《The war of the Gods》Reece (part 2)

With the wind on his face and the city wizzing past him, Reece held tight to Jason as they made their way to the two bedroom appartment Jason shared with his older brother Jamie. Curiosity got the better of him. "Who were those guys back there?" The burning question came tumbling from his lips.
"How did you manage to fight them all off by yourself?" Jason called back fighting the sound of the wind in their ears.
"I asked you first." Reece countered with a smirk on his face.
"Some guys that saw me feed." Jason shrugged it off.
"Hunters." Reece admonished. "You know you are not allowed to feed publicly. It's against the law. Do you want to be chipped?" Any supernaturals caught feeding publicly or acting dangerously will be chipped and tracked. It was like a death sentence and you only got one shot. Any accidental turning for shifters or a mutant human losing control of her powers or even a vampire unable to control their bloodlust was automatically rounded up and chipped. The second time they did something they were not supposed to, the got a bullet. It kept every Supernatural in line afraid for their life.
"I'm already chipped." Jason mumbled but the wind made it hard for Reece to hear.
"What?" Reece had to be sure he heard that correctly.
"Nothing." Jason pulled his Harley into the spot next to Conner's Sazuki. The harley was a classic that had belonged to Mr Lane. It was a beautiful beast that Jason fawned over and though Jason had been and still was quite the delinquent in the family, a dark family secret being revealed made the bike a guilt gift on his 18th birthday. They got inside and on the way to the door Reece continued his lecture.

"You need to be more careful. Things are different now. You're a Supe and they won't go easy on you now that you're an adult."
"Can you please stop? I don't need you hounding me too." Jason growled. Conner kept his head down, steering clear of the argument.
Jason unlocked the door and entered only to find Jamie sitting at the kitchen counter nursing a cup of black coffee. The moment they entered, Jamie looked up, his eyes red. Reece gasped and moved over to his friend, a hand on his shoulder.
"You've been crying. What's wrong?" Jamie's teary beautiful light blue eyes were red. He's been crying a lot. Something bad had happened.
"I've also been messaging both you and Jason... all night. It's 3 am! Where were you?" The question was tainted with pain. Jason moved passed them to grab two cold beers from the fridge, popped them open and handed one to Conner. The apartment was modest, clean but lived in. Jamie was a meticulous cleaner and a mother hen to family and friends most of the time. He was the perfect little housewife and also liked looking after himself as well as the household. His thick black curls were always conditioned. His skin was flawless and he had well defined muscles practically everywhere. He was the perfect package. Where Reece was thin and delicate because of his years of ballet training, Jamie worked hard on the football pitch in highschool and was the captain winning them three nationals back in Tennessee.
Jason was more of the emo kid back in school. He ran with the wrong crowd but he made sure to always have Conner as his personal body gaurd. Conner was fit and goodlooking but socially inept. He had thin green eyes, chubby cheeks and thin lips. His hair was a mess of tiny curls that framed his face always making him look unkept. They say that you had a born family and a chosen family. They had all chosen each other as their chosen family.

"I'm sorry. I was at Fuego and I lost track of time." Reece pulled out his phone to try and check his messages. He found at least 5 messages from Apollo.
"Dad and mom died in a car accident." Reece's breath caught and he lowered his phone then wrapped his arms around Jamie hugging him.
"I'm so sorry." The Lanes were an amazing couple who believed in encouraging their children to live out their dreams. When Jamie came out to them, they threw a coming out party for him with close friends and family. When Jason ended up in Juvie, they visited every day to bring him and Conner home cooked meals. When Jacob showed an interest in Photography, they bought him all the equipment he would need to pursue his dreams and even built him a dark room outside in the shed. They always celebrated Reece's birthday at his house and that of his two twin sisters. They were the kind of parents that truly cared. Reece's eyes teared up and he blinked to clear them.
"At least I won't have to celebrate a coming out Supe party." Jason quipped. Jamie and Reece both pulled from their hug and frowned at him.
"Why do you have blood on your face? Jason! Jacob is coming in a few days and you will not turn him into a delinquent like you. You will change! Or you will leave!" Jamie screamed getting up from his seat. Jason's eyes narrowed. There was silence as they challenged one another for a few tense moments then Jason shrugged. "Have it your way..." Jason headed for his room and Conner attempted to follow like the lost puppy he was.
"Goodnight Conner." Jason called over his shoulder making Conner stop in his tracks and blink. The boy was not the brightest spark but he tried to be there for his friend as much as he could.
"Grab the couch, Conner. I made some lasagna if you get hungry." Jamie got to his feet to follow Jason but Reece put a hand on his shoulder, tears still running down his cheeks.
"I'll speak to him." Reece offered and Jamie reached over to grab a tissue offering it to Reece then they embraced again.

Legends of Balarel - A Leisurely LitRPG
Glenn Redwood has longed to become an Adventurer since he was a young boy, and has focused every waking moment on that goal since turning 14. Answering the challenge of the Gods of Balarel, he has fought Monsters, Leveled, and grown stronger. Yet the day before his 16th birthday, the day he will earn his dream or lose it forever ... the Gods have made a wager. And no mere mortal wishes to draw the attention of the Gods. ***** This is my crack at writing a leisurely LitRPG. My focus is more on telling interesting stories set in a world where people live under a MMORPG-like ruleset enforced by the Gods, and less on writing another story where the MC gets massive stat boosts every chapter before heading off to wreck the world. There will be plenty of blue tables (it’s LitRPG!) but my Adventurers are just starting out. This fic is about the journey, not the destination, so expect everyone to Level ... leisurely. Updates: M-T-W-Th. I’ll post 3000-4000 words a day, or 12000-15000 words a week. If this posting pace ends up being too much for me, I reserve the right to slow posts down a bit. Inspirations: Blessed Time (Royal Road) Is It Wrong To Try To Pick Up Girls In a Dungeon? (Anime) Trails in the Sky (JRPG Series) MC: My MC is a genuinely good person who’s both a talented warrior and tactically savvy. He prefers to solve problems without violence but will resort to force if necessary to protect his friends or innocent people. I’m tired of stories starring anti-hero MCs facing endless doom and gloom, so I wanted to write a nice guy with an adventurous spirit who helps people in a thriving fantasy world. That’s all.
