《Lord of the skies》Chapter 21 - Investigation

Everyone had a bad look on their faces, this mission was pretty much impossible in the actual circumstances. No one had an epic rated skill by what was known. An expert ranked mission was very hard for an individual, and an epic mission would be almost impossible.
There was a symbol floating beside the mission. Looking at it with attention, a prompt appeared.
This mission can only be taken individually.
It looked like the city was lost. Not only the mission was rated as Epic, it could only be done individually.
At this rate, it seemed that many cities would vanish from the world….
"This is madness… The mission is too hard, and can only be taken individually… We are all dead!" Said Samuel with a despairing look on his face.
"This…. I don't know what to say, but the only thing that matters now is that the city is going to crumble if no one takes it." I said. Even I thought that this was a suicide mission, but even so, it must be taken!
"What do we do now?" Asked Jess.
"Even if the mission is rated as epic, we must still take it. If we only wait here until the hordes arrive, we are all going to die. The city could resist for a while, but without a source of food and water, we could only last so long in here." There was light sinning inside of me, I had to take all my chances in this!
"Let's not go straight to the mission. we should expend all our points to train in a mindscape for as long as we can before we do it." Bryan looked at his points.
Points
65.634
He made some calculations and saw that he had enough points to train in the 3x1 time conversion training for 16 real-world hours or 48 training hours inside the mindscape.
"I have enough points to train for 16 hours in the 4 thousand points chamber," Bryan said.
"I have some spare points, I will give you enough to complete 20 hours." Said Jess while transferring some points to him through the system.
"Thanks. Let's go then!" Bryan proceeded to the training hall.
arriving there, he saw that the place was empty, and a young man was wearing the revolutionaries clothes inside the hall.
The man only nodded at them and didn't impede their way.
They quickly selected the training mode that they wanted and entered it.
***
arriving at the white dojo, he saw that an old man was waiting for him there. The man had a white beard and was bald.

"Welcome young one, in what do you wish to train in?" Asked the old man.
"I want to get as powerful as possible in the shortest time, I have a city to save!" Said Bryan.
"Hmm… Let's get to training then." The old man said with a grin on his face.
***
The time passed quickly, after 48 hours of intense training, Bryan was finally out of the hall.
He looked at his status and saw that he had at least a breakthrough.
Race:
Human
Strength:
117 → 127
Agility:
141 → 167
Intelligence:
95 → 105
Wisdom:
91 → 101

Skills
Name
Level/Tier
Spear mastery
98/Master → 99/Master
Lightning body
53/Expert → 70/Expert
Cloud walker
95/Novice → 05/Expert
The skill cloud walker evolved from a novice skill to expert, The lightning body had some advancements, but what was truly making him mad was that Spear mastery was on the verge of a breakthrough, but he was still lacking a bit.
He looked around and saw that both Samuel and Jess had also gotten out of the mindscape.
"Let's rest for tonight. Tomorrow morning we do to the mission." Bryan said.
***
The morning arrived and they had reunited in front of the missions hall. everyone in the city was tense. Many people were trying to vandalize the buildings, but the troops of the revolutionaries were keeping the order.
The front of the building was now empty, the people that were crazy enough to get the mission had already done it, or they were waiting for the invasion.
Getting in front of the board, the trio looked at the board and steeled their hearts.
"Guys, if the mission is to difficult, you have to give it up. Remember, our lives first." Bryan said. "After getting the mission, let's see if we can at least try it together."
They focused on the mission and accepted it.
Beginning transmission in 3, 2, 1...
Bryan saw the screen before him and looked sideways to his companions only having the time to say. "Good luck."
He felt his body twisting and distorting. Everything around him was in shambles. After a moment, everything stopped.
A sense of dizziness overwhelmed his senses, but Bryan forced himself to concentrate and look around. He was on some hill, and everything around him was dead and barren. Some sparse trees were burnt by the sun and the earth was red.
"Shit… where am I?"
He was truly lost. The only clue that he had was that he should find some kind of space fracture and close it.

He looked around but didn't find any clue to guide him, everything until the horizon was barren earth.
"I have to find a clue… There is a space fracture… maybe the creatures are attracted to it."
"Let's walk to a direction first." He looked to the skies and saw that a red sun was shining up there. He used the red sun as a reference and walked in a random direction.
He walked all day but didn't find any creature or a different environment.
"I am going to rest now… I have walked enough for today."
Bryan sat down and began to meditate. Although he didn't have anything to eat or drink, he was an energy cultivator and could survive long periods only relying on energy.
He began to absorb the energy around him, but felt that it was strange… something was making it hard for him to do it. There was some kind of suction force that was pulling the energy away from him.
"That's it. The space fracture must be sucking the energy around it." He began to concentrate and felt the direction where the energy was pulled.
"That's it." He looked at the horizon and saw that the suction was coming from the opposite side to where he was going. "It took only a day for me to realize where the direction of the space fracture is. The others that also took the mission must have realized this as well, at least they will when they try to cultivate."
He meditated for the rest of the night to replenish his strengths and began to head toward the place where the energy was going. He looked for clues during his journey to find some other people. "The others should be around here as well, after all, we all took the same mission."
While walking through the desert, he tried to augment his comprehension of lightning. He looked at his surrounds, perceiving the other aspects of nature. Everything was connected, all things in nature led to one another. It seemed that to understand the true nature of life he would have to understand nature itself to some extent.
After walking for half a day, he saw in the distance a black point. It seemed that he had finally found something different. After getting closer, he saw that it was a wall, a huge wall. looking ahead, he could see that the place was still on the horizon, but he could already see the wall.
Bryan walked for 3 hours and he could finally see the wall. There were some humanoid creatures above the wall, and there was a huge open gate.
He looked around to try and find a place to hide while getting closer to the wall, but unfortunately, the land was too barren to offer any kind of cover.
"It seems that there is no other solution, I will wait until it's night to investigate the place." He thought to himself.
Getting some cover from a dry tree, he waited until it was night and began to get closer to the wall.
under the cover of the night, he got closer and closer to the wall, and could finally see the race that was living in the place.
Orcs!!
They had a red coloration on their skin, just like the color of the dirt beneath his feet. They were tall and muscular. They had some sentinels that were on the city walls that had some kind of flashlight to illuminate the city surroundings, and there was even various guard manning the gate.
It seemed that to infiltrate the city and close the space fracture, he would have to find a way to infiltrate the city.
He began to looks on the walls and saw that they were truly impregnable. The wall was black like it was scorched from the sun. the only way that he saw to infiltrate the city was climbing the wall itself. But the problem was that the wall was too big!! it was over fifty meters tall. Even if he could find a way to climb it, he would be exposed for too long, without a place to hide. If one of the sentinels turned the light to his direction, he would be dead.
The security of the place was too high. It seemed that there were many threats to the city, for it to be in a state of war.
"Shit, there must be another way to get into the city!"
He began to walk around the city while looking for some way to get in. After walking over a distance, he finally found away.
"Hell no!" Looking over at the giant pit of shit, and a pipe that was throwing the city's waste on it, he was happy to find a way in, but sad because he had to swim at shit

Welcome to the world of Fantasiaia, a world full of magic, epic monsters, heroic battles and more! It's the new, cutting edge VRMMORPG world what everyone has dreamed about! And now welcome Markus Fickus, your average young man in our average and boring world! He was just an ordinary man, until one day, something changed his whole life. As he ate his breakfast on that fateful morning, little did he know that he would choke on his coffee and die—just to be reincarnated in the world of Fantasiaia! "Wait, what?" Mark said, looking up from his bowl of cereal. He didn't follow the script properly, and forgot to prepare his coffee. "I thought Fantasiaia was a VRMMO," Mark muttered as he made his way to his coffee machine. "How can someone reincarnate into a game?" Of course, what Mark didn't know was that logic and reason didn't matter. It was magic! Besides, everyone loves virtual reality stories and reincarnation novels. So why not have both? Mark shook his head sadly, but prepared his coffee in silence. When he finished, he looked up at the sky—and saw only the dull white ceiling of his apartment. He felt utterly cheated that the last thing he would see in this world was the peeling paint on the wall. "They are not paying me enough for this," Mark grumbled, then drank up his coffee. And then he died. PS: I found the cover picture on THE INTERNET. By no means will I tell you the artist's name or give any credit to them, but I let you know that the image is not mine. [French] Le chat de Schrödinger - An Ephyria Story
