Ghost Girl used her key to enter the other realm and followed the address on the card to Chala's house.
Really, this other realm looked no different from Earth, but no pollution and garbage around.
Ghost Girl walked around in city of tall buildings, filled with apartment complex. They looked very modern and clean.
She arrived at the address and knocked on the door.
*KNOCK KNOCK*
...
She knocked again until the it was opened.
Chala had dark bags under her eyes, if that was possible. Chala took a good look at Ghost Girl, who had a dejected look.
"Oh." Chala can guessed what happened. "Come right in."
Ghost Girl walked in and it looked like a dump. Cans of beer and trash were everywhere. Chala had just a tank top and underwear on. Ghost Girl can't help but stare, she's good looking, despite how dirty she is. And she had...marks on her neck.
Chala sweeped the garbage off her couch and patted a spot for Ghost Girl to seat on one side.
Then Chala laid down her head on the other side of the couch and placed her feet on Ghost Girl's lap.
"Okay, what happened?" Chala asked in a sluggish tone with her eyes closed.
Then Ghost Girl told everything that happened since Chala left her in the kitchen. The observing, planning, and killing. She left nothing out and asked why was she still here?
"Are you sure there was no worldly attachments?"
"No... Maybe movies and games I waited for release but that shouldn't qualified right?"
"If you had strong enough feelings or it was a goal of yours when alive, most likely. Even the mundane things can keep people from passing on. They miss the feeling of nature, worried about their family, or wanted to do something but never got to.

No particular friends you cared about? To say some words to them?"
"No."
"Then, I don't know what to tell ya. Maybe you just don't want to disappear."
Ghost Girl contemplated a bit, did she not want to disappear? She started to had mixed feelings about this... Things she wished she did or wanted to do...
Maybe she should wait for those movies and games to come out and see if she pass on... Or get 100 souls to move on.
Ghost Girl dug through her bag and showed 2 black pearls to Chala.
"Oh... These from your parents?"
Ghost Girl nodded.
"Damn, they're freaking black. Pretty evil aren't they?"
Ghost Girl shrugged.
"Okay, these are good. Remember those boards with the list powers and prices?"
Ghost Girl nodded.
Then Chala explained what's the meaning of the color and their conversion rate. These colored souls had to be turned in for CS, currency souls. It's like exchanging gold for paper money. She could exchanged them at the Soul Exchange near the store where she can get the powers.
Golden Souls (people who were kind and charitable) = 5 CS
Black Souls (people who harmed or taken a life of another with malicious intent) = 5 CS
Blue Souls (people who had no desire for material possessions or lack of it) = 3 CS
Grey Souls (people who were morally ambiguous) = 2 CS
White Souls (people with normal desires and normal life-styles, who never harm nor help another) = 1 CS
After listening, Ghost Girl thanked Chala and left to get some powers. Powers will help her out when killing, oooor scare people.

With 10 CS, Ghost Girl bought:
Levitation LV1 (2 CS): the power to rise or hover and move small objects (pots, toys, food, etc.) for 5 minutes.
Illusionist (5 CS): the power to deceive a mortal's eyes. For example: seeing objects that isn't there or seeing a person as someone else. (Can't fake noises, sounds, or voices)(Only works on one person per use)
Current CS: 3
"I should go to school and see what's up." Ghost Girl said.
Her next destinaton was her high school!

How the Stars Turned Red
Announcement as of 05 July 2022: I've been diagnosed with some pretty severe nerve damage in my left arm, rendering me unable to write effectively, and as such this story is on hold until it is healed. I am so sorry, and I promise to get back to writing as soon as possible. In the latter half of the 3rd millennium CE, humanity has spread across the stars, inhabiting close to five-hundred worlds across the Orion Arm. Earth has become irrelevant, a historical has-been. The galactic map is dominated by two mega-factions, both controlling vast amounts of territories either through direct control or through their many allies and treaty signatories. The Kingdom of Aurora is the political and economic hegemon despite consisting of only seven inhabited worlds; their strength lies in the Royal Union, an interstellar commonwealth composing an internal market and a common defence pact. These member worlds are myriad and varied, culturally as well as politically, but they all flock to the same banner. The Independent Systems Alliance, spearheaded by the Republic of Elysium, is the ascendant challenger to Aurora and the Union. A pseudo-federal multi-system polity, the Alliance economy and military is rapidly expanding, but at the cost of effective democratic and meritocratic involvement by its people. However, with two superpowers as this, chafing along a common border, and with a constant clamour of polemics, both sides have become convinced the other is constantly preparing for war and are on the look-out for any perceived weakness in their opponent. The predictable result is a huge arms race and a cold war spreading across the stars, requiring only a spark to set the galaxy aflame. Drawn into this game of high stakes are ordinary men and women, their peaceful lives, hopes, and aspirations swallowed by the vortex of conflict and distrust. This is their story. Cover art by Rhodex Designs (FB). Hope you like long chapters and adjectives. Note: English is not my first language. Another story set in the same universe, written by a good friend
