《Battling Records of the Chosen One》130. Putting Up a Desperate Fight

After seeing Lin Xun and Ning Meng, the four trainees from Camp 40 were in a trance for a second and then stared at them without any fear.
Four people had certain advantages over two.
But they soon stopped with grave faces since they noticed that someone was coming from the other direction quickly.
Was it an enemy or a friend?
Lin Xun, Ning Meng and the four trainees of Camp 40 were all waiting.
Soon, a figure suddenly appeared as elegant as a cloud, as fast as the wind. It was Shi Yu!
But before Lin Xun felt happy, two people behind Shi Yu appeared too; obviously, they were chasing Shi Yu with all their strength and forced Shi to run away. It was conceivable that the two men were unusual.
Lin Xun and Ning Meng felt a weight at their hearts at once.
On the contrary, when the four men of Camp 40 saw the two men, Gong Ming and Di Jun, who were hunting Shi Yu, they were all delighted.
Gong Ming was an overmatch who was highly expected by the Drillmaster Residual Wolf. He came from the Gong’s Family with the title of “Tumbler’s”. Di Jun, who had proven himself to be a top strong man by his power also had powerful backing.
Now, counting the two guys in, there were six trainees of Camp 40, which were powerful enough to suppress three opponents.
The situation was clearly dangerous at this moment. Lin Xun immediately decided, “Ning Meng, could you stop these four people alone?”
Ning Meng was in a daze and then gritted his teeth, “Why couldn’t I?”
“I'll help Shi Yu and seize an opportunity to get rid of one opponent first, and then the situation will change.”
Lin Xun said quickly in a calm tone, “This battle is doomed to be extremely hard. We can all try to fight with our lives. Maybe the toughest ones can stick it out!”
“Right! Now the number of nameplates I have got is quite enough. Even if I fail in this fight and leave the battlefield now, I will not be eliminated from the Bloodthirsty Camp. In this case, why not play a big game!”
With ferocious light flashing in his eyes, Ning Meng ruthlessly stepped on the ground then rushed up. His stalwart figure was like a tower and there was dazzling lightning all over his tense muscles.
Boom!
Ning Meng’s halberd crazily danced in the air like a snake. There was a kind of aggressive momentum swallowing mountains and rivers.
Almost at the same time, Lin Xun's body left a faint shadow in the air, and Lin holding his Greenwave Saber dashed towards Shi Yu.
“Which one is the hard nut?” Lin Xun asked quickly.
“The ugliest one!” Shi Yu pointed at Gong Ming in the distance, and then with a pair of bronze maces rushed towards Di Jun.

Shi Yu was super smart. He had already seen Lin Xun and Ning Meng as well as the four rivals from Camp 40 in the distance.
This situation was not complicated but fully dangerous.
When he saw Lin Xun's arrangement, he immediately got Lin Xun's intention and left Gong Ming to Lin Xun without hesitation.
Gong Ming was indeed very powerful and extremely hard to be defeated, but Gong Ming was good at defense, which meant in frontal fighting, he might be able to suppress and defeat Lin Xun, but it would take some time!
Under such circumstances, as long as Shi Yu defeated Di Jun before Lin Xun was defeated by Gong Ming, the situation would change!
Kill!
Ning Meng rushed to four rivals.
Kill!
Lin Xun rushed to Gong Ming.
Kill!
Shi Yu rushed to Di Jun.
Although the three men united for the first time, they had a tacit mutual understanding. In order to turn the scale, they would go to all lengths even if they had to risk their lives.
If someone else instead of Ning Meng heard Lin Xun's suggestion, he would think that Lin Xun was leading him into the trap and would not agree to it easily.
Similarly, if Shi Yu asked someone else instead of Lin Xun to deal with Gong Ming, the one would be filled with suspicions and hesitate to comply with Shi’s arrangement.
In that case, there was no need to fight at all, as they were bound to be suppressed one by one.
The so-called concerted efforts or joint combat tested not only tacit understanding, but also trust and decisive courage!
In this respect, Lin Xun, Ning Meng and Shi Yu seemed to have never opened hearts to each other before, or perhaps they never realized these things at all, but their present performances were full of tacit understanding, trust and courage!
All this came from the same idea that they were the trainees of Camp 39. Their pride and dignity didn’t permit any unfavorable factors to the situation at this moment!
Rumbling…
The fighting breaking out in this jungle was extremely fierce. Trees fell down. Rock turned fine powders and ground cracked.
The scene was hair-raising: brilliant and colorful spiritual power interweaved and collided with each other.
At this moment, Residual Wolf and Young Ke locked their eyes on this place. They all knew that the result of this monthly assessment might be determined by this battle!
…
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Lin Xun was fighting against Gong Ming with his Greenwave Saber. With his body covered with compact Qi, Lin Xun was highly concentrated. His saber was like changeable water current, its power sometimes tempestuous, sometimes lingering, sometimes storming and sometimes torpid.
Even so, Lin still felt terrible pressure.
Gong Ming’s appearance was ordinary. He held a long rod made of pattern steel. His movements and rod techniques seemed to be ordinary, too.

But each strike boasted the force of thunderbolt, producing a terrible shock, which made Lin Xun’s hands numb and blood violently-rolling.
Gong’s defense was so impregnable that Lin Xun could hardly find any flaws. A gentle sweep of the rod could easily defuse Lin Xun's offensive.
It was just like facing an unshakable mountain; no matter how violent the attacks were, he stood steady and unmoved.
This was Gong Ming’s “Nine Ghostdoms Body-defence Cudgel (NGBC)”, the ancestral secret method which could be regarded as the first-class defensive art in the world. It was mysterious and powerful.
It was really a headache to fight against such people. They couldn’t be hurt at all. Competition with them was a war of physical attrition.
What scared Lin Xun most was that Gong Ming was not only terrible in defense, but also amazing in attack. Perhaps in the eyes of Shi Yu, the most dreaded ability of Gong Ming’s was defense.
For Lin Xun, the attacking power of overmatches like Gong Ming could not be underestimated, either. His defensive force was too eye-catching so that it was easy to make people ignore his attack.
Boom!
Upon a blow of Gong’s rod, Lin shook and almost staggered back.
It couldn’t be like this anymore!
Suddenly, a hint of ruthless decisiveness flashed across his black eyes, and Lin Xun rushed at Gong Ming, ignoring the strike that was heading on his head. The Greenwave Saber in his palm went straight to the throat of Gong Ming!
If Gong Ming did not avoid it, his rod might smash Lin Xun's head, but likewise, Lin Xun's saber was doomed to pierce his throat.
It would cause destruction to both sides.
What they fought over was who was crueler, not only to the enemy, but also to himself.
Gong Ming wrinkled his brows; his rod suddenly fell down and suppressed Lin Xun's blade. It was no doubt that Gong was unwilling to risk his life.
Lin Xun took this opportunity to continue attacking.
As long as Gong Ming had to defend, it was favorable for Lin Xun. At least, as the attack force was much smaller, Lin Xun would not be suppressed by Gong Ming in the short time.
Lin Xun had the same difficulty in trying to defeat his opponent.
But this was the best situation Lin Xun could strive for. As long as Shi Yu defeated Di Jun, the whole situation would change accordingly.
However, just for a moment, the fighting style of Gong Ming changed dramatically. He brandished the long rod down in spite of the arrival of Lin Xun’s saber.
Puff!
Gong Ming's waist was wounded, with blood pouring out of the cut, but it only a skin trauma which was not serious.
Bang!
Almost at the same time, Lin Xun suffered a blow on his shoulder. His body sank and his shoulder blade almost broke. A sharp pain spread all over his body.
Lin Xun’s physical strength had reached the level of “Metallographic Jade Quality”, which was comparable to that of an overmatch on the eighth level of Martial Realm. His body was as strong as refined iron.
But under this blow, his shoulder was almost broken. It could be imagined how terrible the power of Gong Ming's rod was.
Lin Xun gritted his teeth, steadied his shaky body, arched his back suddenly and launched another attack with his saber.
He recognized that Gong Ming had seen through his trick apparently and started to fight recklessly, which was undoubtedly a very bad change.
Lin Xun didn’t take too much into account. In this battle, he must pin down Gong Ming even at an unimaginable cost.
Lin Xun's toughness apparently surprised Gong Ming as well. Generally speaking, ordinary practitioners on the seventh level of Martial Realm would be paralyzed upon one blow from Gong’s rod, but Lin Xun seemed untouched.
This showed that Lin Xun must have a super strong physical strength.
In the following time, Gong Ming and Lin Xun fought in a way of both being defeated and injured. It was extremely horrifying.
In just a moment, Lin Xun's skin was bruised and swollen. Every inch of bones and muscles suffered a severe pain and seemed to be about to burst and crumble.
Similarly, there were several bloody saber wounds on Gong Ming’s body, but no one was on the vital part. The look of Gong Ming had not changed from beginning to end.
At this moment, they were both silent and ruthless, as if they were a pair of calm and terrible madmen.
And that kind of bloody and cruel scene was so scary.
Suddenly, a roar came from Ning Meng in the distance, “I am going to fail. Toy boy, when the hell are you gonna defeat Di Jun? Are you too damn weak, aren’t you?”
This made Lin Xun worried. Ning Meng couldn't hold on anymore?
Even without turning to look back, Lin could imagine that Ning Meng besieged by four people must get more seriously injured than he was.
What about Shi Yu?
How was the fight going on over there?
Almost at the same time, with a boom, Di Jun was fiercely knocked into the air and his face suddenly turned pale; he coughed up blood, and then with head aslant, he fainted.
Meanwhile, a shocking bloody hole appeared on Shi Yu’s left chest, blood gurgling out, but Shi Yu seemed unaware of this and laughed, “How can a fool like you understand my powerful strength?”
In his laughter, he rushed to support Ning Meng with bronze maces in his hands.

Author's Thoughts: What is litRPG (From wikipedia) - LitRPG, short for Literary Role Playing Game, is a literary genre combining the conventions of MMORPGs with science-fiction fantasy novels.[1] LitRPG is a literary genre where games or game-like challenges form an essential part of the story. A LitRPG work simultaneously narrates the story of characters inside and outside of the game-world. At least some of the characters in a LitRPG novel therefore understand that they are playing a game: they are 'meta-aware'. So, while Tolkien's Lord of the Rings is a fantasy novel, a book about people creating avatars and interacting in a Lord of the Rings MMORPG would be a LitRPG novel. Why do I read them? You know, I am not too sure. I love MMOs. I played them, quit them, joined up and repeated the cycle. They are fun! They are a massive waste of time but so are most games. Do I want to read about someone else playing them? Sort of?The advent of VR and the possibility of VR someday becoming so immersive that you can't tell them from reality sets the imagination on fire. What if this could be life? But most stories fall short. At the end of the day the protagonist hangs up his VR helmet and goes to have dinner with his mom and dad or other family and it becomes meaningless. It's like the story that ends because the main character woke up and nothing you read matters. There have been some books that explore the concept of the intersection of reality and total immersion VR. Enders Game is a classic. There were a few others that escape me but they exist, however, the cross between the game and reality is weak.So what if the game was real? The technology needed for total immersion VR is so advanced that by the time we reach that goal technology should have naturally evolved to include several items. You must have direct neural input. You simply can't have a total immersion (all senses and perfect presence) experience without this basic prerequisite. If you have direct neural access, you can probably do neat things like feed knowledge and skills directly to that person. You can undoubtedly do many horrible things as well. Muscles are controlled by the brain. If you control the brain why would you let the body just sit there and rot? A person that sits unmoving for 24 hours a day will have their body whither away just like a coma patient. However, if you control the brain you could control the muscles. On a basic level, this would be isometric impulses, working muscle group against muscle group to avoid atrophy. Taken to its logical conclusion you would be able to gain muscle mass and program muscle memory. The flip side is that you could remote control their body... but let's not go there. So what would people do if it were real? Well, they would probably limit and regulate it since the drawbacks are very obvious. Even if you look at the basic aspects of this you can see some negative possibilities. Look at the Sword Art Online anime. Personally, I think they missed the boat by putting a bomb in the VR helmet. Do you really need a bomb when you have direct access to the brain? So what kind of events would you need to have a situation where the obvious drawbacks haven't been explored? Maybe a society where the advancement of technology has so far outstripped the explorations of its applications that ignorance was truly bliss? Okay, so I had to put in an alien invasion to kickstart the premise, but that was just one of the possibilities.
