The Blood War, which countless of lives have been slain and rivers ran red from the blood of the victims. It is unlike any other war remembered; a war that had lasted for over a thousand years. Prior to the war, there were four regions and in them were made up from kingdoms. There was the Mountain Region, that stood high and proud in the north with the tallest and longest stretch of mountains ever seen. The Volcanic Region took pride in their studies and constant shift of land in the east peppered with hundreds of active volcanoes. Third was the Swamp Region, their numerous cities and familiy spread all about in the south with hundreds of miles of swamps and marshland. The final region was the Wind Region, rumored of its culture and splendor remained hidden grassy and windy plains of the west. The Swamp Region had been in general at peace with the Mountain Region for centuries, whereas had been in constant skirmish with the Volcanic Region. Tiried of the never ending tension with the Volcanic Region, they presented a treaty - a pact of peace. The conditions of peace were for the largest kingdom of the Swamp Region present a prince of royalty, so he to be wed with a princess from the largest kingdom in the Volcanic Region. This wedding would have brought the two Regions together, forging an unprecedented long lasting alliance. However, the alliance would be short-lived. On the day of the wedding, the princess and the prince never appeared. Both Regions swiftly dispatched squadrons to investigate. In the days that followed, both squadrons returned with news that broke the fledgling alliance - both carriages were ambushed and the betrothed disappeared, presumed assassinated. The kingdoms from both Regions were infuriated. They accused each other of the ambush, since they could not see eye to eye the inevitable occured - war. The truth of what really happened? It was the Mountain Region behind the attack on the carriages. The Mountain Region had been in a secret civil war for years, the rebel party won the war and placed an Empress to rule the whole Region, however ruling the Mountain Region was not end. She wanted to rule all four Regions, so a conspiracy was devised, the plan was that the Swamp and Volcanic Regions would be weakened fighting each other - their conquest would be swift. Then war intensified and have lasted over a thousand years. In the course of the war, the four Regions ceased to be known as Regions. They became Empires, and after almost a thousand years it seemed the bloodthirsty Mountain Empire was at the verge being the victors. Until a man named Electum Scientiam came across knowledge that would tilt the war into any direction. He forged swords from the elements themselves and in turn used the power of the element of which it had been forged. Electum Scientiam made eight swords in all, each with a distinguished shape and a different element implanted in it. He made Wind, Earth, Crystal, Water, Ice, Fire, Plant and Lighting blades. In this time, Electum had seven apprentices. Giving them each a blade of their own, and formed a group known as the Rings of Hope. He gave a ring bearing the *Rings of Hope* insignia to each of his apprentices. The goal of the Rings of Hope was to end the war and restore peace to the four Empires. When the Mountain Emperor had learned about the Elemental Swords and the Rings of Hope, one by one the Emperor hunted down Electum's apprentices and took their blades. Until at last Electum was captured and taken to the Ai-Kai-Ne Prison, with only two apprentices that remained.
