19 days after the explosion - ????

The prince couldn't believe that the duke would do this, not because it was ballsy, but because it didn't make sense according with what he knew of him

It's not like the prince just let the duke, general and archmage do whatever they wanted because he was lazy or because he trusts them. The prince didn't believe in trusting people. He preferred to know them.

And for what he knew of the duke, he wasn't the type to just sell his country for profit or something like that since even if he was a lust pig, he was also a great patriot

If he only was a lust pig interested in fu-king women and going up in the ranks, the prince mother would have disposed of him ages ago. It didn't matter how powerful he was, for a monster like the queen, disposing of someone and getting a profit was as easy as breathing

No, the reason he was still alive even with his power-hungry schemes and constant lusting for women was not only because he was capable, but he really cares for the country and his people. Well, the reason he cared was because he hated seeing miserable woman, both nobles, and commoners, as long as they were pretty

He was even of great help during the first years of the prince father rule, since he saw potential in him and agreed to support him in his quest to restore the empire. Still, the prince father told him that a few years later the duke confessed that the real reason he helped the king was because he had great taste in women since he went the extra mile to marry the prince mother, a great woman even the duke had his eyes on her. He even told the king that for a woman like that, he would be capable of getting rid of his harem and go for monogamy without regret

So for someone like him, that worked really hard to make the kingdom what it is today, and hated for beautiful women to be miserable, to suddenly kidnap him and probably help in all that happened until now was strange. He may be mistaken, but the prince doubted this was just trying to seize power since the duke wasn't interested in it. He was more the type to enjoy power without the responsibility so he could enjoy his time with the ladies, and the duke knew that becoming king would suck up all his free time

For what he knew of the duke, there should be something more or someone else behind all this, and if he played his cards right, he may find out something

So, the first thing he did after waking up and gathering his thought was to look around. As soon as he woke up, he realised that he had his hands tied, but when he looked at his feet, they were also tied, and he find the situation kind of annoying, since he felt really uncomfortable. The problem was, he didn't want to waste them until he knew more about the situation, so he couldn't use them yet

Instead, he chose to look around and see where he was. It turns out he was on a bed in one of the villa's rooms(not his), with the windows curtains closed. He wasn't particularly hungry or weekend so he could guess that he didn't sleep for long, and he could hear murmurs outside

"Hey, what's going on!?"(prince) yelled, trying to catch the people outside attention

The door to the room suddenly opened and a guy in armor entered it.He looked around and smiled when he realized the prince was still in the bed with his hands tied

"Oh! You are awake, great"(armor) said that while approaching the prince

"Soooo, can you explain what's going on?"(prince) said, kind of annoyed

"Sorry dude, I don't know sh-t"(armor)shrugged

"WELL, what do YOU know!?"(prince) insisted

"I was told to guard the door and not let you out, nothing else"(armor)

"And what about the others?"(prince)

"Nothing much, I think they have the little girl and the blond girl in other rooms, that's all I know"(armor)

"Wait, and the guard and maid?"(prince) got worried

However, instead of answering, armor looked grim for a second and shut up. That didn't look like good news, and he probably could guess what happened

"So?What happened?"(prince) wanted to confirm his suspicions

"I don't know, sorry kid"(armor)lied

The prince wasn't in the mood to press the armor guy anymore, and the armor guy wasn't in the mood to keep talking, so he left the prince alone by leaving the room and closing the door

After a few minutes, Susan came into the room, probably called by the armor guy after leaving. She was wearing a sad smile with a pale face and tired eyes, almost like one of those woman's in ghost stories

"Hey prince"(Susan) not sounding much better than how she looked

"Hey Susan, so how long have you been stabbing me in the back?"(prince) said pretty bluntly

Susan flinched for a second after hearing that but managed to keep her composure

"Since before I met you. I was the one that opens the hole in Rebbeca's wall"(Susan)

"Ooooh! That's why you were acting suspiciously that day! I found it really strange at the moment but I never thought it was because of that"(prince) was a little glad he solved a few mysteries

"Yeah, I tried really hard to stop you from looking at that hole, it's surprising I wasn't found out"(Susan) confessed

"Well, I probably didn't care enough at the time, it's not like i didn't have enough on my mind. By the way, what else were you involve in"(prince) was hoping to finally getting some real answers

"I mostly reported what you did to the duke, like you already suspected, and helped him with some stuff, nothing more"(Susan)

"Was the duke behind the explosion at the temple?"(Prince)

"I don't know, he only told me what to do, not why do it, or what his plan was"(Susan)

Sh-t, I hope it was him and only him. More people would be annoying(prince)

"So, what happen to us now?"(prince) said while trying to keep his cool

"I am supposed to keep you here until the duke decides what to do with you, Aria is definitely a hostage for the general, but I am not sure what his plans for you and Lina are"(Susan)

"And The maid and guard?"(prince) Hoped to get a better answer from her than armor

But what he got was a paler expression from her and a moment of silence. It surprised the prince that she didn't fall unconscious right there

"So?"(Prince) expecting the worst

"They weren't necessary, do I need to say more?"(Susan) told him the truth

"No, I get it"(prince) felt dejected

He knew it was his fault for involving them in all this and he was partly to blame for what happened to them. As for Aria and Lina, they were in danger no matter where they were

"Can you at least untie me? My hand hurts"(prince) tried to appeal to her pity

"Sorry prince, you are too dangerous to be left free"(Susan)didn't budge

"Why? I am weak. Everyone knows I am useless"(prince) played the fool act

"I don't buy it, you have done to many moves behind the scene to be as incompetent as they say. Better to be safe than sorry"(Susan) didn't buy the act

-tsk-(prince) clicked his tongue. What's the point of being looked down when it was useless when needed

"So, what happens now?"(prince)said without hiding his annoyance

"Well, you will stay here tied up until further instructions"(Susan)

WAIT! WHAT ABOUT MY HANDS AND LEGS!?"(prince)

"didn't I just say? you will remain tied up until further instructions. I wouldn't feel safe otherwise"(Susan)

"Isn't this overkill!!!? I am not dangerous, I promise"(prince) Tried to act weak

"Sorry, we are too busy with everything going on, I can't also worry about you. When we have more manpower I will let you go, but right now you will have to deal with it"(Susan)

"Wait! what's going on?"(prince)

"faking your dead of course"(Susan) left the room while leaving those parting words

He was left alone in the room, but the prince was glad of what he find out. Not only did he finally resolved a couple of mysteries, they were quite busy right now (unless Susan lied) so it was a great moment to strike

He did felt bad for the maid and guard, but moping around wouldn't get him anywhere
