When they reached their destination, both her Big brother and Weiss got confused.

“Lowell, sometimes… I dunno what’s happening in your head..”

“I second that.. We could just go on our neighbor’s house if you want to do this…”

Both of them looks at her weirdly.

“Both of you, please stop that! Teacher said that, if I want to do this, I should find a suitable one….”

Lowell started to touch it.

Qazar strongly reacted to her actions.

“Ah-?! Don’t do that!”

In return, Lowell tilted her head cutely.

“Why?”

Qazar stated things like it were facts.

“It might bite you?”

“Bite? Ah-?!”

“See? I told you so.”

Lowell looked for another one.

When she touched it, it purred as it licked her hands.

“You should’ve told me earlier that you want to do this..”

Weiss, who was looking at the blissful face of Lowell, muttered some words.

“Why?”

Lowell started to massage it, which became comfortable with her massage.

“So I could have prepared one of these.”

Weiss starts to hold a Jade Kitten upwards.

Jade Kittens are child of Jade Cats, a Low-ranked Magical Beast.

Since her Teacher advised her to start on domesticated Low-ranked beasts, she decided to approach a pet shop, which offers a wide range of domestic pets.

After her Teacher Aurel gave her a Taming Book, she studied it immediately.

Lowell learned that it is basic for Taming is by touch.

A Magical Beast is very sensitive to mana, so they would know if the person who wants to tame them was compatible to them by touch.

Other ways are fighting it and make it submit, or by making a deal, which is frequent for taming high-level magical beasts.

Weiss returned the Jade Cat to its previous place.

“You should’ve told me earlier. I could’ve prepared an infant Low-Ranked Magical Beast for you.”

“I didn’t say it earlier, but Weiss… I didn’t befriend you because of your money, you know. I just wanted us to be friends.. But I really appreciate the thought..”

“Ah.. You’re right… I’m sorry Lowell..”

Weiss looks at Lowell dejectedly. She looked towards her Big Brother, but he’s too enamored on playing with the kittens.

Look who was saying I was weird earlier…

Lowell also held up the Jade Kitten she was massaging and held it in front of Weiss.

She started to start to move both of its front paws while supporting its body with her arms.

“Don’t be sad, Master. Look at me. I’m happy!!”

“Meow~!”

The kitten starts to struggle free and after breaking free, it climbed Lowell's shoulder.

“Ah-?!”

Lowell became surprised, and Weiss took this opportunity to tease her.

“You look perfect with that kitten. You look like a miniature version of those witches of the legends. Just make that kitten black instead of jade. Hahaha!”

Weiss became to get cheerful again, but Lowell pouted cutely.

“What did you say!!!”

“Meow~!!”

The kitten jumps from Lowell's shoulder into Weiss shoulder.

It looks like it liked Weiss too…

“I shall take it.. it’s just 40 silver coins.”

Lowell still have twenty-one gold coins in her pocket.

Since her Mom and Dad told her that she can spend it whatever and wherever she wanted, she can use her mony anytime.. but because she didn’t have anything she want to buy nor anything she need since her parents provided all of it beforehand.

She also didn’t have time to stroll around the village so naturally, the gold in her pockets piled up.

Weiss held the cat while Lowell proceed towards the register.

“Sir, I want to purchase that kitten.”

The owner looks at Lowell with an uninterested face, and started to speak.

“Only people who have knowledge in Taming can tame those…”

Then he looks at the kitten.

The kitten was very obedient and climbed Lowell's shoulder again.

The owner’s face changed and looks at her with sparkling eyes.

“Little Miss, are you the one who tamed it?”

“Yes!”

“I really thought that one’s untameable. Fourteen customers already tried to tame it, but to no avail. Since you tamed it, I’ll give it to you for the half price. 20 silver for that kitten.”

“Okay! Thank you!”

Lowell gave a gold coin happily.

The owner gave 80 silver coins as change.

Both Lowell and Weiss were already outside when she noticed something.

“Look’s like we’re forgetting something.”

Weiss, who was holding the kitten, looks at me innocently.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about..”

“Meow~?”

Lowell started to think again.

“Hmm… – Ah?! Big Brother!”

Lowell saw her Big Brother, still playing with the kittens.

His hands were already full of scratches, but it looks like he’s living in his own world.

“Big Brother! Let’s go! We need to go!”

Lowell started to grab his sleeves.

“No! I don’t want to go!! I want to stay here!!”

Her Big Brother starts to hug the kittens.

Most of them scratched his face.

It looks like I don’t have any choice.

Lowell started to act like natural and smiled.

“Look, Big Brother. Mom’s outside. She said why are we aren’t home yet. You don’t want to anger Mom, don’t you?”

After hearing that his Mom’s angry, Qazar's smile started to pale.

He placed the kittens back and obediently starts to walk towards the door.

He acquired a fear to his Mom since he saw a time when Mom was angry at Dad.

Lowell once mentioned the words ‘Mom’ and ‘angry’ at the same time and his face just turned pale white.

After getting outside, he learned that what Lowell said ago was a lie, but she dragged him before he could go back inside.

It was quite a struggle since his physical power was higher than Lowell's, but he gave up in the end.

It was already noon when they finished strolling around.

Lowell's Mom said they could eat outside and gave her Big Brother their lunch money, but Lowell think it is unnecessary since the food in the restaurants are cheap.

They started to search a restaurant.

They saw one, which is inside the Market. The distance between the Pet Shop and the restaurant was near, so it only took them ten minutes before they reached it.

After eating, the trio rested for an hour then returned to roaming around the village, but before they could start roaming, her Big Brother pointed out something.

“I forgot to mention this.. but did you buy food for your Jade Kitten?”

“Ah-!”

Lowell and Weiss forgot.

The kitten wasn’t acting up right now, but if it gets hungry, it might be bad news.

The kitten in question was still sleeping in Weiss’ arms.

Her Big Brother wants to hold it, but the kitten hates him.

Lowell stood up and looked at the two boys.

“Can you guys wait here? Since its near, I’ll buy it myself.”

Qazar also stood up.

“I’ll join you, since it might be heavy for you to carry…”

“No need. I’ll only buy its food for three days. I’ll ask for father’s help later so that I could buy food stock for a month.”

I will also have problems if you get near that pet shop.

“I-I see. Take care then.”

“Thanks.”

Lowell started to walk towards the Pet Shop.

Before reaching it, Lowell saw a group of children with ages four and five ganging up on something, and when she approach them, what she saw was a very little serpent-like animal.

It was only four inches in height and two inches in width. It’s difference from snakes is.. It has two hind legs and can stand by using it. It was full of bruises and blood, as a result from stones thrown by the kids.

Lowell angrily stomped her feet, but it was cute nonetheless.

“Hey! What are you guys doing!!”

The kids didn't notice her anger and smiled happily like it was natural.

“Beautiful Sister! We’re punishing evil!”

“How’s that little thing evil?”

One of the children answered her, which looked like the leader of the group.

“Because it looked like a snake! Snakes are evil! They bite and kill people!”

The children surrounded her, and the serpent tries to run away, but it was too weak to escape faster.

It wasn’t walking in it’s two legs anymore.

It tried to escape by crawling into a nearby bush.

“Ah-?! The evil is trying to escape!!”

“Let’s kill it!!”

“Stoop!!”

Lowell walked in between the children and the serpent.

“Good children doesn’t kill any living being!”

“Even if it wants to kill us?”

“Do you think that one wants to kill you? It’s trying to escape to survive. Let him be.”

“Okay~! If Big Sister says so!”

The children obediently replied as they left the serpent alone.

After talking with Lowell for a while, the children left one by one.

When Lowell was preparing to walk towards the Pet Shop, she noticed that the serpent didn’t escape, but it crawled closer to her instead.

“Oh? What is it, poor little guy?”

Lowell looked at it with pity, but didn’t try to hold it since it might bite her.

Even if it’s injured, Lowell knew that it still could bite and inject her with venom.

She might have some ideas of creating an anti-venom because of her Chemistry knowledge, but she don’t have the ability because she lacked the apparatus to do so.

The little serpent jumps with it’s full strength towards her.

Lowell got frightened because of that, so she distanced herself away from it.

After doing so, it crawls again towards her, as if it wants Lowell to take it.

It’s pitiful, but I must remain my…

“Mew!!”

It spoke as if it was angry, but it’s too weak because it was very injured. But.

“Huh?! It mew’d? Isn’t snakes and serpents make ‘hiss’ sound instead?”

Lowell looked towards the serpent with confusion. The serpent looks at her in return.

If I disregard it’s present condition, it is beautiful because of its mixed honey-brown and dark-brown skin which looks like an Axenite gem. I don’t know why I could imagine it.. but It has a resolute expression on its face…

“What should I do… ”

Lowell felt conflicted.

When she was still deep in thought and wasn’t paying attention, it jumped again.

Now, because of reflexes, Lowell stretched out her hand to catch it because she thought it might get hurt the next time she don’t catch it.

“W-woah?!”

Now, Lowell's hands were full of the serpent’s blood. After it stabilized it’s footing, the serpent looks at Lowell with a strong will and conviction which only brave men could give.

“Hmm? -Ouch!”

It bit me. It suddenly bit me.

Lowell felt her hand was pricked by a needle.

“W-what’s happening?”

Lowell started to get dizzy. Instead of being poisoned… what she's experiencing is…

“My Mana’s being drained… Please stop…”

If this continues… I’ll faint….from mana exhaustion…

“Ugh-!”

As Lowell fell unconscious, a warm feeling enveloped her whole body.

The last thing she saw was that the serpent was rubbing its head on her cheeks as if it wants to comfort her.
