《Battling Records of the Chosen One》129. Making Vigorous Efforts to Turn the Tide

For an instant, Lin Xun realized that Ning Meng was unexpectedly being chased by someone who intended to kill him.
A few hundred meters away, a girl and three boys were chasing after Ning in a threatening manner. It was quite obvious that they intended to lay siege to Ning Meng by numbers.
“Does this guy have nothing to fear, doesn’t he? Why is he escaping like a frightened boar…”
A dash of weird smile rose from the labial corners of Lin Xun. Ning Meng had always been swaggering before him, with the expression of being unbeatable in the world. While Ning had to flee in panic now, which made Lin Xun couldn’t help laughing.
But soon Lin Xun was unable to laugh any more. Ning Meng rushed in this direction; with a thunderous sound, he directly broke the big tree where Lin Xun was hiding.
Idiot!
Lin Xun was so angry and was on the verge of heaping curses on Ning. He could have hidden in the dark, aiming to attack the girl and the three boys sneakily, but his plan was immediately disturbed by Ning.
While thinking, Lin Xun wielded his spiritual energy, and with his body firmly sticking to the canopy of the big tree like a gecko, he didn’t expose himself immediately.
And during the falling process of the big tree, Lin Xun, who attached to the branches, was even more hard to be noticed by the enemies, unless the tree fell down completely.
But it was obvious that Lin Xun didn’t have to wait for the moment any more.
Ning Meng had just broken the big tree when the girl and the three boys dashed over.
And just at this moment-
Lin Xun rushed out of the fallen canopy like a flash of black lightning, with his sharp and glittering Greenwave Saber stabbing out!
They were Lei Shinyue and her fellows. Having focused their attention on chasing Ning Meng, they didn’t expect there was someone hiding in the tree.
The sudden attack made their complexions sharply change, and they dodged to one side subconsciously.
But one boy moved a little slow, and he was hacked by the saber in the shoulder. The blade cut down cruelly along the boy’s chest, leaving a long bloody wound, and his belly was almost slit open!
With a blood-curdling scream, the boy stumbled and fell into bushes. He didn’t dare to move, since the wound was so serious that once he moved, it would be open, and he would be definitely in danger by then.
“Court death!”
After the short terrifying attack, Lei Shinyue and the three boys were just beginning to take it and then fiercely rushed towards Lin Xun at rapid speed, which showed their extremely rich fighting experience.
Lin Xun, who was trapped on the spot immediately, paled in comparison, and was in imminent danger.
Especially Lei Shinyue was a great threat to Lin Xun, her sword was enveloped in terrifying electric arcs, and each blow was violent and fierce.
Besides Lei, the other two boys were quite powerful. With one of them holding a spear, and the other holding a long whip, they cooperated tacitly and harmoniously with Lei.

“Ha-ha, my brother comes to help me. You are just bastards to bully me by numbers! No one can leave today!”
Laughing loudly, Ning dashed at them like an iron tower and dealt a vigorous counter-blow.
With a giant halberd in his hand, and lightning rays shining and flowing all over, Ning looked like Thor, whose momentum was tremendous to the extreme at this point.
Boom!
The boy with a long whip uttered a heart-rending cry, and his body like a sandbag was cruelly knocked away by the giant halberd.
Having been forced to escape all along obviously made Ning Meng felt aggrieved. The appearance of Lin Xun at the moment made the situation change suddenly, and also enabled Ning Meng to grasp the chance to fight back, so how could he show mercy?
“Kill!”
Ning roared, and brandished his giant halberd; his momentum was just like rumbling thunder which could shake the heavens, forcing Lei Shinyue and the boy holding a sword to dodge about, and their complexions changed suddenly.
Just for an instant, Lin Xun’s pressure had been dissolved, which made Lin have to admit Ning’s fighting capacity was indeed strong and ferocious.
At least he couldn’t manage it at present.
“Lin Xun, you deal with the boy, and I’ll handle the girl! The anger in my heart can’t be vented if I don’t beat her up and make her obedient!”
Ning Meng dashed towards Lei Shinyue with a shout of anger.
“It is for the best.”
Lin Xun smiled. With his eyes fixed on the sword boy and the Greenwave Saber in his hand, Lin Xun, whose body was filled with terrifying intention to kill and fight, rushed out.
Since the fighting capacity of Lei Shinyue was quite strong, Lin Xun didn’t think he could subdue the girl in a short time, so it would be best to let Ning deal with her.
As for the other two fellows of Lei, one’s belly was almost slit open, and the other was knocked unconscious by Ning’s halberd; both of them had lost the capacity to fight, so there was no need to worry.
Although it was two versus two at the moment, for Ning Meng, the situation had been completely different.
“Humph! Don’t you dare to attack due to your companion’s help? Who has escaped like a crazy wild pig just now?”
Gritting her teeth, Lei Shinyue fought against Ning Meng, and still didn’t forget to satirize him.
“Fuck you! You’d better not fuck with (annoy) me. If we were not in Bloodthirsty Camp, I would definitely kill you with my halberd!”
Ning Meng roared, and felt quite ashamed for having escaped just now. And now he was derided by Lei Shinyue, which made him furious to the utmost. He completely didn’t realize that his words could create ambiguity.
Girls were always more precocious than boys. “Bah!” hearing his words, Lei Shinyue was so angry that there seemed to be fire gushing out of her almond eyes. “I will kill you, shameless bastard!”
What both of them had practiced were secret combat skills with the attribute of thunder. When they fought, it looked as if two Thors were competing for mastery. With lightning flashing and thunder rumbling, the momentum was extremely terrifying.

While on the other side, Lin Xun and the sword boy were fighting against each other violently.
Compared with the short and fat boy Ye Qi whom Lin Xun had met before, the sword boy didn’t bring much pressure on Lin.
Think about it! Though Camp 39 had the highest elimination rate, those left were all best of the best. There were more trainees in the Camp 40, but they were uneven in terms of personal combat effectiveness.
Just like the sword boy, though he had reached the ninth level of the Martial Realm, he was much inferior in both means and sense of fighting.
Soon, Lin Xun seized a chance, and utilized the “Stabbing”, one move of the Six-word Saberplay. The Greenwave Saber smoothly drew a straight line, and stabbed in the abdomen of the boy, leaving a bloody hole there. The boy was so painful that he uttered a heartrending cry, and stepped back immediately and violently to dodge.
Hearing the miserable scream, Lei Shinyue who was fighting with Ning Meng felt a sudden shock in the heart. The complexion on her pretty face changed; she gnashed her teeth and managed to escape towards the distance.
“Do you want to escape? Stay behind!”
With a shout, Ning Meng was about to chase after her, but he was stopped by Lin Xun who seriously spoke to him, “That’s enough! Who the fucking can save you like me if by any chance you encounter an ambush when chasing her?”
With his complexion changing constantly for a while, Ning Meng eventually snorted in anger and gave up chasing.
In the Camp 39, Ning had always been regarding Lin Xun as his friend, and also because of Lin, those who had intended to make friends with him changed their minds and kept their distance from him.
If he encountered an ambush again, no one would save him like Lin Xun indeed.
“Fuck! I will listen to you this time!”
While speaking, Ning Meng cast a glance at the opponent of Lin Xun coldly. The complexion of the sword boy changed suddenly, and he felt despairing.
…
“OK!”
In the temporary base of Camp 39, the Fatty Middle-aged couldn’t help but clap his hands and gasp in admiration, “Lin Xun’s ability of acting according to circumstances is just awesome. Although Ning Meng damaged his hiding place, he could take advantage of this change, and launched the most effective strike, which was so amazing!”
A hint of rare appreciation appeared on the calm and pretty face of Young Ke. Lin Xun’s performance just now was indeed quite good. He defeated one trainee of Camp 40 at one fell swoop, which reversed the course.
Just in this situation, Ning Meng had enough time to fight back.
“Can the situation be completely changed this time?”
Young Ke turned her eyes to the optical screen where Shi Yu was.
……
In the base of Camp 40, Residual Wolf couldn’t resist the discomfort in his heart any more. He gave a snort of contempt, with a touch of gloom appearing on his harsh and effeminate face.
Lei Shinyue and the fellows failed!
The originally triumphant situation was broken by the sudden appearance of an unexpected boy, which made Ning Meng with extraordinary combat effectiveness get a chance to fight back.
Who was that boy?
Having stared at Lin Xun for a long time, Residual Wolf sighed in the heart eventually, since he didn’t get any impression of that boy, which meant it was his negligence, and he couldn’t blame anybody for it.
Without thinking more, Residual Wolf looked away, and fixed his eyes on another zone in the optical screen, where Gong Ming and Di Jun was chasing after Shi Yu.
If Gong Ming and Di Jun were defeated again, then the situation would be completely reversed, and the Camp 40 would be reduced to absolute inferiority.
…
Without doubt, the sword boy suffered a crushing defeat in an instant, and gave up on his own initiative under the suppression of Lin Xun and Ning Meng.
Finally, Lin Xun and Ning Meng extorted five nameplates from the three trainees of Camp 40, who had been defeated completely.
Ning Meng put away two of the nameplates, and offered Lin Xun the rest.
After a brief discussion, Ning and Lin decided to go ahead together. Now there was only about an hour left before the test ended. The competition would get crueler.
Although Ning Meng was militant in nature and was lionhearted, but he was not stupid. He knew the safest choice at the moment was to take action together with Lin Xun.
“How much longer can you fight?” Ning Meng asked while puffing slightly.
“I have no idea. It depends on how powerful our opponents are,” Lin Xun responded swiftly. Nearly half of his spiritual energy had been consumed.
“I am running out of strength. Damn it! All her fault, Lei Shinyue. She forced me to escape with all my strength, which made me consume much strength unexpectedly.”
Ni Meng gave vent to a torrent of abuse. As for the escape of Lei Shinyue, he felt a little bit depressed.
“Do you need to have a rest?” Lin Xun frowned and asked.
“No,” Ning Meng shook his head.
While talking, they were moving forward quickly in the woods. But just for an instant, Lin Xun suddenly squinted his eyes and stopped.
“What’s wrong?”
Ning Meng felt anxious. He understood before Lin Xun could explain.
Not far ahead, four figures were rushing towards them, and they were obviously trainees of Camp 40.
“We deal with two of them respectively, or three ones for me, and one for you. Is it OK?” Ning Meng said quickly.
Lin Xun sighed, “The situation is far more complicated than you thought.”
While they were talking, a burst of air-breaking noise came from the depths of the woods. It was clear that someone was dashing in this direction, too.
Suddenly, Ning Meng’s face grew grave.
Four opponents were not terrifying; but if there were more opponents, it would be troublesome!

The Ordinary Life of Tom Nobody
[participant in the 2018 NaNoWriMo Royal Road challenge] The Ordinary Life of Tom Nobody is a LitRPG system story where each person transitions into the system, or SCHEMA as this system is known, innocent and unaware of his former life. Following the tutorial, memories return, but by this point, each person has a better chance of accepting their new world. It also gives them an opportunity to start from scratch, fresh without all the baggage of their former lives dictating their decisions in the early stages of the process. I don’t expect this will necessarily turn into an action-packed heroic tale, my intent is to create a character who wants to have just an ordinary, but reasonably comfortable life. I don’t know myself how well he will succeed, there may be twists and Tom may discover some heroism hidden deep inside. I guess we’ll find out together. This is my first writing attempt. I’ve wanted to write all my life, but I’ve never been able to develop the proper discipline to put in the work. I hope I complete the challenge and work my way past this hump. I am writing this as part of the NaNoWriMo Royal Road Challenge. While I will try to self-edit as I go, the challenge requires close to 2,000 words a day, so parts of the story may be rough, and things like plot lines may not make as much sense as any of us would like. If all goes well, and I complete the challenge, I plan on going back through everything and trying to polish it up. In the meanwhile, thank you for reading and I hope I don’t disappoint.
