《Beyond The Worlds[BTW]》Ch 26: Shin Vs Dreyfus - last part

The people who survived the demon attacks couldn't leave the island, because Dreyfus put up a barrier. Only people with a strength similar to or greater than the humanoid demons could break through the barrier. Shin didn't destroy the barrier, because he still needed people to stay on the island. If Shin destroyed the barrier, he was sure the leaders would run away without waiting a second.
Tiana, Alvin and Airin were watching Shin from a safe place. "Mother… the person who saved us was…"
"Yes!" Tiana confirmed Airin's words. She was sure the arrow of light was sent by Shin. Tiana thought she would lose everything at that moment, but that arrow not only saved her life, it also saved her children's lives.
"Mom… I can-" Airin was going to ask his mother something, but a female voice interrupted his words.
"Tiana, looks like you're alive." Mari appeared beside Tiana suddenly. Tiana was a little startled by the sudden call, but she was relieved when she heard Mari's voice.
"Don't show up so suddenly, Mari." Tiana complained with a helpless expression.
"Mari, could you walk slower?!" Naomi appeared with Ryuu beside her. Ryuu really didn't know how Shin managed to control this woman.
"Glad you're alright, Tiana." Naomi said with a smile.
"I'm fine thanks to Shin. I need to thank him later." Tiana replied with a weak smile. She also didn't forget to greet Ryuu.
"Hm… Miss Mari, are these people your friends?" Airin asked, looking at Naomi and Ryuu. She had seen Mari with them at the tournament, but still wanted to confirm their relationship.
"Well they are my friends and teammates." Mari replied with a smile. "Let me introduce you."
"This is Naomi Aoki. She can be a bit of an idiot at times, but she's a fun person." Mari spoke as if she knew everything about Naomi.
"Who the hell are you calling an idiot?!" Naomi yelled. The last thing she wanted to hear from Mari was the word "idiot", as this girl was simply a child in an adult body. Mari ignored Naomi and turned her gaze to Ryuu.
"That guy with the serious expression is Ryuu Yamazaki. He may look very cold, but he's a nice person." Mari introduced Ryuu to Airin; However, Airin's expression turned rigid when she saw Ryuu. She remembered the humiliating defeat she'd had. Airin wasn't angry at Ryuu, she was angry at herself.

"Nice to meet you Miss Naomi, Mr Ryuu." Airin said. Naomi and Ryuu nodded.
"Well, the last member is…" Mari looked at Shin. At first, she didn't think much of Shin as her leader, because Shin was too young and Mari thought that the position of leader would make him an arrogant person; however, she was wrong. Shin took care of all the group members very well. He taught each of them many new things, advising and guiding them on the right path.
'He can be good, bad, kind, imperative, humble, arrogant, etc.' Every part of Shin's personality intrigued Mari.
"Our last member is Shin Akash. Our leader." Mari said with a bright smile.

*SLASH!* *SLASH!*
Shin initiated an exchange of blows with Dreyfus using his water blades. His blades cut Dreyfus' arms and legs easily. Dreyfus was left with only his torso, but in the next moment his arms and legs began to regenerate.
"Shadow clone." Dreyfus created shadow clones to attack Shin.
'What an interesting technique.' Shin thought.
Too bad the clones didn't have much power, so Shin cut them all off with his blade.
*SLASH!*
"Damn! Damn! I'm going to kill you!" Dreyfus could no longer stand being cut by Shin's blades. During the fight, he didn't hit Shin once. Dreyfus pulled out the "Eye of Saturn" and looked at the island and the battlefield.
"Satur, consume the energy of the dead and demons. Make me stronger!" Dreyfus knew that the artifact was out of energy, so he used the energy of people killed on the battlefield and also sucked the energy of the demons. (Dreyfus had control over the demons).
The "Eye of Saturn" emitted a glow and began to suck energy from dead people and demons, then the energy entered Dreyfus' body, increasing his power.
"HAHAHAHA" Dreyfus started laughing like crazy when he felt his power increase. His eyes reddened, and his smile had a touch of madness.
'Is he losing his sanity?'
Shin noticed that the moment Dreyfus made his first request to get stronger, his sanity began to fade; however, the change was not so noticeable, but now Dreyfus looked much more berserker.
'Has your body limit been exceeded?' Shin speculated that the amount of energy Dreyfus consumed caused him to overdose, so he began to lose his sanity.

Dreyfus fired a beam of dark energy towards Shin. Shin sent a Lightbar and cut the beam in half.
'He got as strong as Naomi, Mari and Ryuu; However, his techniques are weaker.' Shin speculated that Dreyfus had about 85/90% of the power of the group's current members.
Dreyfus gathered a huge amount of energy and created another black sphere, but this one had 2x more power than the last one.
"HAHAHA. I'M GOING TO KILL YOU NOW!" Dreyfus threw the energy sphere towards Shin. When the sphere was close to Shin, he created a giant hand of light and crushed the black sphere. The sphere still exploded, but the power was greatly reduced.
"The fight ends here!" Shin said in an imperative tone. He decided to end the fight now, because Dreyfus couldn't offer anything else relevant to him. Shin has already gained enough battle experience to match the other members of the group, so he doesn't need Dreyfus anymore.
"Let's test the limits of your regeneration." Shin created a sphere of fire in each of his hands.
First it generated some hydrogen and compressed it to a high concentration. Then he mixed it with oxygen.
'Now…'
'Use the light element to add a purifying effect to the flame.'
Shin fused his light element into the flame. He was basically combining three elements.
*BOMM!*
A mana explosion occurred when Shin tried to combine the three elements in this way. He felt that if he succeeded at this point, it would be a discovery that could improve his magical arsenal. Shin concentrated on stabilizing and melting the mana that was getting out of hand. He also used his eyes of truth to help him. After a few seconds, the flame that was blue before became…
White. A white flame appeared in his hand. Shin was surprised by the result. He just wanted to leverage the power of his attack, but a white flame appeared out of nowhere; however, Shin sensed an absurd power coming from that flame, so he was a little excited to try it out.
"That…" Dreyfus was alarmed when this flame appeared, his instincts said that this flame was dangerous.
Shin's arms were covered in white flames. He was able to stably manipulate the flame after he successfully created it.
'It's different from a normal flame.' Shin felt that the white flame was completely different from, say, the blue flame. The blue flame is only hotter than the red flame; however, this white flame appears to have unique properties.
"You…" Dreyfus was hesitant at this point. Even though he had lost most of his sanity, his instincts still lingered.
Shin covered his body completely with white flames, giving him an angelic appearance. He concentrated the power of the flames in his hands, creating a flaming sphere. Dreyfus knew the situation was not favorable, so he mustered all his energy to create his strongest attack.
Dreyfus created a blade of dark energy. He infused all of his energy and technique into the dark blade. The blade was tens of meters long. The sky itself darkened when Dreyfus created the blade.
"BLACK DIVIDER!"
"DIE SHIN AKASH!!" Dreyfus shouted Shin's name and fired the blade towards him.
*BOMMMMMM!*
The blade's energy was simply overwhelming. Darkness seemed to engulf everything at that moment.
Shin looked at the blade with a calm expression and said, "Unfortunately for you... I still can't die."
Shin shot towards the black blade with a flaming white sphere in his hand. The black blade descended towards Shin with the intention of devouring all the light present. When Shin was close to the blade, he pointed the white flame in his direction. The size of the flame was minuscule compared to the size of the sword, but its power…
"White Hell." Shin muttered, then…
*BOMMMMMMMM!*
The white flame that was once a sphere turned into a beam of pure heat and destruction. The beam engulfed the dark blade completely and headed toward Dreyfus. Dreyfus got desperate and tried to dodge the beam, but he couldn't.
When the flame found Dreyfus' body, he felt as if his existence was being extinguished. The pain he felt was unbearable. He wanted to scream, but his vocal cords were incinerated.
'I lost in.' Dreyfus thought a little before his body was completely incinerated.
*BOMMM!*
The flame didn't stop even when Dreyfus died. It passed through all the layers of the atmosphere and headed towards space…

Peerless Hegemon
Warning: Can be quite tearjerking and depressing (or so others say). If you are weak to that and hates that kind of thing, then this story is not for you === Ye Feng lived two lives in one lifetime. First, he basked in the light of Righteousness, becoming an idol of peace and justice. Second, he trod the mired path of the Darkest Path, becoming an object of fear and death. One lifetime, Two Identities, countless experiences, still without purpose. A meaningless existence. An empty husk. In his selfishness of wanting to fill the void in him, he became the catalyst that destroyed Reality. He now controlled everything, ultimate power, uncontestable by none. But he cast it away, to be reborn anew. With a new name and a family, his goal was to understand, his place. To understand how to no longer feel empty. With his family consisting of a Reincarnated Twin Sister and Parents with inscrutable pasts, his desire was not that of grandeur. In this lifetime, he wishes not to hold power, not to gain eternal life, nor control of everything, he only wishes to live, and hopefully look at sunrise with a smile on his face. === Disclaimer: The story focuses on the Main Character’s emotional and personality growth. He is someone who is, obviously OP in some perspectives but almost crippled in others. He is not soft and does not spare anyone because it is “Bad” so expect that there would be genocide and some bloody encounters. I want this instead of just the MC’s search for life and its complication. Where Philosophy and values exist. A story where every action has proper consequences, and not everything can be conquered with a single punch (unless it can be, no need for an unnecessary complication if it can be avoided). Further Notes: This is a story that will gradually increase in word counts and become Chunkier as it progresses and will almost never be below 2000 words, but if the word count will only lengthen the chapter at the expense of a finished tale, it could and would be cut off before 2000 mark), give it a try, it won’t disappoint (I hope). And if by chance that you like it, giving a good Rating and Review will be encouraging to me and possible readers. Schedule: Monday and Friday If you want to read ahead and/or support me to creating this story, you can do it through my Patreon (link below the next chapter button.)
