《Cursed Armor Reincarnation》Chapter 21: Time to Prep

Rune returned Sophia and Roxana back to the house and entered the mall that Tyler started. The door was made of glass and metal and looked extremely fancy The walls were cement with white paint over it and there were windows put in the wall every several meters.

He walked through the door and found that the floor had a carpet path and there were a great many people in the mall. People bustled about, talked to each other, and carried around large bags. There were several benches around the large hall and chandeliers with fire burning on it.

The stores had no doors and windows. They had candles inside to show people what there was in the store. There were two floors and only one store was larger than the rest.

Rune moved to a desk near the entrance where a woman was holding an orb. He waited in front of the desk for a while before she finally opened her eyes.

“Oh! I’m so sorry, sir! Were you waiting for long?”

“No. Do you know where Tyler is?”

“Are you talking about president Tyler?”

“...Sure.”

“He doesn’t usually meet with customers. I can tell him that you were looking for him. What is your name?”

“Rune.”

The woman put her hand back on the orb and closed her eyes. After a while, she opened her eyes and seemed confused. She looked back at the orb, then at Rune.

“Um, you will meet in five minutes. Someone will escort you there.”

Soon after she said that, a pair of people with swords at their sides and black armor walked over to him. They stopped in front of him and bowed their head a little.

“We are here to escort you, Mr. Rune.”

They started to move and Rune followed. There was a smaller hallway where the bathrooms were and, even farther than that, was a door to go downstairs to the offices. They moved down a single flight of stairs and entered an area where cubicles made of thin wood were placed in rows.

The guards took Rune down one row and they ended up at a door that had a name written on it in gold letters. It read “Tyler Orun” and one of the guards knocked on it. Slowly, it opened and a head peeked out.

It was Mari, Tyler’s girlfriend, who opened it the rest of the way. She looked up meekly at Rune.

“A-are you Mr. Rune?”

“Yes.”

“P-please come in.”

Rune walked past Mari into the room and she closed the door behind him. The room was lit up by a light similar to sunlight and it was clean everywhere. Rune was surprised by the state of the room and how clean it was as he knew that Tyler was a slob. Mari likely cleaned up the place.

There was a desk in between two shelves that had multiple books and black boxes. There was a chair in front of the desk, one pushed to the side, and another that Tyler was sitting in.

“Thanks for letting my friend in, Mari.”

Mari smiled and sat in a chair to the side. Rune stepped towards the unfilled chair and sat down. He turned to Tyler and started to speak.

“I am going to go on a trip. It will likely take a very long time, but I need you to do some things. First, look over my school. I am not telling you to run it, but to watch over it to see if anything goes wrong. The second thing is that I want you to have Kelly and Jared develop as many powerful weapons as they can while I’m gone. It doesn’t matter what it is, just have them try and make it. Lastly, I need supplies and a ship. Do you know to get them?”

“Ok. Hold up. Write it down, then I’ll see.”

Rune pulled out a paper and a quill and ink.and scribbled down his instruction. He handed the paper over to Tyler who looked it over. Then he nodded.

“Ok. I see. I can get some food and some water, but you have to pay me 200 gold coins. I’ll deliver it in two days. I can definitely watch over your school and tell Kelly and Jared to work on some stuff. The ship will be kind of hard, but I know a guy named Marq. Go talk to him. He usually is in the food court with a long blue coat.”

“Thanks. Here is the money.”

He reached into his storage and pulled out a bag of coins. Mari gasped as she saw this and Rune ignored her as he put the money in front of him.

“Deliver it in two days or I’ll come back.”

Rune left the office floor and walked up to the second floor. There, he saw a large crowd of people standing in long lines. There were four restaurants that sold food and every table and seat were filled up.

People of all races were all together and had all kinds of clothes and equipment. The seats were made of wood painted white and the tables were made of a wooden frame with a stone table top.

Rune looked around to see a person matching Tyler’s description. In the middle of the table area sat a man with a long, blue coat with a fur collar. His hat had two blue feathers in it and was much larger than his head.

After squeezing through the large crowd of people, he found himself standing in front of the man’s table. He looked up with a huge sandwich longer than his arm in his hand. Even though Tyler had said that he was usually found in the food court, he was most definitely not fat. In fact, he was the opposite with a skinny stomach.

“And who might you be?”

“I am Rune. I heard that I should come to you about finding a ship.”

“I can do better than that, boy! I make ships! Now what kind of ship do you want?”

“One that can survive hundreds of monster attacks as well as carry a large amount of supplies. Can you make that?”

“If I had enough man power and enough money, then yes. I could. Do you have 3,000 gold coins? With that much, I can buy an old battle cruiser and renovate it.”

“Yes. Where should we meet?”

“There is a port city all the way north of here. I will be there at the huge docks on the east side of the city. Go there in a week and be prepared to tell me what you have in mind.”

Then the man took an impossibly large bite of his sandwich and Rune left. He was going to go check in on Kelly and Jared. If they were in the lab, then they would have finished it by now.

Lying on his back, Rune looked up at the sky. He was currently on the roof of the school in the afternoon. Clouds rolled over the plains around the school and the sun was slightly covered by the clouds. There was a slight breeze moving throughout the school on this sunday.

The deliveries were supposed to arrive in two days. He sighed as he thought about how far he had gotten in the past several months. He had thought that he used to be the strongest person in the world, but apparently there was a whole other continent that was stronger than him.

He was, however, excited about getting stronger than the other continent because he really did not have anything else to do other than be at his school. He was already an adult in this world and even had an adopted child. The only things he could do were very limited.

He sat up and looked to the horizon. He noticed that there was a huge cloud of dust that seemed to get closer. He stood up and pulled out his hovering platform. After stepping on, he moved towards the cloud.

The grass under him moved around like water when a ship passes over it. Soon, he reached the cloud and realized what it was.

There were two carriages with horses running at full speed and a large thing underground making the ground churn as it moved. Rune could see some parts of the creature that had a sand colored exoskeleton.

One of the horses tripped and that carriage flipped on its side. The flipped carriage tripped the other carriage and both spun out of control. Then they skidded to a stop and Rune could see the horses bleeding as they whinied. The carriage walls broke and bags, chests, and several people fell out of it.

The beast under the ground surfaced and Rune could see that it was basically a large centipede. It had large mandibles that looked strong enough to crush a car and its legs as well as its speed made it extremely fast and dangerous.

Rune, however, was bored and wanted to kill something. He drew his wind and lightning chain cleaver and aimed it at its head. Carefully judging the distance, he threw it.

It spun four times in the air with tremendous speed before landing perfectly in the center of the large insect’s head. As it did so, Rune cast [Water Ball], [Water Control], and [Lightning Grip].

Water appeared and turned into a string. Rune put his hand in the string and electrified it. Connected with water to the chain cleaver, it started to turn it’s gears and blood spurted from its new laceration.

The insect fell with a thud and Rune absorbed it after placing his cleaver back in his storage. Jumping from his platform, he could see five people looking dazed and two of them were curling up in a ball.

He moved towards them and several of them flinched as they saw his figure.

“Who are you five?”

They stayed silent as they eyed his movements. He stood in front of the nearest person and stared them down.

“Who. Are. You?”

“I-I am N-Nerem.”

Nerem was scared when Rune glared at him and started to stammer. The person had a small, wispy mustache and his eyes were a dark green color. His hair was blond and was cut short. He wore red and yellow clothes and had a shortsword at his side.

It was evident from the small stature and immature air about him that he was still a boy. He looked up at Rune with eyes full of fear and terror.

The four other people had dirty blond hair and wore butler and maid outfits. They were looking at Rune warily as if he was going to kill someone.

“So, Nerem, what are you doing here?”

“I-I… We are here to trade some goods with a nearby village. It is called Aymren.”

“What are you doing here then? Aymren is that way!”

Rune pointed in the opposite direction of where the two carriages were travelling. They turned to look at where he was pointing.

“Well, yes. We know. It’s just that this insect appeared when we passed by a shortcut. The place was labeled Death Dunes.”

Rune face palmed as they said “Death Dunes”. It was painfully obvious that no one should go through or even near a place with such an evil and dangerous sounding name.

“Why!? Why would you go to such a place?!”

“I-it was a good shortcut from where we were.”

He sighed loudly and turned around. Nerem got up quickly and rushed towards Rune.

“Wait!! Please, help us!”

Rune turned his head and glared at him with enough ferocity that he fell backwards. He felt a cold shiver go down his spine as he fell.

“Why should I do that?”

He spoke in an aggravated tone as he glanced over the rest of the people. They shivered, one by one, as his gaze fell over them.

“We would like to stay in your residence for a while before we head out again. Um, this is an order from a baron’s son?”

The four others smirked as the boy said this. One of them even hid a smile under their hand. Rune responded with a firm tone that told them that he didn’t want them to anger him any more than they had already.

“I out rank you because I am a marquis.”

All of them immediately stopped smiling and their jaws hit the floor as they stared at him. Rune was flashing a smile that said that he would kill them if they annoyed him enough.

“Best be on your way. Here. I’ll even give you this. But now you owe me.”

Rune took one of their carriages and transmuted it to fix its basic structure. Then he enchanted it with floating and going in a direction the user wanted it to go.

“So what is the name of the baron that owes me now?”

He shoved his face right in front of Nerem and he started to have cold sweat roll down his face. He looked away towards his servants and they gave him a thumbs up.

“It is Baron Luxfreed.”

“Tell him he owes Marquis Rune Samuv about 150 gold coins or materials worth that much. Now leave.”

Rune turned around and plucked his hovering platform from the sky. The five of them watched as he placed it in his storage and teleported himself. Dumbfounded, they slowly got up and packed the undamaged merchandise on the carriage and went back to their fief.

Rune had teleported to his house where he walked in to find Rouna, Lisbeth, and Sophia sitting together in the foyer. They were drinking tea and chatting with one another, but it looked like Lisbeth was getting frustrated and Rouna was trying to suppress a smile on her child-like face.

Rune started to move around the three sitting at the coffee table when Lisbeth saw Rune out of the corner of her eye and turned to him. She sprang up from the sofa and bounded over to him. Quickly, she hid behind Rune and crouched on the ground.

“*Sniff* Please, save me. *Sniff* Rune, Rouna’s being mean!”

“Hmm? What are you doing to Lisbeth?”

“Nothing much. Just talking about how she will forever be alone.”

“Uh, I don’t think you should do that. How old are you?”

‘I am 5,467 years old. Why? You shouldn’t be asking a maiden about her age.”

She wagged her finger in front of his face as she said that with a wide grin on her face. She had her eyes closed and was kneeling on the sofa.

“You shouldn’t torment her about being alone in her 16 years of life when you have been alone for 5,467. I rest my case.”

“W-what?! You don’t know that!!”

“You told me a while ago that you didn’t have a “mate”.”

Her face started to turn red as she hid her face with her hands. She slowly sank and lied down on the sofa with her face in a cushion.

“There you go, Lisbeth. Now, I’m off to the lab. Rouna, Sophia, we’ll head out in half a month.”

He walked down the hallway to meet up with Kelly and Jared in the lab. To be truthful, they were likely only coming out to go to the bathroom and to eat. Rune had already prepared a bed and blankets for them to sleep there.

He opened the door and walked in through the thin barrier that separated the world with regular time with a small pocket world with slower time. In essence, this room where time went from one second to 2 hours, there was another smaller world inside the current one, Arborea.

He entered the room to see Kelly busy working on something. It looked like she was welding metal together. Jared was connecting wires together and connecting it to a capsule.

“Hey. How’s it going?”

“Good. It’s been, what? 80 days?”

“Um, one day.”

“Ah, well time is very different from here to the outside. At least our bodies change at the rate of the outside.”

“True. What have you finished in the meantime?”

“We completed the radio in the first 5 days. In the rest, we have been trying to recreate weapons from our world, but we haven’t figured out how to create missiles or anything like it. In fact, guns are a bit more difficult, but we have come up with the idea that muskets run on.

If we put in the fire power outside of the bullet and in the gun itself, we would be able to launch the projectile. In this world of magic, we can use a magic tool that causes explosions as well as one that can withstand as many explosions as possible.”

“Oh. If you make the frame, I can add any enchantment you guys want. Just ask.”

“Really?! Please, enchant this with what we just told you!”

Kelly handed Rune a gun shaped object. It had a trigger, barrel, hammer, frame, muzzle, and a cylinder. It was basically a magnum without the bullets. He looked it over and handed it back to her.

“Can you take it apart first?”

“Oh. Sure. Here you go!”

She placed all the parts on the table and even took out six metal bullets. They seemed to be in the shape of bullets, but they didn’t have gunpowder in it and were just metal. Rune first looked at the hammer and enchanted it so that it would cause a small explosion that had a large amount of force. He had been practicing his enchantment skills in case he needed them and it was now [Enchant All] with the ability to give any enchantment to inanimate objects.

He then enchanted all the gun parts to be extremely durable, enough so that explosions wouldn’t even scratch the gun. He made the bullets sharper and to cut through the air in front of it. Then he made it so that there was no recoil and that the gun was light.

Kelly and Jared watched in amazement as green light appeared and blue writing formed on the objects. Then it disappeared as soon as the light went away and Kelly quickly put the gun together.

She placed the bullets in the chamber and was looked for something to shoot. Rune sighed, plucked the gun from her hands, and threw an explosive disk. This new disc was one where it would detonate on impact to the top. Kelly was startled when Rune nabbed the gun from her hands and looked at him in disbelief.

Rune aimed the gun with the skill he gained from getting the Mage Killer job, [Physical Enhancement], to aim the gun perfectly at the desc and shot it. The explosion propelled the bullet through the air and is spun until it hit its target. Then the disc exploded in a blaze of glory.

“Good job. It works.”

Rune turned on the safety on the gun and placed it on the table. He wasn’t about to toss the gun as it had the possibility of exploding if it hit the ground. Kelly picked it up and unloaded the bullets.

“Can you try enchanting some more?”

“Uh… Sure?”

Then Jared and Kelly moved the table and Rune could see several types of guns. He froze as he saw all of them and the amount of rounds there were underneath. Then the two of them spoke in almost perfect harmony.

“Please enchant all of these!”
