《Battling Records of the Chosen One》43. Change of Physique

The next morning, after Lin Xun had his breakfast, he prepared well and was ready for the training. Seeing Shia Zhi standing three meters away, his heart was full of ambition.
He hardly slept last night. Having practiced his Qi and spiritual soul, he had been replaying the fighting skills of Shia Zhi in his mind silently.
It was a fight of physical strength, whose purpose was to refine bodies. However, after being defeated repeatedly yesterday, he realized that a strong body could also be a good weapon to kill the enemy if he grasped the techniques of releasing power.
Took Shia Zhi for example. Her fighting power was mighty enough to terrify people even without spiritual power.
“Let’s begin!”
Shia Zhi was calm. The soft morning light brought a dazzling air of purity and holiness to her beautiful face.
Hu…
Without hesitation, Lin Xun went forward swiftly like a galloping horse, exuding a heavy and strong vigor.
Taking a closer look, his muscles were pulsing like waving ripples. With all the strength concentrated, he was like a bow pulled tight, ready to shoot at any second.
It was the TRRE (tiger roar to repulse the enemy)!
As soon as this move was performed, the effect of it was entirely different from that of yesterday, which was simple, quick and straight. At the same time, the strength of arms flowed to his spine along his shoulders, mobilizing the power of rib muscles, while all muscles twitched like a taut wire.
Bang!
Even the air voiced a heavy popping sound out of the blow.
Shia Zhi was unperturbed. Flirting her palm, she kept Lin Xun’s wrist under her control. However, before she could exert power, she felt the muscles of his wrist shaking at an ultimate speed, which immediately turned slippery just like a mud fish.
In a moment, Lin Xun’s wrist escaped her hand that was firm like an iron band.
Lin Xun’s eyes brightened. As expected, if he managed to exert his power skillfully, it was easy to activate every joint and bone. He could control all the strength at his free will.
In the past, he knew only how to fight with spiritual power. After reflecting overnight, he finally realized that there was also strong power in all tendons, muscles and bones, which, if coordinated well, would bring about incredible effect.
If the body were compared to the battlefield, then all the muscles and joints were like soldiers in it. Commanded well, they could become the strongest troops.
However, before Lin Xun had the time to feel happy, Shia Zhi’s fingers were flexible like a hissing snake, her fingertip tapping slightly on Lin Xun’s wrist. Then Lin Xun felt a tingling on his wrist, losing all the sensation in it.
Bang! He was lifted by arms again and thrown hard to the ground like sifted chaff.

Lin Xun gritted his teeth and stood up, dashing crazily again.
Just now Shia Zhi’s fingertip flicked an acupoint at his wrist. His consistent use of muscular strength was then interrupted, contributing to the numbness of his wrist.
Lin Xun realized that without much thinking and was vigilant about it afterwards.
However, he was beaten down again after only two moves!
This time he was defeated by the unexpected Locking Wrists. Shia Zhi’s hands locked his wrist firmly like an iron ring. With her left hand pushing forward and right hand back, creating an opposing force of percussion, which straightly misplaced his wrist joints.
The whole action was simple and quick, making Lin Xun's wrist flap down with a sound of cracking. He didn’t feel pain until he was knocked to the ground.
It was the Manual to Break Tendons and Bones!
Bringing his wrist joints back to place, he looked at Shia Zhi, without the slightest frustration in his eyes, but a high fighting spirit burning like a fire.
Although defeated again after only two moves, he was much better than yesterday. Lin Xun knew it clearly that he was progressing quickly!
“ Again!”
Lin Xun shouted in a low voice and exerted strength again. But this time he didn’t confine himself to the moving patterns of Marching Boxing. His hands became much more flexible instead.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
In the following time, there were incessant sounds in the courtyard, making people terrified.
Unknowingly, the door of the courtyard was open, and a group of children came in. They were all local kids. Observing their admirable Martial Master, Lin Xun, being defeated by Shia Zhi over and over again, they couldn’t help opening their mouths wide and gasping in horror.
Only five-to-six years old, Shia Zhi was as young as most other kids, or even younger. I It was unbelievable to see that she defeated Lin Xun repeatedly at this moment.
Watching Lin Xun being thrown to the ground again and again, they felt very shocked and also lucky that they hadn’t provoked Shia Zhi previously. Otherwise the consequence would be unimaginable.
Before long, a group of elderly folks heard of this and came too, content to be lookers-on who feared there was not enough bustle to see.
In the meantime, they could feel the pain Lin Xun suffered. More importantly, they were shocked at the strong fighting capability Shia Zhi showed which made her even more extraordinary than Lin Xun. That was something they could never imagine.
Was she really a little girl who was only five-to-six years old?
Supposing that Lin Xun was cheeky enough, he still couldn’t help feeling very embarrassed being observed by so many people like this. He gritted his teeth without a word and let out all his strength into the fight.

As for Shia Zhi, calm and collected as usual, she fought back when Lin Xun attacked her and beat Lin Xun to the ground relentlessly time after time, giving no thought to save him some face.
Maybe in her eyes, everything was for refining Lin Xun’s body, which was a thing that must be taken seriously. There were no such things as face and dignity in her mind.
Seeing Lin Xun falling down miserably over and over, even Shiao Tianren sympathized with him. He gazed at the villagers around, waving and saying, “Don’t you have something better to do? If so, go dig the mine in the Flaming Mountain!”
Shiao Tianren immediately dispersed the crowd and closed the door, leaving the courtyard to Lin Xun and Shia Zhi.
When the night fell, Lin Xun jumped into the wooden bucket again with injuries and scars all over his body, reflecting on the fighting details during the day while Shia Zhi went straight to bed.
It was like this for five consecutive days!
During these five days, Lin Xun did nothing but fight with Shia Zhi and of course eat. Then he recovered himself in the medicine soup and recalled the fighting details silently. Time went on day by day repeatedly, which seemed boring but was, in fact, very fulfilling.
These five days witnessed Lin Xun’s progress in exerting force. Now he could activate the power of all muscles, joints and bones throughout his body.
Besides, there were extremely evident changes in his body. Although judging from the appearance, Lin Xun still exhibited a thin and tall figure; however, deep inside, every inch of his muscles and skin was hard like rock and firm like wire, and every bit of his joints and bones was refined over and over again like a polished jade.
Even his Qi and blood were stronger than before!
Although all the defeat he suffered during these five days seemed to depress him, the benefits were undoubtedly clear. It refined his body.
No doubt, it was something quite cheerful for Lin Xun.
However, the flesh and blood of the wild beasts, spiritual grains and many other spiritual materials in his house were consumed at a surprising rate during these five days.
Not only did he consume a lot of supplies to cure himself, but also the appetite of Lin Xun and Shia Zhi was even much larger than before.
Now Lin Xun could eat half an adult snow-spot leopard and five kilograms of spiritual grains every day. As for the amount of food Shia Zhi needed, it would only be larger than Lin Xun’s.
At this rate, the flesh and blood of the beasts in his house would run out in less than half a month. As for spirit grains, it couldn’t last for a month either.
Lin Xun had to think about one thing--how to get supplies!
Luckily, the villagers began to dig the Fire Copper under the command of Shiao Tianren.
Now hundreds of pounds of copper had been excavated. With the impurities removed, there would be about twenty-five kilograms of Fire Copper left.
If they sold it, considerable wealth would be obtained.
Lin Xun planned to go to the Green-sun Tribe to sell the Fire Copper and many other valuable things that he didn’t need some days later, which should be enough to trade for many supplies.
On the morning of the fifth day, when Lin Xun got up, he was surprised to find that Shia Zhi disappeared, leaving only a note in the room.
The paper wrote, “I’ll be back soon.”
Lin Xun was relieved. Looking at her ugly handwriting, he couldn’t help laughing.
Shia Zhi learned these words from him. Although she was able to chat with him, she still couldn’t recognize words. Thinking of her future, Lin Xun also began to teach her how to read and write.
Now that she said she would come back soon, there was no need to worry. Lin Xun went to the kitchen to prepare breakfast.
When Lin Xun delivered the hot food to the table, the door of the courtyard was knocked open. A wild beast with flaming manes was thrown into the courtyard, shaking the ground.
This was evidently a fiery-maned pig!
It was tied by strings of tough rattans. With its mouth plugged with mud, it could only let out weak howls and its eyes were full of anger.
Meanwhile, the delicate figure of Shia Zhi appeared. She washed her hands, came to the table and started eating.
Lin Xun looked at this blankly. Pointing at the pig, he asked, “You went out just to capture the beast?”
Shia Zhi nodded and said seriously, “After you finish your meal, go fight with the beast. Only with bloody fighting can you know how strong you are.”
Lin Xun’s expression was a little complicated. “If I fail, does it mean that I’m inferior to a pig?” said Lin Xun.
Shia Zhi thought for a while and said firmly, “It does.”
Lin Xun felt distressed in heart. He thought they were just joking about it. But now she really captured a fiery-maned pig and brought it home which was obviously to embarrass him!
“Wait and see, I won’t be defeated by a pig!”
Lin Xun threw a glare at Shia Zhi and wolfed down the food at the table with a combative look.

A Virtual Invasion
An invasion from another dimension is shut down by an Empire's traitor and the world has a scant few decades to build the strength to resist a multidimensional Empire. How will the world fair when no one even knows its doom is one barred gate away? Fortunately, the traitor has a plan. Maybe with a bit of luck and planning, he can build a force to defend the world without anyone realizing it. Author's Thoughts: What is litRPG (From wikipedia) - LitRPG, short for Literary Role Playing Game, is a literary genre combining the conventions of MMORPGs with science-fiction fantasy novels.[1] LitRPG is a literary genre where games or game-like challenges form an essential part of the story. A LitRPG work simultaneously narrates the story of characters inside and outside of the game-world. At least some of the characters in a LitRPG novel therefore understand that they are playing a game: they are 'meta-aware'. So, while Tolkien's Lord of the Rings is a fantasy novel, a book about people creating avatars and interacting in a Lord of the Rings MMORPG would be a LitRPG novel. Why do I read them? You know, I am not too sure. I love MMOs. I played them, quit them, joined up and repeated the cycle. They are fun! They are a massive waste of time but so are most games. Do I want to read about someone else playing them? Sort of?The advent of VR and the possibility of VR someday becoming so immersive that you can't tell them from reality sets the imagination on fire. What if this could be life? But most stories fall short. At the end of the day the protagonist hangs up his VR helmet and goes to have dinner with his mom and dad or other family and it becomes meaningless. It's like the story that ends because the main character woke up and nothing you read matters. There have been some books that explore the concept of the intersection of reality and total immersion VR. Enders Game is a classic. There were a few others that escape me but they exist, however, the cross between the game and reality is weak.So what if the game was real? The technology needed for total immersion VR is so advanced that by the time we reach that goal technology should have naturally evolved to include several items. You must have direct neural input. You simply can't have a total immersion (all senses and perfect presence) experience without this basic prerequisite. If you have direct neural access, you can probably do neat things like feed knowledge and skills directly to that person. You can undoubtedly do many horrible things as well. Muscles are controlled by the brain. If you control the brain why would you let the body just sit there and rot? A person that sits unmoving for 24 hours a day will have their body whither away just like a coma patient. However, if you control the brain you could control the muscles. On a basic level, this would be isometric impulses, working muscle group against muscle group to avoid atrophy. Taken to its logical conclusion you would be able to gain muscle mass and program muscle memory. The flip side is that you could remote control their body... but let's not go there. So what would people do if it were real? Well, they would probably limit and regulate it since the drawbacks are very obvious. Even if you look at the basic aspects of this you can see some negative possibilities. Look at the Sword Art Online anime. Personally, I think they missed the boat by putting a bomb in the VR helmet. Do you really need a bomb when you have direct access to the brain? So what kind of events would you need to have a situation where the obvious drawbacks haven't been explored? Maybe a society where the advancement of technology has so far outstripped the explorations of its applications that ignorance was truly bliss? Okay, so I had to put in an alien invasion to kickstart the premise, but that was just one of the possibilities.

The Event Master
It is a reincarnation/transmigration story where the MC can only do magic that is socially condemned, but is protected somewhat by his powerful political station. For as long as he can keep it, anyway. With a little luck and some modern world thinking, perhaps he'll come up with something to change people's minds. Not forcefully though, that would be unethical. ** The MC is not a fighter. He's a gamer. He loves rpgs, movies, modern music, and telling stories. I intend to post at least once a week in the range of 2k words. If work eases up I'll increase the amount again. ((Work has instead intensified to the point where I'm struggling to get a chapter every two weeks. I'll pick it back up properly when I can, but for now it is on temporary hiatus while I still might post every once and awhile. This winter, I plan to go back to regular posts until the story finishes.))
