《The Final Dream》Chapter 9

You approach the man that is pacing impatiently. Thaisen Moore is a medium-build human with light brown hair. There are signs of aging in his mustache and beard, and grey hairs reveal themselves. He looks like a scholar of some kind but is avoiding all eye contact with the crime scene itself. He instead deems it safe to peer at it through the art of Garhal Diamondgleam.
His green eyes look weary but calculating as they seem to absorb every detail about the elven man’s picture. He is lips are the thing that draw your attention though. They seem to be twisting in confusion as if they are unaware of what expression they should have. A war on his face between if he should smile, frown, look disgusted, or stay neutral.
Tapping him on the shoulder, he turns to you in surprise. “Excuse me,” he exclaims. “Can I help you?! Citizens should wait over there!”
Before he can calls to Walter Bronx, you inform him that you are the investigator from the Order of Chaos.
His eyes go from surprise and fear and relax to admiration and wonder. “Are you a Royal Insanguinator?” he inquires.
You tell him that you could be after this case. Royal Insanguinator is the highest class of investigators within the Order. They do have permission to kill all those they feel are a threat to the balance of the gods and they have proven themselves to be able to do as such. You believe Lady Alcina told you not to kill anyone but the murder as a way of testing your ability to judge friend from foe learn who tips the scales more in one god’s favour than others.
“A pity,” frowns Thaisen. “I have heard great things about them and I was kind of hoping they would send one. I am growing tired of all these bodies piling up and now they are being formed into grotesque displays.”

Moore begins to look squeamish. You give a few comforting words.
“Thanks but fear more corpses will grow while you investigate. Is this really what the Order, and therefore gods want?” A look of displeasure encompasses the man’s face. He doesn’t hide it at all.
“Well, I suggest you finish examining the crime scene quickly so that I can do my job,” demands Thaisen. “The sooner I can finish this, the quicker I can try to drink away the horror of this.”
Acquired Clue: Possible Alcoholic
Thaisen Moore, Alderbrand’s mortician, claims to drink due to the horrors of these murders. Your keen nose didn’t detect any booze lingering on his clothes or breath, but if he does drink as often as you think then the man might be sloppy with his work.
*WARNING* Once you have picked an option, you can not come back to change your option.
You walk away from Thaisen and choose to:
Talk to Garhal Diamondgleam , go to Chapter 8
Investigate the crime scene, go to Chapter 10
You can perform an Insight Check.
-If you roll a 1-10 you learn nothing of note.
-If you roll an 11-20 you can talk to Moore a bit more about his drinking habits, go to Chapter 16.
-If you roll a 21 or over then you can go to Chapter 17.
If you have already gone to Chapters 9 and 10 then go to Chapter TBA.

An Advance in Time
In the year 2050, nanotech was invented that allowed humanity to do what it does best: ignore reality. Jason was a project manager at Razor, Inc. where those simulations were crafted and improved every day. That is, until an accident with a power outage and a poorly-coded backup protocol saw his consciousness transferred to a server and his body in a coma for the foreseeable future. With the corporate vultures circling around what they see as a new piece of company software, Jason finds himself in one of the simulations he used to design. If you enjoy kingdom-building, strategy, technological progression and big challenges, you’ll likely enjoy An Advance In Time. I can’t wait to see where this goes, and can’t wait for the next update!” - Reddit user “Solid prose and an interesting start... I’m always a sucker for industrialization, so I think I’ll be watching this.” - Reddit user “The story is just the type of story I love reading.” -RoyalRoad reviewer Discord server: https://discord.gg/aRQNgR7 [A WINNER of the Royal Road Writathon challenge]
8 236Everyone is a Superhero! Apart from me
Welcome to Loktharma, where everybody is a superhero from birth. That makes Eugene De Lavet the most special of them all. At eighteen years old, he still has no clue what his superpower is. Loktharma has never been a fair world. There are Worldbreakers who were born to brandish the power of the universe, warp time-space, destroy lands and continents. There are Craftmasters who control the elements and terrorize countries with their might and wits. There are Commoners who are only gifted with power for the finer arts, architecture, military arts, or small-scale elemental manipulation. Even in an unjust world like Loktharma, there is always one constant: everyone is assigned a Flair since birth; the power to do something extraordinary. And then there's Eugene. He's been running around in a secluded forest since birth, training and sparring his ass off. While he can wield a blade better than most at his age, he certainly can't throw a giant boulder using the power of his mind, or turn his skin into diamonds. He has no Flair, no purpose for leveling up his stats, and no idea why General Rizeni Baggardo keeps him confined inside a forest for eighteen years. At least until Lord Pyro—the Craftmaster of Tailiah—unleashes his fury on the forest, searching for a treasure Eugene doesn't even know exists. On a frantic escape for his life, Eugene starts to realize he was a part of something he's been completely oblivious to until now. Along with his companions, Melodi and Azra, he travels the land and unveils the secrets of the world. [The story will be told primarily through the lenses of three main characters, with occasional side character POV chapters. It also draws inspiration from Japanese shounen. So only proceed if you're cool with these aspects.]

*Not good for kids under 18. Gore and such. I mean it. Unless you can handle it. I can. I'm the author.* Have you ever wondered what life would be like as a heros weapon? "Where is this place?!" Steven was your ordinary person. Had a good life, job, family, he had is good. That was until he died. Not by a truck, falling, or heart attack. He was murdered. That was the time when his life got hella alot worse. Now being able to turn into a sword and a shield, he makes the oath to find his way back home, convince his sister that he's her brother, and maybe pick up a Harem of two along the way. *Contains reference to other Royal Road stuff, and anime and manga.* (Some has been rewritten to make sense)
8 182A Cultivation Journey
A story of reincarnator...maybe a transmigrator?... with the strongest cultivation manual which is somehow underpowered given it's standard. This is his story in a land of cultivation filled with unknown possibilities.
8 172A Meaningless Hero
Book 1 Gray, a college student in his final year of studies suddenly finds himself in another world on his way to class. For most, a dream come true. Not for him. Caught in a life-threatening situation minutes after arriving, can he find a way home? And if he can... will he want to after spending so long in this new world? -Author's Note- My first story posted here, inspired by elements from Japanese web novels, Xianxia and more. Not much to say other than enjoy and thanks in advance for reading. Rewrite hosted on scribblehub as "Nothing Persists"
