Qhonen

[Ko-nin]– Qhoic [Ko-ick]- Very similar to Elves in traditional fantasy. Live in shaded forests with a large variety of plants and fauna. Life-span of around 120 years on average. Reach maturity at around 20. large, pointed ears, eyes similar to humans but much brighter and color ranging pupils that are often considered mesmerizing. Skin generally flesh colored, but a more pale variant. Sleek and slender bodies, but otherwise humanoid. Hair similar to humans as well – generally kept short and lighter in color. Herbivores, 2 fang-like teeth similar to a vampire’s in front – adapted to suck juices from various fruit native to the forests in which Qhonen reside. Differences in male/female similar to humans. The Qhonen have friendly relations with most human societies, but are still skeptical of them in general.

Males: Ears slightly larger than humans. Eye color more vivid, often a bright green, yellow, or blue

Females: Ears larger, longer and at a downward angle. Eye color less vibrant in hue, but still bright. Often gray/blue. Females do not develop breasts, as Qhoic offspring are fed juices from native fruits – not milk.

Mara

Home to the Qhonen. Very dense jungle country, most Qhonen live in tree shelters and cities as the scale and density of the trees provides perfect natural shelter and cover from any sort of hostile environment.

Nemeria is a beautiful thriving city of Qhonen. It's the most modern and human-like of the main cities of Mara, with carved buildings, but it also retains the typical Maran feel. It's on a large cliffside overlooking the vast lake in the center of Mara. It is also a very old cliff that used to be an underwater channel, causing many underground caverns and a very uneven landscape. At the highest point if the cliff is a mountain, and at the base (also being the cliffside) lies the city. As such, there are numerous waterfalls and the buildings almost appear to hang off of the sides of rock faces. It is a very well naturally protected city.
