《Job Arseoth - A Choose Your own Adventure》Aside: Dragons and Hoarding in Arisverse

From the private notes of Lady Ilelahne SiDabolo:
Dragons are, as most anyone knows, beings of both legendary power and rarity. The latter is especially true since The Seminal War; many dragons were either slain in the fighting or perished in its wake. Other sections of this work will cover dragons of note, both past and present, while this section is intended as a general overview of the race as a whole.
Chromatic and Metallic dragons differ in more than just the color of their scales, and I do not refer simply to the element and shape of their breath attacks. both sub-races follow Bahamut, lay eggs, shed scales as they grow, and so forth. one of the differences (academic or irrelevant to the average Adventurer as it may be) is that Chromatic Dragons cast spells in the same manner as Dragon Blood Sorcerers while Metallic Dragons cast spells as Wizards. The critical difference is that Chromatic Dragons are innate spellcasters calling on their own natural abilities, while Metallic Dragons must learn and hone their talent through practice and study. This means that the abilities of Chromatic Dragons are relatively easy to predict, while Metallic Dragons have a much wider array of possible spells at their disposal. They still tend to specialize in a single school, the same as any Wizard of more mortal scale, but have thousands of years of experience. If one wishes to go looking for magical knowledge thought lost during The Seminal War, then a Metallic Dragon may be your best (or only) source.
Irrespective of sub-race, all Dragons are known to Hoard. This is speculated to be somewhere between an instinctive behavior and a cultural imperative, possibly even a divine command form Bahamut. I have spoken with several dragons on this matter in my years of research, and have never received a satisfactory, comprehensive answer. Accordingly, I will do my best to summarize this behavior.

Every dragon will Hoard. While the exact item of a Dragon's desire will change from dragon to dragon, the urge to collect and protect is universal. The older the dragon, the larger the Hoard. this is both because the number of things in a dragon's hoard tends to grow with time (and older dragons have had longer to collect things) and because older dragons tend to have stronger and / or more focused desires. More powerful / important / valuable items take up more 'space' in a Hoard. Accordingly, a Dragon may have many 'small' things in its Hoard, a few 'Large" things, or a mixture of the two. Not all Hoards are tangible. The most notable example of this is probably that of Gurvurm, who Hoards power over others. Such abstract hoards are rare, but not unheard of. they also tend to be more portable, and are often the province of dragons who have adapted a nomadic lifestyle in the wake of The Seminal War.
The desire / urge / need to Hoard emerges while a Dragon is still young, but can and often is, deferred until a dragon leaves the nest and strikes out on its own. if deferred for too long however, the Hoarding instinct will become harder and harder to resist. I could find no records of any dragon younger than a young adult without a hoard of some sort, even if it is only a few 'seed' items to sate the need. It is worth noting that a dragon will never change what it is Hoarding. They are reluctant to let items leave their hoard for any reason, and it is recorded that dragons will chase thieves to 'the ends of the world and beyond' both to recover what was taken and to punish the thief.

Aurora Scroll
Hey, what would you do after you got isekai-ed? Me? Look! A cockroach villain has appeared. Let's kill him before he messes things up. Too cruel? That kind of character is always introduced to be killed by the protagonist anyway so I'm doing the world a favor here. Less CO2 emission. It's time to "Go Green" guys, even in another world. See over there, that's a trash young master type right there. What do I do? Endure the initial insults and provocation then dispose of him when no one sees of course. Why make things difficult? Hmm, a pretty girl in peril. Potential love interest there… but no, I have enough problems as it is. At the very least, I won't help her just 'cause she's a female. Same goes for males. What? I support gender equality. Hey, I know the clichés, what did you think I was going to do? Simply let it run its course? Well duh, I'll twist it to my benefit. ************************************************ -This is a power fantasy story. The 8th Day
One day life is good. The next day it isn't! The boundaries between... well, whatever they're between.. have shattered! Monsters burst out from cracks in the universe, and reality suddenly begins to function similar to a game -- but not a game that anyone knows all the rules about! Magic is suddenly real, but so are monsters and death! Lots of death! And the worst part of it all? I think we did it to ourselves! We invented video games, and personally I think that great Finger-in-the-Sky picked up a console somewhere and started playing them. Since He liked what he saw, he must've declared, """"On the 8th Day, let there be Game!"But what do I know about it all, really. After all, I'm just """"The Witness"""" forced to observe it all.__________________________________________________________________________Author's Note: There's a lot of tales where characters get stuck in a Virtual Reality. """"Sword Art Online"""", """"Log Horizon"""", """"The Legendary Moonlight Sculptor"""". This is a story told with the premise inverted -- instead of a person from reality going into a virtual world, what would happen if the virtual world instead came to reality?I want this tale to speak about the aspects of the game, as it has affected the current reality, but the focus of the story should never be on the """"reality-turned-game"""" itself, but on the characters and their oh-so-human struggles, personalities, and attempt to adjust and live within the bounds of their new existence. Hopefully this won't just be a story of """"reality turned into a game"""", but instead will be something more meaningful such as a story of the strengths, perseverance, and humanity of man-kind as they try to adapt and face the unknown.*** And, most importantly, I hope everyone enjoys reading it as much as I've enjoyed writing it. ***WARNING: RATED MATURE M[18+] FOR GORE, SEX, VIOLENCE. The apocalypse isn't a pretty place to try to survive in, and neither is every scene in a story trying to describe it.

Justine's part is to program a solar eclipse in Darkentide. Alfie's part is to design and release the shadow monsters during the eclipse. Justine succeeds with her programming, and then the sun goes out in Darkentide. But when Alfie enters the shadow monster difficulty level with an extra zero at the end, he unleashes an evil greater than even he could imagine. A hooded figure appears in their office, turning Alfie to ash where he sits. The stranger spares Justine, but imprisons her inside the Darkentide game, to prevent her from interfering with his plans to destroy the real world. Tales of Light
These are a collection of short stories following different narratives. It's more like a playground and experimenting with ideas or subjects I don't want to write a complete story about. It's also a place to test my skills as a writer. Think of it as a notebook of un/finished ideas. Feel free to pick and choose which chapters to read. They aren't related unless specifically said otherwise. Just relax, enjoy, and cringe at goofy stories. There may be a timeline of events, or not... who knows?

Deal With A Maid and A Bartender
Alicia is a nervous wreck. All of her friends are either going off to college, getting married, yes, you read that right, or living off their rich parents. She on the other hand doesn't know what to do with her life. College? Eh, maybe. Getting a job? That's her best bet, as her parents are not threatening her to move out, but expect her to by the end of the month. Parental care much? Time ticking and her parents not seeming to care, she walks into a Maid Cafe and Bar with the possible attempt to apply. The Bartender offers to hire her on the spot, under one condition. After every shift, she accompanies him home. With the thoughts of rape, murder, even some sick twisted love fantasy going through her mind, she accepts out of desperation, and perhaps, pure idiocy. Besides, she's gauranteed $2000 a paycheck. How bad could it be? All feedback is greatly appreciated. *This story may become 'Reader Interactive' hence the tag*
