《Battling Records of the Chosen One》125. Hidden Hunters

At Scorpion Ridge.
The monthly assessment had begun for more than an hour.
A quiet marshland was enveloped in a gray haze which would affect the vision greatly and put people in unpredictable danger.
Whoosh!
A figure came from a distance like a ghost suddenly, moving as flexibly and soundlessly as a cat.
This was a teenager with a long narrow cheek and a sharp and vigorous aura. He held a spear in his hands and slightly bowed his body. Every step was soundless and his eyes were vigilant.
This teenager was Fang Song, one of the elites in Camp 39.
Having ensured that there was no danger around, Fang Song didn’t relieve himself. He carefully came to the swamp, with his eyes flashing his eyes, seeming to be exploring something.
“The environment here is quite good. If I can hide under the marsh, I can kill passersby unexpectedly.”
Fang Song thought for a while, holding his spear tightly in his hands, and then he paced toward the marsh.
At this moment, he became more alert and his strength was running around the whole body to make sure that he would make the strongest counter-attack when the sudden danger appeared.
Soon, Fang Song's legs sank into the foul mud which seemed like a whirlpool that could drag people into it.
He had taken seven steps and there was no danger. Fang Song gave a sigh of relief. He planned to squat down and hide in the mud. Then he could launch a sudden attack when someone passed by with the help of the natural haze.
Just as Fang loosened his body and bowed slightly to hide, a dagger rushed out of the marsh beside him to pierce him from behind abruptly.
Ambush!
Fang Song, however, seemed to have anticipated that. He grinned hideously. Almost at the same time that the dagger rushed out, the spear in his hands smashed down fiercely like it had eyes.
Bang!
The spear was covered with black light and beat back the dagger. While the remaining power inserted the spear into the mud, a scream arose at once and a figure came out staggeringly.
This was a girl covered with black mud, and it was unable to see her face clearly. She was carrying a gray dagger, with a bloody gash in her right leg.
As soon as the girl appeared, she did not hesitate to turn and flee at top speed.
“Wanna leave without nameplate left?!” Fang Song shouted and rushed at her with his spear trying to stab the back of her waist.
His speed was fast and his attack was accurate, fierce and terrible to the extreme, reflecting his strong fighting consciousness.
If the girl kept running away, she would be seriously injured by this blow. If the girl twisted to fight back, she would have to slow down. Although she could resist the attack, she would be trapped on the spot.
But to Fang Song's surprise, the girl suddenly turned her head and showed a mysterious smile, revealing her straight snowy teeth.

Uh?
Fang Song felt a strong sense of danger in his heart. He almost did not hesitate to withdraw his spear and made a sudden dodge aside.
Obviously, it was late. While Fang Song was dodging, a pike[A1] soundlessly came out of the mud on the other side. It was heavily inserted into Fang Song's abdomen at an incredible speed.
Puff!
The pike entered Fang’s body and burst out with blood. In great pain, Fang Song muttered a painful groan, then gritted his teeth and waved his spear to fight back.
Behind him, the girl, who had tried to escape, took this opportunity to brandish down her dagger and left a deep wound on Fang Song's back, with the bone visible; this blow almost broke his viscera!
Under the converging attacks of the pike and dagger, Fang Song immediately realized that he had suffered a series of ambushes. He dared not hesitate and immediately cried, “I admit defeat!”
He dropped his spear, took out his nameplate and threw it out without hesitation. Then he gasped and his face was distorted in severe pain.
Puff!
The pike was pulled out from Fang Song's abdomen, and brought out a bunch of blood. Fang Song couldn't help but give out a muffled sound again, trembling all over, and almost fell into the mud.
In the marsh, a tall man stood up with a pike in his hands and looked at Fang Song indifferently.
“Excuse me, friend,” with a slight laugh, the girl bent over to pick up the nameplate that had been thrown into the mud.
“Ambushing together is a disgrace!” Fang Song gritted his teeth and scolded.
Just when scolding, Fang Song rushed at the girl and curbed the girl's neck with his arm in an instant. At the same time, a blade appeared in his hand and he aimed at the girl's throat with the blade.
This was an extremely sudden change. No one had thought that Fang Song dared to take a risk under such a serious injury, and he succeeded!
The pike man's eyes became cold at once, but he dared not act rashly and blindly.
The girl's face was so gloomy. She was stiff and dared not move. Her voice was full of mockery, “Are all members in Camp 39 as shameless as you?”
“Cut the crap and give back my nameplate, or I'll cut your throat now. I'm sure you won't die. There's enough time for your drillmaster to rescue you.”
Fang Song grinned bitterly. His face was pale because of his abdominal wound but he was very proud at the moment.
The young man's face changed and he raised the nameplate slowly, “I’m resigned!”
“Smart!” Fang Song looked ferocious. He grabbed the nameplate with his left hand when he spoke.
Thwack!
But at this moment, the pike man moved abruptly and stabbed towards Fang Song with his pike.
The shadows of the pike were a blur and it tore the air with terrible spiritual power. The pike man didn't even care about the girl's life.

Puff!
Fang Song also became brutal at this moment. He cut the girl's throat with the blade, and then pushed her away. At the same time, he turned his head and fled towards the depths of the marsh, where there was miasma and dense fog.
“Hold on! The drillmasters will certainly come in time,” The pike man gave the girl a few words of comfort and went to hunt Fang Song without hesitation.
Fang Song had a hole in his abdomen and a dagger-wound in his back. It was doomed that he could not escape the hunt. The pike man was confident that he would defeat the fierce and ruthless opponent from Camp 39.
“Damn it!”
The girl lay in the mud with her throat almost cut open. Her blood flowed out terrifyingly. She carefully tore a piece of cloth from her clothes and tied it over the wound in her throat.
She knew that if no one saved her in a quarter of an hour, she would never be able to live. The only thing she could do was to wait.
The girl was unwilling to give up here.
Clang!
Suddenly, from the mud beside her, came out a slender figure with a matt black saber.
The girl was struck dumb with amazement that another people lay in ambush here!
She was knocked unconscious when she was about to call for help. The figure fumbled around on her and took out a nameplate.
“Not bad. I got one nameplate without striking a blow.”
The figure showed a warm smile on his face covered with mud, put the nameplate away and rushed in the direction which Fang Song and the pike man went in.
It was Lin Xun.
From the beginning of the monthly assessment, Lin was left at a position near the marsh. Then he hid in it without hesitation.
The pike man and girl came later. They chose the same marsh, but they did not notice Lin Xun.
The reason why Lin Xun didn’t take action was that there were two people. Even if he could seriously injure one of them, he would be entangled in the fight with another person. The situation would certainly be unfavorable to him.
So, he quietly waited for an hour until Fang Song's arrival. The situation completely changed after a fierce and dangerous fight and finally Lin got one nameplate without striking a blow.
Maybe that was “the mantis stalks the cicada, unaware of the oriole behind”.
Shortly after Lin Xun left, a treasure ship came down from the sky, two attendants stepped out and quickly took away the girl who had fainted.
…
There was a lot of unpredictable danger in dense fog.
Lin Xun's speed was extremely fast. His soul perception power was exceedingly strong so that he could feel tiny movements in the range of over 300 feet.
This ability from the soul could only be achieved by those who were strong in the Gang Spiritual Realm. Lin Xun had learned that the most powerful practitioners in the Martial Realm, like Ning Meng, could only perceive the range of 200 feet at most.
Therefore, Lin Xun was confident that there should be few trainees with better perception in this monthly assessment.
Naturally, this was Lin Xun's unique advantage, especially in this dangerous Scorpion Ridge with complex environment. Strong perception allowed Lin Xun to avoid much danger ahead of time.
Before long, Lin Xun heard sounds of fighting and then he saw the pike man fighting with Fang Song.
Fang Song was obviously about to fail. He was injured heavily before. Now he was caught up by the pike man. It could be imagined how dangerous the situation was.
Bang!
The pike man knocked Fang Song into the air with a severe blow and was going to launch another blow to completely suppress him. But at that moment, the pike man seemed to feel a kind of danger, suddenly squinted and swept his pike back without hesitation.
Whoosh!
Before he had saw the enemy, a beam of light from a saber had been sweeping head-on. The saber seemed fierce and violent, but it suddenly became flexible, attached to the pike and then shook it away.
With a loud bang, the pike man’s attack was dispersed. The pike man was followed by the blade against his neck while he was staggering still.
The pike man was stiff and his pupils contracted. Only then could he see clearly that his opponent was a young man who was holding a saber and covered with mud, and only a pair of deep dark eyes could be seen.
This man was Lin Xun of course. After overpowering pike man with one blow, he beat the pike man to coma with his hand at the first time.
Gaining another nameplate, Lin Xun could not help sighing that it felt awesome to get nameplates so easily.
“Lin Xun, it's you!”
Fang Song got up as his breath came in short gasps in the distance. His body was covered with mud and blood and the wound in his abdomen was bleeding.
Although Lin Xun saved him at the moment, he was not happy at all. He even looked at Lin Xun with anger and unwillingness.
“Why didn't you show up until now? Have you made up your mind to get the nameplate when I fail?” Fang Song gritted his teeth and asked hoarsely.
Lin Xun wouldn’t admit this and shook his head resolutely, “Fang Song, you think too much! You should be grateful to me. If I hadn't arrived in time, would you have been defeated?”
While speaking, Lin Xun was sneering in his heart. Fang Song belonged to the group of Qi Can, Shin Wenbin and Wen Mingxiu. At least, Lin Xun didn’t stand aside when he saw that Fang Song was in peril.

Dungeon's Path
The only places I have posted the story and allow it to exist are on RoyalRoad, Scribblehub, and my Patreon. So the world ended. Whoopsie? We didn’t even see it coming. Quite literally as it came at us faster than the speed of light. Don’t worry though, it got better. Also, I am not joking about the world ending. Most people say that and mean humans are inconvenienced for some reason. Nope, all matter disintegrated at the atomic scale there for a few moments. Apparently the local universe wasn’t actually stable? Don’t ask me to go into too much detail. It would require both of us to have a few more college degrees than sense, and I at least lack them (both the degrees and the sense). Anyway, the energy/matter/wibbly wobbly strings were at a local minimum and not the universal minimum. Basically, what we took for sea level was actually a nice little mountain lake and when the dam busted so did, well, everything. Now here is where things go a bit off track with what normal meant before. You see magic is real, qi is real, gods are real. Not on old Earth mind you but souls pay little attention to time and space so we dreamed of it. In fact, the closer the shift in reality got to Earth, the closer our dreams got to the new reality. This is basically me tip toeing around the fact that it was a ‘System Apocalypse’. Reality became a video game, I became a dungeon, and this is my story. Doyle Huxley just wanted a normal life but as the above might clue you in on that just isn’t in the cards. He gets to experience a “Path Based System Apocalypse” and some early paths he takes, both literally and figuratively, lead to him becoming a dungeon. The aim is to release chapters once a week on Friday. Cursing will be avoided and no naughty adult action will take place in the story.

The Tales of YAP: The Superhero Series
“Listen well, and listen kindly, for my story is a story of contradictions; of the dead becoming alive and the weak becoming strong. Likewise, those nominated as the strong are reduced into the weakest of foes. And lovers, those sweet companions, are nothing but crazed psychopaths. This is the type of story I will tell. The story only I can speak of for it is solely mine. And now, as I recount it to you, thence forth it shall belong to all that hear of it. Listen well, then, for I shall begin.”Sooo, that’s it. The world isn’t what it is. The dead are alive. The weak become strong. And bla bla bla. The normal days of a superhero-in-training, I suppose.
