Chapter 2.1
Seated all alone in a room was a figure in black clothing. They had their head on the desk in front of them, seemingly sleep. Footsteps could be heard approaching, the sounds made the figure raise their head up and looked straight forward. From the sound, it sounded like heels hitting the ground. The door to the room slowly creeped open and an older woman stepped inside.
She was wearing a skin tight black dress that showed off her curves. Her black hair fluttered behind her as she stepped in the center of the class. With her green eyes staring at the black figure in front of her, she spoke, “Mr. Miller, it’s time you go home. You’ve served enough time here, don’t you think?”
The figure who was seated was none other than Adrian. ‘Finally, this damn hour seemed like forever.’ He stretched his arms and let out a yawn as he got up from his seat and grabbed his backpack that was on the ground beside him.
‘Guess i’ll go meet up with them.’ He told himself as he digged into his pocket and pulled out his phone. It wasn’t anything too spectacular, just the A 5. The A 5 was a two year old smart phone that basically had a new one coming out every year. This year the company upgraded its processor so the phone ran smoother and made a better UI so everything was easy to access. Adrian would have loved to get one, but there was no way his mother was going to pay six hundred dollars for a phone. At least unless he was getting all A’s in everything, which he doubted would ever happen.
He sent a quick message to Ed telling him that he wouldn’t make it home early today because he had something else to do. He also sent a message to his mother telling her that he would just order some food or something before he got back home. He didn’t want her to come home from work making more food than she needed to.
As he was walking down the hallway going towards the gym, his phone vibrated letting him know he had a new message. He checked to see what it was. It was his mother telling him to make it home earlier if he could, his dad was coming home today sometime.
‘He’s finally coming home huh? It’s been around two months since we’ve last seen him. Time surely flies by doesn’t it.’
Adrian’s father was a scientist, so he was always busy and sometimes he disappeared for extended periods of time. Sometimes Adrian thought that his dad's work was more important than their family considering how often he is away from them. However Adrian also knew that he was one of the lucky ones, not everyone had a dad. Well… they did, but their fathers weren’t around in their lives and some people didn’t even know who their father was. Besides, it wasn’t like his father was a bad one.

Working for one of the biggest companies had it’s perks. He got to sometimes go travel the world with his dad while his dad was on a project. Sometimes Adrian even got to see some of the famous scientist who were always on the news for something they’ve did or for something they found. Compared to others, he could say his travel experience was probably quadruple theirs.
Making his way to the gym, he could hear the basketball being bounced around. Not to mention he could hear the coach in their yelling at his players.
“Faster! That play needs to be done perfectly! Do it again!” An older man yelled to all the young boys running around passing the basketball around. His head was bald and he was wearing a plain shirt along with some tan pants.
Adrian could make out Nate as he was dribbling the basketball down the court calling for a play. Shortly after another player ran through a string of picks, after he got set on the side of the court Nate passed him the ball. He took the ball and shot it. Swosh. It went straight into the net.
“That’s what i’m talking about!” The coach yelled at them in an energetic voice. “Alright, today was just a warm up. Starting tomorrow we’ll be doing the real thing. Go take a cool down lap and hit the showers after, you guys all stank.” He told them as he walked into his office which wasn’t that far away from the court.
Adrian took his attention off the players and walked over to the bleachers as he noticed Emilia leaning her head against Bryan’s shoulder. They looked so lovely, that it made him want to throw up. ‘Why Mr. Johnson, why did you have to put me in this group. Surely things would have been better if I were in another one.’
Taking his seat away from Emilia and Bryan, Adrian brought out his A 5 and began playing a game on it while waiting for Nate to finish or for them to notice him.
‘The hell! I’m offline for almost a day and this guy’s battle power shot up more than mines. Ha, you think i’ll just let you take that number one spot away from me! Think again.’ Adrian went to the cash shop on the game and spent a hundred dollars buying gems to increase what he could buy in the game. He then brought a few exp pills along with some drop rate scrolls. ‘Give me five, no four hours, i’ll show you who the real VIP is.’ Adrian began laughing to himself as he lost himself into his mobile game.
He didn’t realize how long has passed since he came to the gym and started playing his mobile game, but his phone almost died on him in the middle of a match. ‘Only ten percent left huh.’ He turned his head and noticed Emilia looking over at him. ‘Well since we made eye contact, I’d better go say hi.’

Getting up while putting his phone in his pocket, he walked over to the two of them. “Hey.” He said to them.
“Hey Adrian. Why didn’t you sit over here with us when you came in? You know your company is more than welcome.” Emilia told him.
‘Yeah… right. Who would dare come sit over here with you two being all lovey dovey. You would have to be insane. Sometimes I ask myself, is it really worth it liking you.’ Adrian slightly smiled, “Nah, I didn’t want to interrupt you guys and ruin the mood or anything. Besides, I had something to do anyways. Speaking of things to do, where’s Nate so we can get started on this project.”
Bryan looked over his shoulder and Adrian followed where he was looking. He could see Nate wearing sweatpants and a jacket, it was totally different from his outfit from earlier. In front of Nate was a female whose cheeks were red.
“I see.” Adrian spoke softly. ‘Poor girl, you just don’t know what you are getting yourself into do you?’
Ten minutes later Nate walked over to them. “You guys ready, isn’t about time for us to go.”
Emilia looked at her phone and shook her head. “Not yet, I thought today was going to be longer so I told dad to pick us up an hour later than now. I tried to call him but he didn’t answer.”
“Em, I told you that today was going to be a short day. Geez, why don’t you ever listen to me.”
“Maybe because last time you said it was going to be short me and dad waited for another two hours! You never tell us the full story, it's always something practical with you. Next time how about you tell him yourself.”
“What about you, you're not the perfect angel you make yourself out to be. Remember that time dad said you could only spend one hour at Bryan's house because it was so late at night, but you ended up staying for three! Ha, I wonder what you were doing over there for three hours.” He said as he stared at her with his arms folded.
Emilia’s face turned slightly red. “We didn’t do anything you bastard! Bryan was trying to catch up on some work he didn’t understand and I thought it was only one class he needed help in but it was actually three of them. You think I would do something like that, ugh you disgust me.”
“If both of you don’t chill out, every time i’m around you two are always fighting about something. Can’t you two get along for god’s sake, your twins.” Bryan tried to calm both of them down.
“No!” They said in unison.
“Look, how about I call my parents and see if they can pick us up, i’m sure neither one of them will have a problem with it.” Bryan gave his suggestion to them.
Emilia glanced at him and gave a slight smile. “At least Bryan is trying to do something unlike you.”
Nate rolled his eyes and gave out a sigh. “Whatever Em, i’m done with this.” Nate turned around and went down a few steps then took a seat and put headphones on that he got out of his pocket.
‘This is why i’m glad I don’t have any siblings, they would piss me off more than Nate does on a school day.’ Adrian told himself while thanking his parents for not having any more children. He couldn’t imagine having to deal with anyone else, he had enough troubles as it was already.
Bryan started dialing a number and started talking to one of his parents. The way it was going, it didn’t seem like they could help either. He said that they both went out on a date, so he could either wait until they were done or find another way.
From below Nate tilted his head backwards and looked up at them. “Useful right.”
Emilia rolled her eyes and told Bryan not to mind Nate. She said he was probably still upset at what happened earlier when he didn’t back Nate up.
Adrian couldn’t help but giggle at this brother and sister pair. His phone vibrated a few times in his pocket and he pulled it out to see who it was. ‘Dad?’ Adrian’s father was calling him, which meant that he had to be in town now.
“Hello?”
“Hey son, what are you up to?”
“Nothing much, just stuck at school for another hour it seems.”
“Detention… again?”
“No… well I had it, but that isn’t why i’m here even longer. Anyways, are you in town right now, if so I could really use a ride.”
“Yeah, i’m just picking something up for your mother. She seems to be in a cheerful mood today, anything good happen while I was gone?” He asked Adrian.
“Not that I know of, you should know more about this than me, she is your wife you know.”
Adrian’s dad began to laugh over the phone. “That she is. If you give me like five minutes, i’ll be headed your way. Oh, I also have something cool to show you. It’s part of a new project that we are working on, I wanted you to take a look and see what you think about it.”
“Alright, I guess i’ll catch you when you arrive.”
“Ok, cya soon.”
“Bye.” Adrian said as he hung the phone up.
“Who was that?” Emilia asked him.
“My dad, he just came back in town and he said he’ll pick us up. He’ll be here soon, so we can wait outside.”
Emilia’s eyes became wide. “Whaa! This is perfect, we can just ask your dad about his thoughts on the tenth planet and see what we can get out of him. Maybe it’ll make our day a lot easier than we originally planned.”
