《Wish-Fulfilling System》Chapter 26: Assistant-Manager

The old man gave Lian a brief run-down of Antonio’s dilemma. The young man’s mother had a heart disease with complications that could occur at any time. Nothing could be done unless a large amount of money was accumulated in order to transfer her to a hospital overseas for surgery.
Hence, Antonio would work long hours, with no days off, solely to save up money for the operation. Lian wondered why Antonio didn’t apply for government aid. However, considering that the surgery was only available overseas, this probably complicated things even further.
*System: Congratulations! You have understood Antonio’s dilemma. All that is left is to solve it!*
*System: User has gained 300k exp points in: Farming.*
*System: Current experience to reach lvl 7: 929k/1m.*
Lian was pleased to easily receive such a large amount of exp. However, when hearing of Antonio’s plight, he couldn’t but help think back to his own parents.
“I know that nothing serious should happen to my dad anytime soon. I also have the system now just in case…”
“But… what if our family savings run out and medical bills need to be paid? What about my mother who’s working herself to death?”
“Alas, I can’t be impatient. I need to remember the bigger picture. On that note, I just need to keep pushing so I can level up. Regardless, with my skills, I’ll find efficient ways to make money soon…”
He then excused himself, and headed off to the fields. It was the seventh and last day of his machinery task, and he had two left to operate.
The day went by uneventfully as Lian easily shadowed the drivers and then ran the vehicles with his high skill proficiency until the evening.
System: *Task “Trusty Machine Operator” has been completed.*
System: *User has been rewarded with 5m farming exp.*

System: *Congratulations! User has reached lvl 7 in farming. All aspects of the users’ farming knowledge and abilities have increased.*
System: *Current experience to reach lvl 8: 4929k/10m.*
System: *New Task ready to take on.*
After the flurry of notifications, Lian felt a rush of information entering his mind.
“What a jump in exp gain!”
“…Sigh…the best feeling is definitely when you get a notification after a long task.”
Lian quickly looked through his newly acquired knowledge before proceeding to examine his new task. Within less than a minute he rolled his eyes.
“Fuck! It’s only been a day and now I have to ask Senor for a favor yet again…”
“The system calls me shameless, but it’s putting me in situations where I have to be awkward! Max shamelessness my ass!”
This week, Lian had to focus on assisting with managerial tasks, along with continuing to operate certain machinery without needing supervision. Once again, the task should take around a week to complete, as long as he made sure to stay in tune with the daily sub-tasks.
Lian took a deep breath, sighed, and then gazed at the sun. He then made use of his stereo ability to mentally play some slow music. Within a few seconds, Lian turned away from the brightness of the sun, then blinked and coughed.
“Why am I trying to act mysterious again? No one’s even looking at me…”
“Oh well, that made me feel cool for a second.”
He then shrugged and returned to his room. There were two options. He could either investigate the suspicious man from the other day, or assist his main body in preparing for the encounter with the thugs in three days.
Lian was already at level 4 in Brawling. Therefore, despite not having been in a real fight, he had the basics of street combat down. Even if he were to be engaged in combat with more than one person, he would be able to act accordingly.

Regardless, Lian was a cautious person by nature. This skill did not make him anywhere near invincible. Therefore in order to be prepared for any unexpected situations, he hoped to be as strong as possible.
Unfortunately, reaching level 5 in three days would be a stretch. Nonetheless, Lian decided to keep training in his room and going through the motions. As he gained exp, all distracting thoughts of others side-tasks were pushed aside for the time-being to avoid being overwhelmed…
The next day, Lian dropped by the old man’s house to request for permission to assist with managerial activities. With the advancement in his farming skill, Lian knew that the job would consist of working as a supervisor whilst directing and coordinating workers. He would also be recording storage and financial information, inspecting equipment, supplies, and machinery, and guaranteeing the safety of workers, along with ensuring consistent soil quality and correct treatment of live-stock.
Senor Pablo: “…”
Senor Pablo: “You really can’t give us a break can you? Do you want to take over the farm before the month is over?”
Lian knew that the old man was joking. However, with the route in which his tasks were going, this was most likely going to be the case. Such a rate of growth was unfathomable.
As usual, Senor Pablo asked him some general questions to make sure that Lian had a basic understanding of each of his responsibilities. Although Lian was very skilled at pretty much every aspect of farming-including machine operation, the old man was still quite helpful. To manage a farm, a whole other branch of skills outside of general farm-work are required.
Eventually, after going back-and-forth for half an hour, the old man conceded. Lian had done his research! He was genuinely thrilled to see such a knowledgeable young man.
This time, Senor Pablo believed in Lian’s abilities, despite having not yet seen him in action. Although “Diego” was in his mid-20’s, within an unbelievably short time, he had the potential to be a great manager!
Senor Pablo: “Okay… I give up! I’ll give you permission to work as an assistant manager.”
Before continuing, he requested for a pen and paper from Senora Romina.
Senor Pablo: “Back to the topic at hand… I can’t have you working under me. I’m older now and with my energy-levels, there’s only so many things I can teach you at once.”
Senor Pablo: “For this reason, I’m going to have you work under Catalina...”

The Elementalist
The world was thrown into chaos as humans all over the planet were taken to participate in the Trials. A contest to separate the strong from the weak. Each human was given the chance to prove their will and grow in order to survive. Little did everyone know that before this all happened certain individuals were taken to test out the system. Tide was one of those individuals and sadly failed to survive. Instead of dying he was just brought back into the main event when everyone else began. Having a second chance to do better Tide prepares himself for what is to come. Ps. cover image isn't mine. I am just using it as a place holder for now.

Our vision comes back into focus. Our eyes, while being able to perceive the immediate surroundings, still leave us with our minds uncomprehending towards what is actually occurring. Sure, there are definitive things that we can focus on, like the fact that we're either out upon the open sea or the open ocean, there not being much of a difference with no land in sight, as well as the fact that we appear to be upon a haphazardly constructed metal boat, whose seams are barely able to keep a hold of themselves in the crashing waves. However, that does not let us understand what exactly is causing the waves in the first place. If we were to rewind time, we'd find ourselves upon a calm sea under a peaceful sky with the only difference, being a small whirlpool that would be the precursor towards this uproar around the boat. Lightning flashes in the sky, with no clouds being near, and anyone actually manning the boat has either died towards the cause of the smashing tides in the first place, or are fighting amongst the flashes of lightning, all while trying not to become devoured, demolished, and utterly decimated by the beast roiling in the whirling waves. To better understand exactly what is happening here, there is one singular event that needs to be understood, that needs to be explained, and that is the arrival of a creature named Dave. Stepping back from current events and going towards this creature's first appearance in the world, we begin to hear the sound of water slowly dripping across rocky ground. The cavern is utterly silent except for this one constant, its cause feeding channels downwards, sloping towards cracks in the rubble along the floor from broken stalagmites and stalactites. And there, lying on top of something which had fallen over recently, judging from its cracks, is a person, the creature named Dave. His form is fast asleep, either from the impact or from an intoxication, judging from the smell upon its breath. A bright light suffuses into it for a second, giving life towards the pale skin, before it slowly dies down back to the comfortable black of the cave that it's within. Before this moment in time, Dave did not exist in the physical world. At least, not in the reality that he finds himself born into. We do not know whether or not his existence is simply a cosmic joke, or something that is being played out on purpose. All that we do know, is that one moment, the body was not in the cave, and simply formed in the next. The actual earliest time that we know Dave exists, is the interpolation of the memories of J-209, which we'll begin looking into shortly to gain context towards the coming narrative that is being written and hastily trying to keep itself written. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Warning: This story has several things which might turn its readers away. The first is that this story has shifting points of perspective. Don't worry about that previous sentence too much though, as the main character will always have a first person perspective associated with them. However, any other character from which we're viewing the story from will either be in third-person, as we are not necessarily in their shoes at the moment, or in first person, given that the narrator is an actual physical presence within the story. For the most part, chapters will be self-contained with their perspectives, so there will not be an abundance of switching perspectives within the same chapter. The most that an average reader would have to worry about is the fact that perspectives can switch between chapters. The second thing is that the main character is a bit on the 'special' side of things. He's not exactly mentally there most of the time, so there will be some times that his personality or his thoughts do not actively align with his actions. The third, and final thing of importance, is the fact that past the first couple of chapters, nothing has been planned in advance. There are arcs and plots that I want to do, want to implement, or have already been set into motion from our main character's introduction to the world, but the method that I use for my story writing and generating leads towards a bit more random chance being enabled. Basically...there's a lot of dice rolling behind the scenes. To not complicate the story further than its regular LitRPG elements, the rolls will not be publicly available. However, there will be knowledge within the author's notes on whether or not there were positive or negative critical rolls that had occurred within the chapter. You have been warned. Updates: Mondays & Fridays (Schedule permitting) Typical Chapter Length: (2,000-3,000)
8 107The Core, The Recordings of Raan - Fantasy LitRPG Story
The blue screens all around blink like crazy with red letters saying how I'm dead. I rage and wave my hands, but punch nothing but air. Then I remember what I was told, breathe in deeply, trying to steady my mind, smooth my anger, letting the blue vertigo take me with it, letting myself go...Hard-time convicts from a space orbital penitentiary are sent to a hostile planet where odds of survival are minimal. To make things even worse, their memories seemed to be wiped clean. But their killers' instincts are not, and they soon kick in.For a space wars old-timer Raan, it's all different. He remembers everything. And that's a problem. As others fight for survival, he remembers how most of them, himself included, should not even deserve to have a second chance. In a strange new world, as he fights his own demons, he is faced with new ones whose names he does not even know. But giving up is not inside his DNA and fight on he must. For to stop is to die, and to die means he failed, failed himself and all those who still desperately need him.***The Author's Note:This is another in the Core series, the first one being The Wardens of Destiny while there is also a side story The Memoires of Eisen that's exclusive on Patreon for those who would like to support me.The Recordings of Raan occurs after the events in The Wardens of Destiny, and it's a separate thread from the main story. Among other things, I separated it into a new book as it has elements of progressive LitRPG and a fantasy-world setting.Since I'll keep on writing The Wardens of Destiny, this will be one of my side-projects. Eventually in the future, I plan to integrate some of the protagonists in this story with the main storyline.
