《My job and adventure as a Technomancer》Chapter 8. A Short Fight

"...I didn't expect them to deal with my those droids so easily. Do they have a powerful individual by there side? To think they got rid of them so quickly that my droids couldn't even capture it with its camera and not even a glimpse of it. Though...is this an amazing feet?"
Alduin was currently questioning how he should think of this. Just before, the droids had easily dealt with various other humans and it wasn't difficult to do so. However, someone swiftly destroyed his droid fairly swiftly. Could this be considered amazing? Alduin doesn't even have the knowledge of the standards of strength in this world, so it is not easy to determine this.
Compared to the first droid, Alduin had added more passives onto those flying machines like damage reductions and regeneration for survivability. So it was a better version of the first droid.
"Master, what should we do now. Would you make more of those [droids ] or do you desire me to get rid of them myself? I believe if I do this alone, it would not take much time.”
Slyphia stated her question and opinion while Elaria also stared at him, awaiting what decision would he decide. He is pretty much the leader of this operation, so it is a matter of course that he should make the decisions. Without him, the operation to save Elaria’s people wouldn’t have even started or exist.
" Hmmm...I am quite intrigue with whoever killed my minions. There is also the fact I want to experience what ‘Real Combat’ would feel like and get a better understanding of it. Though I could also deal with this problem by making the droids stronger, there might be a time where I might not have such luxury. So simply put, we are going in.”
He looks ahead at gazed at the forest, then turns to Elaria.
“Before that though, after giving some thought to it, the barrier from the start wasn’t even an issue to us. Slyphia and I can bypass it with no trouble, and as for you," he reached into his inventory and took out an emerald ring and tossed it to Elaria.
“Wear this, it should protect you from detection spells thus allowing you to pass the barrier without being concerned with having to be discovered. Also, it should give you protection from most enemy attacks whether they may be magical or physical. Well, it also have some recovery effects so I assure your safety for now."
The emerald ring possesses [Magic Resist V] [Physical Resist V] [Health+Mana Regen] [Anti-Detection] [Elemental Resistance]. Since Alduin had personally saved Elaria and even accepted her request which had nothing much in it for him, at the very least he should protect her. When Alduin decides something, he will finish it thoroughly to the end. Unless, of course, he felt he needs to ‘change’ a few things when it becomes inconvenient for him.
Elaria caught surprised by the sudden action, moved both of her hands to catch the ring while it was in the air. Catching it, she looks closer it and activated [Item Appraisal]. What came to her mind was nothing. There wasn’t any information. This shows her mastery over this ability isn’t very high, or the ring given to her for this incident is too ‘high-level’ for her to identify.
Although she used [Item Appraisal] to gauge out the effects of the ring out of curiosity, there wasn’t any notifications that tells her such effects conveniently like Alduin. It was more of a intuitive feeling.

Elaria was astonished that Alduin had such a ring. If what he said is true, then this ring is could be one of the legendary relic items of the past, if not comparable to it. An Enchanter could usually imbue such effects onto accessories, weapons, and clothing, but those effects only lasted for a certain period of time before losing its effectiveness.
It was very known in the past, the ancestors of this world, including elves and other sentient races, were all significantly powerful without doubt according to history. They had technology which the present date can't even replicate. For some odd reason, that boom of technology soon came to an end along with the downfall of it. Many historians tried to come up with a sufficient theory to explain this event, but the declining numbers of powerful figures and technology began plummeting down. It is difficult to explain this.
Anyways, those relics of the pass could change how a person can live for the rest of their lives and also gain huge amounts of fame and wealth.
Usually these relics can be found in ruins or dungeons. The ruins were buildings that have fell apart through time and are leftovers of the past, but it is not often you could discover treasures in there. Occasionally yes. More often were the times they were found in dungeons, mysterious underground labyrinths with a certain number of floors varying from each other. Each floor would have one boss while the dungeon boss inside would be the strongest out of all the monsters inside it. Every boss floor when defeated and killed, could get riches that could let a person live in luxury for a couple of years. As long as he or she doesn't intend to share the riches with the others.
The dungeon boss would give the same, but many times the amount along with a relic item. Its effects could go from weapons of destruction, armor, accessories, or objects that could create water out of nothing.
It was highly soughted for.
However, there wasn’t much intel regarding those dungeons. It was a complete mystery how they were designed and created. But if it is about getting rich the quickest and hardest way which your life may be threatened, the dungeon is the answer.
Elaria puts on the ring and an odd feeling surged forth from the ring and into her. It was as if she felt less vulnerable. For some reason, she felt safer. She knew it was the ring given to her by him. She never felt so secured before. Even while being embraced by her mother as a child didn’t give off such a feeling.
“Alright you two, I don’t actually have any experience in tactics in the battlefield, so there won’t be any plans. The only thing is to kill of all the humans. If they say something like they have children and a family, just kill them. In the end, it is either you or them.”
Actually, this was more directed to Elaria. Since Alduin had experienced many ideas in his former world, he once knew a couple of people who seems to have decided on something, but halfway they lost their resolve to complete it. Like a Hero in a story unable to kill another person. It is quite irritating.
However, Elaria had already long have that resolve. Afterall, she knew what was more important to her. Forget those who say they have a family, does it hold that much significance?
After that, they dashed into the dark forest.

Not long after, a group can be seen within this forest. 6 men wearing clothes similar to the C-squad. But unfortunately for them, Slyphia immediately decapitate their heads off their bodies and soon slumped down with red liquid flowing out of their opened necks.
This continued on several times and the 3 began to notice a slight change in their encounters. It seems the groups they are encountering are reorganizing themselves and began to surround them more efficiently. With that, barrage of arrows and mana bolts were thrown at the 3.
The expedition had no longer have any thoughts of capturing the S-marked elf. It was ordered by Krox to eliminate them. The elf may have been highly soughted for and increase her worth, but compared to losing their lives, it wasn’t worth it in anyway.
Even though all the members know for the fact what they are doing right now is getting themselves killed, they have all sworn to the founders of Floradial they would execute all their orders until completion or if decided by the leader of the group it was impossible. Whether or not it may seem impossible, they would do it until the leader decides it so. Afterall, the benefits of being in Floradial, who could match to any other Kingdom or even overpower them, reflects on their jobs.
---------
After some time, they crossed upon before a particular group. There were all very well built and there bodies were filled with scars, displaying the experiences they went through in the past. There was one person who got the attention of Slyphia though. It was one with a larger frame than the others along with him, holding a Giant Sword. As a combatant, she could gauge out a person’s strength while using her passive abilities to learn of the person’s strength and weaknesses.
Very quickly, she determined he was may possibly be the strongest out of all the humans they so far encountered. The other men nearby him pales in comparison. The leader, she assume, wouldn’t give her much difficulty and deduced she could end him in a few swoops. If the leader was down, the rest would also soon fall.
“Master, the one with the large sword is the leader. If you order it, I shall decapitate him swiftly.”
Slyphia wants to confirm with her Master before going ahead. If wasn’t wise for her to immediately take actions before making sure her Master permits her too. If she were to do so and end up not pleasing up, she wouldn’t want her Master to feel upset and disappointed in her.
“Oh? That guy is the leader Slyphia? If that is so, leave that guy and the group with him to me. For the rest, you and Elaria may deal with them. For this man, I want to get a bit of experience.”
After confirming with him, she turns to the elf.
“You heard Master, we will take on the rest.”
“Eh? Wait, but isn’t that too much?”
Elaria had a puzzled face, but she did so as she was told. It wasn’t smart to have an argument in the middle of battle.
The two then turns to another direction and went on their way reducing the numbers of enemies while going to the supposed captured elves location.
Alduin after seeing them off for a moment, turns his head. His robe fluttered as the wind passes through him.
“‘Should I say it is a very good night today men?’ or should I say, ‘Greetings.”
The group of 13 including the leader, stares at Alduin with cautious eyes.
Unknown to Alduin;however, what they felt from the Slyphia could easily rival one of their leaders in their organization, but with their enhanced hearing and senses after going through many dangerous encounters, they could hear that girl called this man “Master”. It was weird enough such a young girl that looks 16 could rival one of the top powers in the human race, but calling someone who doesn’t even have any threatening feeling or intimidation, is very unusual. They didn’t even attempt to stop her as they were startled from that fact of recognizing this man before her as her Master.
The reason they barely felt anything from Alduin was 1) His ring containing thousands of abilities have one that conceals his power level. 2) He wasn’t a combatant. Every combatant had a passive skill that gives of their power level or how powerful they are, but he or she may decide if they want to emit it.
“Greetings Masked Man, I am the leader of this group you and your party have been slaughtering, Krox Jaybon, may you enlighten us with your sudden visit?”
Krox was currently putting up a front. Inside he was very nervous. To think such a young girl a few moments ago was so powerful. It is safe to assume this Master is actually a lot stronger than that young girl.
‘God Dammit, right now my men are dying and we had an unexpected factor in front of us’.
Having one monster here is bad enough but 2 is total annihilation.
Alduin raised his hand to them,”Well, you see, it is just too waste some time. Though there is another objective for me to do this, and that is get a better view of this world. You men I consider to be useful in this aspect. Also, it is for the sake of ‘experience’ in which I’m lacking.”
Krox stares at him while he could feel his sweat on his back.
“Then, I’m sure you can find more suitable test subjects somewhere else. Why does have to be us?”
“...It just so happens to be. That’s all.”
Alduin gives a shrug.
One man next to Krox stepped up and pointed his steel sword at Alduin.
“You dare talk down on us! Who do you think you are?!”
Krox turns his gaze to the shouting man emitted bloodlust.
Feeling this, the man instantly backed up while shaking.
Krox didn’t want to offend the ‘Master of a monster.” Who knows if the masked man is actually hiding his power.
“ ~Ahhh, actually, I wonder why i’m even talking to you guys anyway. That wasn’t even my objective today anyway.”
The masked man talks to himself and after uttering the last word, he dashed quickly towards the nearest guy to him. It was so fast it might even be considered teleportation to a person who didn’t know any better.
Alduin stops just before smashing into him, and made an upperfist punch, swinging his arm from below to the man’s jaw. Hitting it, Alduin felt the smashing of bones as his fist continues going upward. The man’s body flew up into the air spinning backwards and struck the tree, then falls down onto the ground with a huge *splat*.
“In Battle Formation!” Krox yells, but to no avail.
Alduin was to fast for them to react, much less see. For 2nd person, he rotates his body and uses his elbow area and instantly made the 2nd man flying in another direction and also smashed into another hard tree. His face concave inwards and it was truly a horrible sight to look at. However to Alduin, it doesn’t make a difference to him. This was for the sake of ‘test’ and ‘experience’ and ‘time-killing’. Killing others may only at most make him feel disgusted, from the guts and exposed flesh and bone. That is pretty much it. His behavior may be one that could be considered of a teen with too much power, but he wouldn’t go too far with his actions.
At least he wouldn’t hurt those who shouldn’t even deserve it.
After finishing off his 5th one, Krox the leader, also engaged in combat with him.
‘Let’s see how strong this leader is. It would give me a better image of the strongest in this world if I also knew what his rank in this world is too. It would help me feel more at ease here’
Although he thought of this, he didn’t expect the leader to be way more than what he had imagined. For just a moment he saw Krox, the next moment he disappears.
‘Where?’
Suddenly Alduin felt something on his waist, and it pushes him across the forest with high amounts of fore. He began spinning around in mid air and hits upon another tree after smashing through the previous one. He scraped across the ground while trying to maintain balance once he had his two feet on the ground, but before long Krox once again appears before him.
‘Twin Folding Smasher!’ Krox screamed within his head as his sword descends upon Alduin while 2 other men were casting binding spells onto him.
Unfortunately, restriction spells were completely ineffective against Alduin, but the sword was still continuing to descend down, but looking at it closer, there actually seems to be another Giant Sword coming over him, and hits his head.
*Boom!*
Alduin’s face hits the ground as he utters “~Gahhhhh~!”
However, it wasn’t finished yet.
Another man appears on top of Alduin he was laying on the ground with his face on the ground, and stabs into Alduin’s neck and where the part of the spine is located.
It went through Alduin’s neck…
“”””””.....””””””
“.Despite losing some of ours....I...sort of expected more?…”
“...Yeah…”
“...How is this guy even the Master of that girl? He went down to easily?”
They all are currently thinking how could someone like this mask man could be the Master of Slyphia. It was known to them she could easily dealt with them if she decided too while they may have some slim chance of survival if Krox class was to in effect. But Alduin had only at most give a scare. Krox was able to slightly see Alduin even though his speed was off the charts and using his intuition and instinct, could predict where he would go next.
However, if Alduin was actually had a class with the purpose of fighting, it would have been way different. His Technomancer was to create things afterall. He could add abilities towards his clothing and accessories, but he is still a beginner in ‘fighting’.
“..Oh God, this is not what I expected.”
“”””””.....””””””
“What the?”
Alduin rolls on the ground and quickly got the guy who stabbed him off as he jumped off the ground and got back into his standing posture.
He then brought out G-1.
“I guess I can forget about doing this shit. I might as well be the Creator and have my minions deal with this for me when the issue arises.”
Despite being stabbed through the neck and being barraged with Krox’s attacks, there was no damage on Alduin. At most, his clothes were dirty from rolling on the ground.
“Hahaha, why are you all surprised. Well, it should be the normal reaction for you guys anyway.”
Pointing his G-1 at the survivors, “ I apologize, but I think this is where I should say farewell. At first I wanted to gain this ‘experience’, but it seems more than what I had thought. I guess it is best for me to stick with my ranged weapons and shoot in a safe distance.”
“Well, then byeeeee, Guuhuh~.” Mid sentence, Alduin was again shot off.
Krox can be seen continuously swinging his sword at Alduin. Trying to see if there were anywhere he can hit to keep Alduin down. To be able to survive being hit on the head with a Relic Weapon which had the effects of [Defence Smash] [Increase Damage Output 150%] [Crush] [Projectile Defence].
With[Defence Smashing], [Increase Damage output] and [Crush], anyone, even the top 10 would feel something. Afterall, Relic Weapons aren’t to look down upon, especially when a Demonic Berserker was to use it.
As Krox was about to again swing his Giant Sword again, the next moment, he sees himself sprawled on the floor while coughing up blood.
‘Huh?’
Krox eyes widens. He is feeling pain all over his body while his skin was slightly blackened. The armor he had worn was cracked into pieces.
This is due to Alduin using ‘Time-Slower’, but he had to use 3 seconds to get up from his rolling momentum, and 1 second to look where Krox was located. If it wasn’t to that, if he used ‘Time-Slower’ and used all that time to shoot at Krox, he would have been dead.
“Grrhhhh.” Krox was groaning from the pain, but he immediately got up as his instinct again screams at him to jump to the side. Doing it, a bullet hits onto the ground and an explosion occurred blowing Krox into the air and smashing into the ground soon after.
‘What the hell was that?’
It was understandable if it was a fireball made from a magician or spellcaster, but the only thing he saw from the masked man was holding a gun constructed with silver metal of a sort. But how was that able to make an explosion?
‘Fuck! I need to retreat! This is almost no information regarding these two and that object he is holding may also be a Relic of the past. I must report this to HQ.’
He looks at the coming members of his group and yells at them, “Retreat! Everyone Retreat! Report to Everyone they are to withdraw! Forget about the elves! There is no hope!”
After that he decided to use his teleportation device that could only teleport one person into another location. It was a one-use-item. It makes him feel guilty in leaving behind his subordinates, but reporting to HQ takes priority over this. At least he could give them their last order to save themselves.
Breaking the teleportation device he took out from his inter dimensional ring, he vanished into thin air.
--
Alduin seeing the leader disappearing out of nowhere, thought
“Oh. Oh this is bad.”
He knew exactly what may happen. The leader of this group may have decided that staying on longer is too dangerous and decided to tell everyone to retreat. This of course is very bad for him. He could picture a scenario of the leader named Krox reporting to his superior’s and telling them everything what had transpired.
“Well, this really fucking sucks.”
He turns to the rest of the men who had only just recently received that message.
It seems it had taken some time for them to register the information into their head.
‘Time-Slower’.
The area turns grey as time slows down slow enough that it looks like time-stopped instead. Quickly aiming at the rest of the men and shooting a dozen of bullets, Time-Slower lost its effect after 5 seconds and multiple explosions can be heard.
Using his Radar programmed into his mask, the enemy is dead.
“To think I had to use this ability 2 times in a roll for one day.” Alduin mutters to himself.
He then walks towards the other two location.
‘I think they should be finished by now.’

Heroes aren’t to be trusted. They aren’t to be revered, or to be praised. They are to be feared, no matter the good they do, or the justice they seem to embody. Because it’s all a lie, a fabrication to make you believe that Heroes exist. Heroes don’t exist, only humans. And there is no scarier monster than a human with a ‘link’. Yet, what happens when someone tries to be a hero? A real, true hero—fighting to protect the world from those of their own who wantonly dominate and rule? Can a world, betrayed so thoroughly, ever truly want to be saved? This is a Superhero Fantasy story, set in a world that fears those called Linked. This story is also reminiscent of others in the genre like Worm by Wildblow.

When people mention fantasy games and RPGs, they usually think of goblins, elves, orcs, dwarves and magic (apart from the percentage that gets an image of an anti-tank weapon in their mind, I will respectfully put those individuals aside for now). But what if you get neither of those (not even the weapon, I know, sad)? And what if you end up playing as something that doesn't look like an animal at all? And what if the said game you were playing weren't actually a game, but real life changed by irresponsible, beyond-mortal beings? Follow the (mis)adventures of "player" 13241, a.k.a. Treant, as he experiences what it's like to be a walking magical fruit maker (among other things). When the world goes to hell and back, plants are the ones that remain, right?
8 99Cursed Forest
This is a high fantasy story with horror elements, featuring the map-maker and half-elf Aspen, and his friend Sekafi, a hyena-like humanoid as they are sent on a mission to map out unknown territory and encounter a monster. Soon they're involved in something larger and more dangerous than they ever wanted. What happens next, you'll find out when you read. This is the first story I'm publishing here on RoyalRoad. I wanted to try this site out since it's more geared towards fantasy. I've been at Wattpad for about 2 years under the same name, but since I'm not writing romance I haven't gotten much steam there. This is my latest story, and it's also published on Wattpad in the book called Short Stories. I wanted to start with something new and unfinished here. I'll try and update at least once every other week, sometimes more often. ~RiisingNovels
