Chapter 20
~ The Chaotic PK System ~
SW/SW/SW
“The Guards?” Ace frowned.
“Zey're some sort of defense mekanizm to privent PKing in town. Bunch of OP NPCz. No matter how ztrong you are, you von't be a match vor zem.”
Ace nodded, “Oh, I see... wait, why are we talking so leisurely! Let's go!”
QueeN followed Ace to where DPS and Maria was.
“Guys, are you okay?” Ace asked, worried.
DPS acted like the usual silent, cool guy he was. Maria nodded, slowly smiling at the familiar faces, “We are. Don’t worry.”
“Gott, sie had the neerv to try killing people in town!” QueeN fumed, “if I hadn’t be zo underleveled, I’d go kick her azz!”
Looking at the Dora-girl in the distance, Ace spoke out loud, “Who were those guys?”
“Muhehehe,” if it wasn’t DPS who answered, Ace would’ve laughed nonstop.
Was it just him or this guy spoke so… little?
“Come, we shouldn’t talk here. Otherwise, we’ll attract unwanted attention,” Maria urged them to return to the headquarters.
Once they had arrived in their guild room, QueeN growled, “How despicable, accusing uz as cheeterz! I’m ztill zo mad at zem! Did you heer me? Mein biiutivul zelf ist holding an unholy grudges!”
“What I understand is they were mad at you, right? Because you got a Soul Slicer?” Ace turned to DPS.
He just nodded.
Seriously, this guy needed to talk more…
Was he a chuunibyou imitating 2D anime character or something?
“I can safely assume that you have read about Azariel, then?” Maria began, “most guides labeled Soul Slicer as the hardest weapon to get and here DPS got it. To be honest, I was shocked myself.”
“What I don’t understand is that they’re acting like a jerk.”
“Most of the online gamers are jealous kids.”
“Are you serious? For a sword they called us cheaters? That’s way too much!” Ace shook his head disbelievingly.
“Oh, believe me they will do much more than that. Once I was their target because of these wings,” Maria patted her neatly folded wings. “These are quite rare and they wanted these for themselves. Fortunately I managed to survive those nasty PKs attacks. Dear me, DPS is clearly in danger now…”
Ace felt something nagging on the back of his mind and he demanded, “What’s this about PK and fights that you don’t tell me?”

The atmosphere turned several degrees colder as Maria went to a complete silence. QueeN scratched her nose in an attempt to busy herself and pretended not to hear anything.
It was DPS who spoke, “Losing to PKs means they can rob your equipment.”
Ace returned his gaze with wide eyes. Every word he spoke was articulated so slowly, “Are you kidding me?”
“No,” was his answer.
“Can we get the equipment back?” Ace pressed on.
“Yes, we can,” Maria murmured, “but do you think they would let us do that easily? Oh, no. That’s why the system offered great rewards for killing PKs. Also, that is the reason why we and Muhehehe quickly become enemies. They attacked us and we retaliated. Our relationship is going south ever since.”
Sighing, Ace put his hand on his forehead, “…why do I see a guild as a corporate company now? Well, at any rates, we should plan a strategy to keep them at bay.”
“Why?” DPS asked.
“We need to keep you safe?” Ace frowned at his question, “you’ve got yourself a nice weapon and Muhehehe certainly has placed a huge bounty on your head.”
“True,” Maria nodded, “as our Guild Master, your safety is important.”
Ace turned sharply to Maria, a hand pointed at DPS, “He is the Guild Master?!”
Maria was taken aback at his sudden outburst, “Y-Yes. I had this assumption that you already knew. I mean he had given you the key. Only the Guild Master can send guild invitations. The vice then selects promising candidates and rejects the rest.”
“I didn’t know…” actually he hadn’t a thought about that. DPS didn’t look like a Guild Master at all. He’d got a look of a lone wolf, who preferred to hunt and live by himself. This came as a surprise to him.
“Don’t need protection,” DPS spoke, baited everybody’s attention. “Can protect myself.”
“Don’t be zilly! Of courz you can’t!” QueeN pouted, “vhat if zey bring vriends? You can’t pozzibly handle zem alone!”
“I said I don’t need it. That’s final,” with that he ended the discussion and left the guild room.
Maria sighed, “Goodness, that boy…”
From the way she said it, Ace had a feeling that Maria knew DPS in real life.

QueeN smiled uncomfortably at him, blue eyes shining apologetically, “Zorry ‘bout zat, Ace. He’z kind of… vell, grumpy and zelfish. Don’t take it to heart, okay?”
“Is he always like that? He looks like he belongs to himself.”
“Vell, zat ist also korrekt. DPS rarely talks, so ve don’t know vhat he ist zinking avout. Quite ovven ve hav some mizunderstanding. Some ov uz zink zat he hates us. I vish he vould talk more…”
So he was an introvert?
Ace had this introverted classmate in junior high and he kept everything by himself. It took Ace ages to make him open up a little but there was no progress after that. It was easy to get close to him since they were classmates, but in DPS’ case they were total strangers. Getting through his barrier would prove to be an arduous task.
Hmm, maybe Agriella knew how to deal with someone like that?
0000
“Eh? How to befriend a private person?” she asked back, blinking repeatedly. “hmm, I’m not so sure. I’m so sorry, Master…”
“Eh, uh… don’t bow. It’s alright,” he lifted his hands in the air, face red. “It’s not like I’m angry or something.”
When Agriella straightened out her body, Ace could see that her clothes were intact. There was no indication of Agriella ever being stabbed on the chest, which was good.
He wondered if she experienced pain…
Slowly the lamia grasped his hands and placed them on her breasts.
“Wh-Wh-Wh-What do you think you’re doing?!” Ace blushed heavily. His attempt to withdraw his hands fell to no avail under Agriella’s surprisingly strong grip.
“Well, you were staring at them, so I thought you wanted to feel them. So here you go. Touch them to your heart’s desire.”
Her honesty only made him blushed even harder.
“I-I-I did stare, but I didn’t think about them that way!” Ace was still struggling to break free.
Agriella cocked an eyebrow, “So you say, but why do you grope me?”
Looking down, Ace realized that his hands had instinctively grabbed the chunk of tender meat. With a cry, he withdrew his hands and apologized profusely.
“It’s okay, Master. I’m yours so feel free to do that again.”
Ace’s hand slowly went to his eyes, covering them. “Please, don’t say something so misleading…”
He couldn’t feel what her breasts felt like since this was but a game. Ace bet that they were soft to touch…
No! No, no, no! What was he thinking?! Girls are not squeezing toys!
Ping! [Tel Nevos time: 9.20 a.m/ real world time: 6.00 p.m]
“Oh, crap! It’s that time already? Sorry, I have to go!” his mom would be angry if he was late for dinner. “See ya, Agriella! J-Just don’t go shoving my hands on your breasts again, okay?”
She waved her hands as he disappeared into nothingness.
0000
Agriella’s eyes stared into space as she put her hands in the middle of her chest.
“…I feel so warm. What is this? This feeling…”
Her murmur was left unanswered.

His thoughts returned and he heard the screaming of his people and the great pain from the burning fires set against them. He was shunned and outcast along with the rest of his people, and the wars, the terrible wars fought because they could not understand. The Humans could not understand and would not understand him and his peoples true nature. He stood, his strength returning to him, as he did so the dust that had gathered on him fell to the floor. He looked around the cave which he hid in all those centuries ago and he found the way out. He made his way towards it, wanting to see the same as which he had when he entered, wilderness. He made it to the mouth of the cave and found it to be near midday, and he saw naught but wilderness. Save a lone tower far in the distance clearly overgrown and abandoned.
