《Origin of death》Chapter 2: Amirel, System and Undead
Advertisement
The moment Spark disappeared soul discovered itself in the same place it was before. It started wondering if this whole discussion, deal and mysterious being were just simple illusions.
Litle it did know that right now some very interesting 'woman' was binding herself into his soul core.
Soul cores are as the name suggests the central and the most significant part of the soul. In it are stored memories, the essence and ever personality of a being.
Put differently, soul core is your very own life. If it gets destroyed, you disappear into nothingness.
After a few minutes, a woman or should I say the system successfully connects.
Hello there!
The soul gets startled. It starts looking around to find who is talking to it but unfortunately it can't find anyone.
You won't find me, I'm inside your head.
The soul is panicking. It does not know what this being wants from it.
Don't worry, Spark send me. He should have informed you that you will have a helper.
At those words, soul stopped panicking. If it had a body, it would surely sigh in relief.
Feeling that a new companion relaxed a little bit system starts talking again.
I should introduce myself. I am a System, you can call me as such. I hope we will be able to cooperate peacefully since we are going to spend a lot of time together. By the way, how can I address you?
"My name is..."
The souls start thinking. It does not remember it's own name. The reason behind is simply that no one form millions of years used it even once, so it's normal that it itself forgets about something like that. In fact, just like any other soul, it forgot everything about its life before arriving in the void.
It tries to recall its name from before it arrived inside the void. After a while of intense thinking and digging inside its memories a single word comes into its mind, which it immediately says aloud.
"...Amirel!"
At this word, if the system had a body, her eyes would go wide from shock.
'Holy fuck! It's him! To think that my lord really found him!' She starts drifting into her thoughts.
Amirel noticing that system had gone silent starts talking.
"System! Are you listening?"
Hearing him, the system gets back to reality.
Ah! Yes, I am.
"By the way, what is your name?"
I am a system! I don't have a name!
"It can't be like this. Let's think about it... how about..."
He starts thinking about a fitting name, but before he is able to think of any good ones, the system responds.

No! I don't want a name!
Amirel can't understand the meaning behind it, and he does not want to pry into her privacy, so he just changes the subject.
"Okay. So what now?"
I almost forgot! Well, we have to do two things. Decide if we make a race. The second is to create your body. The order doesn't matter
'Body? Race? What is this about? I don't know what she's even talking about.' Amirel thought and decided to ask questions.
"What body? What race?"
Calm down! We have time no need to rush. So each of the four origins can create their own race that will exist in this new world.
"I understand. Do I have any limitations?"
What Amirel thought was that if all four of them were to create their own race then Spark surely would not want one of those races to be more powerful than the other. So he was sure that he made some limitations to prevent that from happening.
There are limits, of course, but first tell me what race you want to create, then I'll tell you if it meets the requirements and if it doesn't I'll help you to balance it out.
'So a system can calculate and balance them out on the run. That means that this woman is actually extremely intelligent and knowledgable.'
With that conclusion, he started thinking about what race to create.
'Hmm... Well, that's cool, but what kind of race I'd like to do. I don't want to have any more creatures under my care because I'll still have plenty of souls anyway. Wait a minute, after all, while taking care of souls I will have to sit in the world of the dead, which means that I won't know what is happening among the living. Heh, I see...'
"Well, yes. I want to create a race whose members will be intelligent. Besides, their lifespan will be unlimited, other mortals will have a positive attitude towards them and lastly, they will subconsciously pass on to me information about their surroundings."
And are they to be good at fighting or magic??
"They may be the greatest weaklings in the world."
He didn't plan to dominate the whole world or get powerful warlords but smart information gatherers.
Naturally, the system was able to understand what he was doing.
Heh, I get it. Since you have all souls in your care and you will be locked in the realm of the dead for some time, you will make them spies in the world of the living. I like this plan, I can see that we will get along. Okay, but it's still too much so to balance them out I have to make them less fertile than others

"Deal"
This is great, but you know you don't have to create them now. You can do it later
"No problem. What's next?"
|Their appearance. How do you want them to look like?
"I don't know what other races will look like, but..."
He presents a humanoid creature with pale white skin and black irises. Pupils have different colours depending on a type of their species. They will be having different sub-species. each having different looks and specializations.
It's done. How do you want to call them?
Amirel was not able to come up with something, so he chose to let system name them.
"You decide."
The undead then.
A classic.
"Very well"
All right. One done, now your appearance!
At this point, he had remembered something that Spark told him before he disappeared.
"Spark mentioned some laws that I will have to obey."
Oh, it's good that you remind me
If he had a body, he would definitely facepalm himself at this moment.
'Spark why you gave me a 'helper' who forgets such important things.'
|Spark has created several rules that all origins must obey:
1.No fighting among themselves
2.If necessary, defend the world from outside attacks.
3.Defend the race when it is on the verge of extinction.
Besides these three, you and the rest can add, overwrite or delete new rules.|
Amirel thinks about those rules and in his own opinion that those are actually very handy and helpful so he does not have anything against them. But there is one thing that is not specified enough for him.
"So we can't even fight with each other as part of entertainment or training?"
Not, quite the opposite. It is about fighting with the will of destroying or harming one another. Spark wanted you to get along and be able to cooperate. Ultimately you will spend eternity together, so it's better to get along. The law only says you can't fight seriously with an intention to kill or something similar that is crossing the line. There is not the slightest problem in a simple training session or anything like that. Besides, if you are close to breaking any of the rules, I will warn you.
"Thanks. Well, now, to my appearance."
Tell me what you want to look like. Just like you did with your race. We will use essence that you gained during your years as a soul in that void.
From her explanation, he heard a term he does not understand and decided to ask.
"Wait. What is the essence?"
The essence is a building block of every soul. It can make your body stronger and bigger or even increase your own intelligence. But most importantly, the more you have it the stronger you are.
"How to gain more of it?"
There are a few ways, but we will talk about them later. This might be too much information given to you at a time.
"Then..."
He gives system his ideal appearance. A four-meter tall giant with a lean body and completely white skin. Besides, he has two pairs of eyes. He does not have eyeballs instead of them there is the grey-coloured pure energy of death. The whole thing gives the impression that he is able to see your soul regardless of your body or your race. He also has white spiky hair, black tattoos all over his body and a 1.5-meter long bony tail. As long as the clothing is concerned, he wears a simple black robe over his body.
Wow! Pretty intimidating, but it fits perfectly with your role as a god of death
"This is my plan. So what now?"
I'll put you to sleep
"What?"
Amirel gets confused, not knowing what she means.
The world hasn't been created yet, your body must be made using the same energy as your domains so that you won't fall apart when you use any of your abilities. Also, you still have to understand what death really is, and the same goes for your other domain, and this can only be done by being unconscious.
"Oh, I understand. And before we start, can you tell me what will happen to Spark?"
|There is nothing infinite, including energy. The place where Spark comes from has been destroyed a long time ago, so he cannot recharge his batteries, so in a few years his energy will end, and when it runs out, he will die. Therefore, he said: 'instead of waiting for the inevitable, it is better to go with a Bang and use the rest of it to create the world'|.
"Do you know what will happen to him after death?"
Hahahaha! Listen to yourself! The supreme god of death asks what is on the other side! A brilliant joke
"Ok, put me to sleep."
Not being able to bear embarrassment any longer he loses consciousness.

8 117A Prose of Years
For decades, spiritualist Evert Kallstrom and his team have joined in humanity’s millennia-long fight against the beasts. Wielding their weapons and their ki, they fought and killed these great threats to civilization. And yet, despite their efforts, humanity was losing traction in the war. In the last fifty years alone, more cities had been overrun than in all of known history. While most thought the great beasts natural, a few knew the terrible truth. They were the product of a dark lord, who desired neither fame nor wealth nor power. Instead, his sole purpose was the genocide of humanity. While their peers dithered, a small faction of the strongest mankind had to offer—including Evert Kallstrom and his team—set out towards the Deadlands to find and confront this dark lord. After weeks of travel, twenty-one spiritualists found themselves approaching an ancient fortress wherein rested a being known only as the Eastern Guardian. All they found was death. But death has other plans for Evert. Evert bolts awake in his 16 year old body near his hometown, decades in the past. He is confused, poor and weak. But with grit, sweat, and years of experience, he won't let the future repeat itself. That level of strength won't be enough by itself (it wasn’t last time) and victory is hardly assured (he’ll need to reach farther and higher than he ever did), but Evert refuses to squander a second chance. [Other tags: First Person POV, Hard Magic, Faulty Memory] Volume 1 is complete and has been fully released. My current intention is not to write any sequel volumes. That said, I have also released appendices (SPOILERS) that cover the worldbuilding and future story-that-never-was. Comments suggesting fixes for grammar, misspellings, etc. appreciated. Note: If you came here from Candlelit Lives, these stories have nothing in common.
8 148Conquest of Avalon
Revenge. The Kingdom of Avalon swept across the Empire of the Fox a generation past, conquering the heartlands and leaving the broken remnants to stew in the island duchy of Guerron. This isn't a story of Good versus Evil, of kindly kings doing their best to lift all subjects, or of unvarnished heroes doing battle against evil. Instead, this story is about power: who has it, who wants it, and what people will do to obtain it. It is about the violence inherent in the imperial project and how even the most well-intentioned rulers and conquerors are, still, engaging in systemic violence against those conquered and defeated. Our three point-of-view characters are a peasant turned fire wizard, an excitable duelist with more enthusiasm than sense, and a scheming mage-priestess bent on reclaiming her family's birthright and waging war on the foreign oppressors who rule her home... no matter the cost in blood or treasure.
