《Friends of Chaos : The End of an Empire》Chapter 4: The Ambush

As the group looked at each other they noticed that Kaze was asleep. "Is this really the time for a nap now is it sir Kaze? " Ikkus said with a slight snarl, as the Dust-Crawlers inching closer, cries becoming more aggressive. “Ikkus, do you know any healing spells or energy boosts,” Imikamaru asked Ikkus. Kaze just sat there asleep as everyone was freaking out. "I've got Soul Touch, that can do the trick. " Ikkus grumbled, "Maybe even Word of Charm can do, perhaps order him around a bit. Yet, they're starting to circle us now, so it'll need to be quick." “Just make it quick. I have something I can do to stop them,” Imikamaru suggested. As the others communicated, Kaze just sat there like a dead log.
A sudden ear splitting ragged roar howled through the valley, as the more brave Crawlers charged towards them "On second thought, we may not have time…" “Ikkus, it might be all up to you,” Imikamaru said. Just then kaze woke up and surrounded the group with a radioactive liquid stopping the persuaders. "Ah, now you're awake, " Ikkus griped, "Thanks then, for trapping us in a ring of corrosive acid you genius…" “Since we’re protected for now, can you heal me,” Imikamaru asked. "Sorry it was short notice, now I'm going back to sleep,'' Kaze said drifting off. "Mhmm…" Ikkus huffed, a few Soul Touch spells later the crew was healed up from the rough impact, now they just need a way out without the Crawlers devouring them, "I can fly and lead them away, then you two can go the other way." “No need, I got this,” Imikamaru stated, “ETERNAL MANGEKYO SHARINGAN!” (The Sharingan is an ocular jutsu that grants the user the ability to mimic and predict an opponents’ moves. The Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan EMS for short is the most powerful of this type of jutsu.)

Kaze let out a big yawn. Just then the acid spread like a wild fire engulfing everything from trees to rocks, and even the Dust-Crawlers, leveling a 200 ft radius around them. "...Or that can do…"Ikkus muttered, "Ah, well guess we shouldn't stick around any longer before things go wrong again as they always do.." “Man, I’ve been wanting to use this for a while,” Imikamaru whined, “Can we please stay?”
Kaze Just waved his hand and the ocean of acsid receded. Sighing, Ikkus muttered under their breath cursing their partners, "Sure, fine. Not like we have anything important to do." “Alright let's do this,” Imikamaru muttered, as he charged at a group of Crawlers with a chidori, A ball of pure electric style chakra, in hand. “Take this,” Imikamaru yelled. Then the walkers blasted away as they were burnt with the electricity. Kaze got up and just started walking towards the forest leaving the two fighting.

Please note: the Sexual Content tag is there due to a single brief plot-relevant scene, which has a warning at the beginning. For other details, read the full description below. Rating breakdown, since that should be public info: 5 x 5*, 2 x 4.5*, 1 x 0.5* During a blackout, a frail and ragged old woman stops to ask for a glass of water from a backyard barbecue party. Given a good supper instead, she looks around the group, and tells them, "Be who and what you truly are." Days later, seven of the people from the barbecue find themselves drawn into a trap laid by a pair of wizards and their accomplices, who kidnap them into a bubble reality. All seven, who have known each other all their lives, are informed that they are not in fact entirely human: they have active fae blood, due to a series of conditions culminating with the blessing of the elderly fae woman. The transformation into fae form comes as a shock: all seven, whether originally female or male, find themselves now unreasonably beautiful women. More urgent even than that, though, is their captivity. Getting back to the real world is a higher priority than this metamorphosis that rapidly begins to feel natural... but this is only the first step, as the diverse types of fae blood they carry begin to surface. With no resources except themselves, how can they escape this prison? If they succeed, how can they possibly reclaim their lives? Just how many other faelings have been kidnapped, anyway, and what happened to them? And is there a way to make sure that their captors never put anyone else through this? Back in the real world, Kayla, who learned long ago to trust her gut instincts, is absolutely certain that something is very wrong. The pattern in the list of missing friends is easy to spot, but makes no sense at all. Then a young woman turns up at the backyard gate who knows more than she should, and even though her explanation makes even less sense, every instinct tells Kayla that Riley is her only way to get them back. If they're not quite what they were, well, that's a bridge to cross later... Just a little note: I'm a big believer in endings that are upbeat but not candy-coated, and not a fan of grim-and-gritty or of glamorized violence. These are adults in a difficult situation. However, no one gets raped, and the physical violence is, all things considered, fairly minimal. There is some harassment, sexual and otherwise, and also some mild restraint and mild verbal abuse. Complicating factors are generally wizardly or fae in nature. If I need to warn you about gender in this being all over the map, some of it reality-based rather than fantasy-based, highly diverse sexuality, or that there is (especially later) some indirect fetish/BDSM imagery and honest character discussion, then you probably should just avoid everything I write. :-) Also available on Scribble Hub.

The case is thoroughly investigated, irrefutable evidence gathered, and a manhunt for the killer begins. The only problem? The investigators don’t seek to restore peace – they seek to justify war. As many people’s fates get entangled by the crime, who can say which ones the chaos will reap? [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Release Schedule Chapters will be released once per week, though I've not yet decided on a specific day. Regardless, there shouldn't be more than seven days between chapters, but should that be the case, I'll state it in the post author note. Severed Fates, book 1 of EOTSG A multiple POV fantasy set in the future. This book will feature elements of space travel and advanced technology, but not too much, and the main focus will be on the characters as they strive to achieve their goals. All feedback is appreciated because it'll help me improve the story.
