《Madness with a touch of sanity》Chapter 11: Slime, Mana
Advertisement
It has been about three weeks since last I visited town, I have started covering the walls in the faces of my prey, imps mostly, although there was the occasional goblin in the mix, I even found a humanoid skull, which I hung up like a chandelier and overcharged imp cores with mana to give it a red glow, it was cute in a way.
The provisions were lasting longer than I had anticipated, I hadn't factored in the density of the caves mana increasing when I bought them, but I didn't have to worry about anything rotting either because of that, so I just had a giant pile of food and drinks sitting to one side of the cave, minus booze, and an even larger pile of corpses at the other end of the cave, mostly missing their faces, but not yet all of them. I had stuffed all the organs from the imps into a skin couch, bed, table and other miscellaneous household items that I had made in my free time, they held some lingering warmth and they were soft for the most part.
At some point I crafted an armoured suit of imp skin, although it gave me the appearance of a giant skinny imp because of all the materials mashed together, and it clung tightly to my skin because of all the blood that I had yet to clean out, I scared a good deal of adventurers when I went out to hunt for more materials to craft my unique creations. Although on my recent trip yielded an unexpected result, an army of tiny, fingernail sized, squishy, clear blobs with slightly opaque cores.
The clear slimes hang around the cave, sticking randomly here and there, they look to be growing, but I didn't get a chance to look at them all, so I couldn't tell for certain. Since the density of mana had gotten so high, I no longer needed sleep or food, although I still had the occasional snack, and I wanted to fight something, but at the same time, it would be a bad idea to attack anyone in the town, because I might need something from them later.

The mana was also causing me to grow some, less than human, features, two small, red horn growing symmetrically on my forehead, longer and sharper claws, teeth and ears, and my pupils were starting to horizontally slit, much like a satyrs eyes, but dark red instead of yellow. My changes could be masked for now, but performing major illusion magic, like removing horns or tails, can make the spell weak, or look extremely odd, if my wings start growing in, I will have a major problem, until I reach full maturity at least.
I decided that it was finally time for me to pick up a few quests from the guild, more out of boredom than need for any rewards they could give me, although the receptionist did try to tell me something before I left last time, so I suppose that's another reason to go, that, and I want more booze.
I set off towards town, grabbing the stone at the hanging at the exit, and after walking for a few minutes, getting to the entry gates, greeting the guards, I headed into the city, leisurely looking around the stores and shops as I made my way to the guild. I saw the male human receptionist in the middle booth again, only four were working today.
"Haven't seen you in a while, finally ready to get a new job? I tried telling you last time, but you walked away before I could say anything" He seemed less distracted than before, happier even, but a new job would be cool, so i nodded yes and we were in the usual job changing room and paid the money needed.
[Hero Of Flames] [Hero Of Life] [Angelic Hero] [Hero Of Order] [Hero Of Chaos] [Hero] [Phantom Swordsman] [Fire Mage] [Terror Mage] [Cosplay Mage] [Enchanter] [Aura Fighter] [Vessel] [Scholar] [Infernal Decorator] [Brute] [Spellsword] [Magic Swordsman] [Puppeteer] [Enchantress] [Swordsman] [Priest] [Noble] [Witch] [Fighter] [Assassin] [Tamer] [Rogue] [Thief] [Water Mage] [Time Mage] [Death Mage] [Nature Mage] [Farmer]
More choices were always good, but I already decided what I wanted.
[Received skill: Enhanced Muscular Strength Lvl 1]
My muscles bulged momentarily before returning to their regular size, if a little more defined and twice as strong, if these are the classes I consider trash, what the hell do the other classes do? The human had scrambled back in surprise and stared at me in shock, before finally realising what he was doing and calmly sat back down with a crimson face, it was a few minutes before he spoke again.

"I know this is rude to ask, but what class did you pick? Or at the very least what skill did you receive? The guild will pay one hundred gold for any new skill information and a hundred more for the acquisition of said skill" he was speaking frantically, and I doubted this was a new skill, considering the class I got it from, but who would pass up free money.
"Enhanced, Muscular Strength" He seemed to have encountered an error in his processing, his whole body froze as his eyes rolled into the back of his head and his skin turned a deathly pale, I could hear his heart stop, this was a bad sign for me, people saw me go in with him. so If i just leave, I'm probably going to get the blame for this, but if I revive him, he would probably tell someone about the skill, but I would get money too, maybe even a little extra for saving his life.
And money lets me buy more booze.
I received my gold and took on a few delivery and extermination quests, including a delivery to the vampire elf, which I decided to do first.
I walked up the sloped alleyways and past the slightly destroyed white and silver houses required to get to his house and I kicked his door off its hinges, sending it flying into his house, smashing into and destroying one of the few completely intact walls, following that I heard repetitive swearing and an explosion that shattered all the windows in the house and surrounding houses, as well as a body flying out the window, hitting a few street poles and trees, and finally landing on the ground with a dull thud.
He groaned as I picked him up and threw him back into the house, afterwards placing the door loosely against its frame, I healed up his injuries, taking out all the broken glass and random bits of debris from his flesh before slapping him repeatedly until he was awake and had a very swollen face.
"Package, from, guild" I handed him the satchel whilst he was nodding and prostrating himself, then broke through the wall next to the door, making my way out and towards my next delivery location, but not before hearing him sobbing and crying like a little bitch.
I delivered the package to the next location politely, by giving it to the lady at the counter, it was a cafe, looked nice. I jumped over the city wall, and ran into the forest, I needed to find some goblins and rodents of unusual size, as it says in the request form. I spread my threads throughout the forest until I found creatures vaguely matching the description given, and decapitated all of them and having the threads drag back their left ears and faces.
Eventually I had a pile of left ears standing twice my size and a larger pile of faces, I wound the ears up into a ball of my threads and jumped back over the wall, making my way to the guild getting weird stares the whole way there. Clearly the receptionist didn't expect for me to bring them so fast, or so many, because he had another heart attack, and when I revived him, he said he needed to see the guild master, before leaving the counting and rewards to the other receptionists.
I got my money before he returned, so I left, waving goodbye to the guards at the gate and pulled all the corpses I left behind into my home to add to the pile.

The Apocalypse Show - Dungeon Core
There were lot's of ways that people had predicted that the world would end. A few even had it partially correct. But how could they have predicted it would be a combination of the system apocalypse and aliens. Specifially aliens that wanted to create the equivlant of a TV show about the system apocalypse on Earth. Arthur woke up with a headache and the option to create a character. Most people would have gone with the safe choice and selected to stay a human. Arthur suspected that wouldn't be the safe choice in his new world. Instead he decided to see what other races were available. Eventually he decided to become a dungeon core instead. Of course being a dungeon core comes with a number of challenges. Starting with the fact that he was a giant crystal instead of having a body, managing a bunch of unintelligent minons, and most importantly the reaction of his human neighbors when they discover him. If he can overcome these challenges he may be able to enjoy some of the benefits. Such as the fact that dungeon cores are immortal and he would eventually have an entire army of dungeon minions that would obey any of his commands. Perhaps even find some female companions that are looking for a safe place during the apocalypse. Warning: If this fiction was a movie I'd rate it R for occasional scenes of violence, gore, nudity, and sexual content. This isn't something you would find in the young adult section. This does not mean that this would be rated NC-17 or X, if that is what you are looking for try lewd dungeon.
