!
Anyway, through the first two tests, Lin Xun had been thoroughly aware of the value of the Heaven-accessing Place.
In such circumstances, Lin Xun looked forward to the third test.
...
Before long, Lin Xun checked his body and found that most of his strength had restored, and the wound on his abdomen had healed. He just needed time to rest and recover completely.
Chirp ~ ~
In the courtyard, there was a cheerful chirp of Chirps and a laugh from Shue Jin.
Lin Xun got up, pushed the door open, and walked into the courtyard, seeing Shue Jin drinking with a liquor vat, while Chirps was lying on its stomach and drinking in front of a wine bowl opposite Shue Jin. Chirps’ body was like a ball, stumbling and jumping constantly like it was drunk and sometimes it chirped happily.
Shue Jin laughed upon this scene, and constantly filled the bowl of Chirps with liquor as if he found a confidant.
Lin Xun put on a long face and picked up Chirps’ soft and round body. He said crossly, "Drinking is not a good habit. I can't afford your drinks, Chirps."
Maybe Chirps didn’t understand, and it just jumped into Lin’s arms, and intimately rubbed itself against Lin’s chest, chirping happily with a carefree look.
Lin Xun had no way to deal with Chirps; he sat opposite Shue Jin and asked, "How long did I sleep?"
Shue Jin answered casually, "Three days, not too long."
Lin Xun was anxious then, "Did something else happened in the three days?"

Shue Jin laughed and comforted him, "Don't worry. They won’t do anything more against you before the Province Test is over."
The casual words presented his absolute self-confidence.
This surprised Lin Xun. He knew instantly that Shue Jin must help him resolve the aftermath of that night's battle while he was sleeping.
"Thank you very much."
Lin Xun raised his wine bowl, proposed a toast to Shue Jin and drank it all.
Shue Jin just smiled and then pointed at the Chirps curiously, "Where did you get this little thing?"
Lin Xun casually said, "I just got it by accident. I don't know what this little creature is. I just keep a pet."
Shue Jin laughed, "A pet? You are as blind as a bat. Although I can't tell the origin of this little creature, I'm sure that it has extraordinary power."
Lin Xun felt a shock and asked urgently, “Why do you say that?"
Even Shu Sanqi and Old Mo couldn't tell the origin of Chirps when he was in the Bloodthirsty Camp, but Shue Jin seemed to find something special on Chirps.
Shue Jin wondered, "This little thing followed you all the time. Don't you know its power?"
Lin Xun frowned and thought, "All I know is that the Chirps can jet fire. The flame is extremely fierce. It can pierce the ground and burn rocks at a single blow. It's comparable to a full blow from a practitioner on the ninth level of Martial Realm. And it showed such power at the time of its birth."
Shue Jin asked with interest, "How about nowadays?"
Lin Xun shrugged helplessly, "When I joined the war zone assessment in the Bloodthirsty Camp, I accidentally got a mysterious black tooth of a beast from a Water Barbarian assassin, and it was eaten by Chirps. Then, it fell asleep until it woke up at that night three days ago."
Shue Jin said as if absorbed in thought, "That is to say, you don't know what happened to this little thing during its sleep?"
Lin Xun was in a daze and then nodded his head, "That's true."
Shue Jin turned his hand with a shiny silver object in his hand. It looked like a silver gem in the sunshine.
"What is this?"
Lin Xun was attracted to it and felt a kind of compelling spiritual energy from this object. At first glance, he knew that it was not an ordinary spiritual material.
"The night when I brought you back three days ago, this little thing spat it out of its mouth."
A unfathomable look flashed across Shue Jin’s eyes, "According to my observation, this is a piece of silver-snowy electricity spiritual iron. It’s quite precious. The most important thing is this iron is extremely pure, which is rare. Such a palm-sized piece can be sold on the market for 500 imperial silver coins!"

Lin Xun narrowed his eyes and suddenly remembered that in his fighting with Residual Snow that night, at the most critical time, it was Chirps that swallowed the deadly spiritual arrow and helped him overcome the danger.
This piece of silver-snowy electricity spiritual iron might relate to that spiritual arrow that had been swallowed by Chirps.
Lin Xun told Shue Jin his guess.
Shue Jin’s eyes brightened and he said, "It's exactly the same as what I had predicted before."
As he spoke, he took out a spiritual sword on low grade of Human-rank and handed it to Chirps.
Chirps looked at Lin Xun with dark and pure eyes as if asking for Lin Xun’s agreement, so Lin Xun nodded to Chirp.
Chirps opened its mouth and took a breath to swallow this 70-centimeters-long spiritual sword.
Lin Xun and Shue Jin stared at Chirps with the whole attention fixed on it.
It seemed that small and round Chirps was very uncomfortable to be suddenly stretched like a long dough. Suddenly, it burst into bright golden flames like the scorching sun, burning fiercely.
The blazing heat burnt the air and distorted the void. Lin Xun and Shue Jin were all shocked by this terrible fire!
This kind of flame was extremely violent, as it seemed able to melt everything. Even they were several steps apart from Chirps, Lin Xun felt a burning pain on skins.
Shue Jin seemed to have recognized what the fire was, and said with an amazed expression in his eyes, "It may be one of the unique fires in the world, Smashing-star Golden Fire!"
Smashing-star Golden Fire!
Lin Xun was struck dumb with astonishment. He also knew that there were many unique fires, such as Stone-bell Jade Fire, Gloomy Fire with a Cold Soul, Pure-flame Fire and Samadhi Fire, in the world.
These unique fires had their own functions, some of them could assist practitioners in practice, and some could be used in refining of tools or pills.
According to the division of power, the fires were divided into four levels: yellow, earth, heaven and mystery.
The yellow-rank fire was the most common type of unique fire in the world.
The mystery-rank one was the rare unique fire in the world. Each of them had a kind of supernatural power and it was hardly found. People could only meet it by luck.
Smashing-star Golden Fire belonged to heaven-rank fire!
Perhaps it was not as rare as the mystery-rank fire, but it was also a scarce thing. In the whole empire, only those upper forces with a long history could have such fire.
The judgement from Shue Jin that what Chirps released was the Smashing-star Golden Fire really shocked Lin Xun.
If so, the origin of Chirps must be extraordinary!
Under the gaze of Lin Xun and Shue Jin, the fire on Chirps became more and more fierce, its soft body gradually recovered to the original shape of small ball.
When it rounded the body again, Chirps opened its mouth and spat out a red light, which fell on the ground with a bang.
Shue Jin picked it up and observed, "My guess is right. The spiritual sword on low grade of Human-rank was melted into a piece of red-grain fire iron, and it has no impurities!"
There was a sense of surprise in his voice.
Lin Xun frowned, "It isn’t cost-efficient to melt a spiritual tool into a spiritual material.”
Shue Jin said in a gruff voice, "You do have a narrow vision! How can the value of a spiritual weapon on low grade of Human-rank be comparable to that of a top spiritual material with excellent quality and no impurities? Boy, Chirps is really a peerless treasure!”
Lin Xun raised his eyebrows, "You mean the melting power of Chirps seems very unusual?"
Shue Jin cried out, "It's not just unusual. It's peerless! All impurities of an ordinary spiritual tool can be removed and it ultimately turns into the purest spiritual material. When it comes to the material’s value, it is far higher than that of an ordinary spiritual tool!”
After a pause, he continued, "It's just a comparison on value. You know, if you use pure spiritual materials like this to refine spiritual devices again, the power of the spiritual devices will be greatly enhanced!"
His voice had a tingle of excitement, "Do you know why the number of the amour with spiritual tattoo is so small? The most important reason is that when spiritual tattoo masters try to make a amour with spiritual tattoo, they need the purest spiritual materials! "
Speaking of this, Shue Jin stopped abruptly and looked at Lin Xun with a surprised expression, "Boy, you are a young spiritual tattooist. Don't tell me that you don’t know this common knowledge?"
However, Lin Xun with knitted brows still did not understand why Shue Jin was so excited. He said, "As far as I know, this method of melting spiritual materials is mastered by any spiritual tattoo master. It is not something special."
Shue Jin said firmly, "You're right, but have you seen a beast like Chirps can do this only by swallowing? Undoubtedly, Chirps is a natural melting master as it owns the Smashing-star Golden Fire!”
Shue Jin stared intensely at Chirp lying in Lin’s arms and said, " What’s more, Smashing-star Golden Fire is just one of Chirps gifts!"
Lin Xun really heard something new at this time. He asked in curious, "Does Chirps own any other special talents?”

Summoned
“Per aspera ad astra." Death. Mercilessly, it comes for all. But when a young man is given a second chance – a second life – to experience what he never has, what will he do? Leave the burdens of his past behind, improving upon his faults? Or will he collapse back into old sins, wasting the opportunity given to him? Perhaps even he himself does not know. * Join Andre on his journey as he explores a new world – one ripped straight from the pages of a D&D campaign he's never played. He will face monsters. He will face men. And above all, he will face himself. The story’s genre is your standard progression fantasy, isekai: magic, a system, and a level of technology suspiciously underdeveloped. I’ve borrowed tropes from various books I’ve read like “The Second Coming of Gluttony”. The similarities are there (particularly in the beginning), but I assure you the story is my own. It’s in the first-person perspective and has its own quirks, characters, and world for you to become immersed in. The upload schedule for this will be different from the usual fictions on this site: I’ll release chapters in batches rather than so many a week. I’m a college student, so I don’t want another deadline to worry about. Depending on the popularity/demand of the series, I might increase or decrease the rate of releases. Other than that, I hope you enjoy the story! P.S. This is my first fiction so make sure to point out mistakes wherever you see them. I’m doing this, partly, to increase my skill as a writer. However, be kind! I’m fragile, you know? Warning: ***This is far from your happy-go-lucky, feel-good adventure story. There will be content that some of you might not be comfortable with. And if you're already feeling skeptical reading this, click away and don't come back. If you're still here, what are you waiting for?***

The Drifting World
In the year 2104, a brand new VRMMO called The Drifting World is released promising realism, adventure, and freedom like no other. Follow Noah as he builds his character Chemistree, a Treant rogue, and uncovers the mysteries of a destroyed virtual world. Expect guilds, dungeons, skills, stats, and, levels as he progresses through the main story of the game and tries to uncover what secrets the game has to hide. Okay, stereotypical introduction over. This is my first time trying to release a story I've written, so feedback is welcome. The premise is nothing special, I just want to do it well. A lot of similar stories I've read make me ask "what kind of game would work like that?" Sometimes believable gameplay elements give way for a more immersive story, but I hope to make that as balanced as possible rather than going for cheap thrills. Well, I guess we will just see how this goes.
