《The terror of depths》Chapter 12 - long fish

[Long fish]
When Obsi woke up again he was greeted by a serene quiet. For a second he thought that Karka went hunting again before realising she was still sleeping besides him.
Moving slowly as to not wake her he moved to the cave entrance to check what was happening.
Sensing nothing in a 90 meter radius he started moving. After a few seconds of moving in one direction he sensed something.
Moving closer to get a better read on it he started making out details. It was massive, 8 meters across, covered in scales and spikes that seemed to drip poison heavier than water and it was moving.
The absurdity of the thing took Obsi a second to realise. This thing was a living being, a gigantic living being. This thing had scared off all their potential prey.
Taking a minute to calm down and not panic Obsi observed it a little more. He realised that it was moving deeper and doing so fast. Considering that they were at least a kilometer deep in the water it made sense something like this would go deeper, but then why was it near the surface in the first place?
As he wondered what to do and how to deal with the food problem he sensed Karka poking her head out of the cave. A second later she sensed him and swam towards him. Another couple seconds later she sensed the gigantic being and realized what it was and began to panic.
As she reached Obsi he began to try and calm her down. After a minute of telling her to relax he managed to stop her from panicking too much.
'Alright have you calmed down now?'
'yes...'
'good. Now then, we have to consider a few things, first what we do about food, it was already going to be difficult to acquire and now it's downright impossible. Second, leveling, we have reached our first evolution and from the levels of the predators we killed it looks like we will be stuck at a low level here, to fix that we could go down, the same direction as that thing is going, or we could do the opposite and go up where it's potentially safer. What do you think?'

'umm, I don't know, aren't you our leader?'
'yes I am but that doesn't mean I won't listen to your opinion, I don't know if you would like to go up or down and I'm not going to force you to do what you don't want to do.'
'ah, okay then, umm, I don't know? I don't like to be hungry, that's all I know, isn't there food wherever we go?'
Sighing Obsi answered 'I guess you're right, if you don't know then we will postpone it. Now then, we still need to eat so let's go and look for food.'
'okaaay!'
At the mention of food Karka cheered up a lot. As they went hunting Obsi and Karka tried out their new bodies a little to get more used to them.
It had taken them an hour to find anything they could hunt. They had found a Tuna swarm of 30 fish. I guess since there's a lot less of them now they decided to group together more. As they prepared to attack Obsi noticed a few other fish swimming a couple dozen meters away from the swarm. Pointing it out to Karka who was already drooling he told her to take care of the fish there.
'why?'
'because they will come and try to eat your food.'
'ah, okay!'
With that they split up, Obsi taking out the ones closer to the swarm and Karka taking out the ones further back. Sucking the fish dry of blood they met above the swarm once more. Discussing how they would attack the Tuna they agreed to both take on either side of the swarm, Obsi stunning them beforehand with his ability.
Executing their plan Obsi activated his ability on max power, the whole swarm going quiet in a second. The next second he and Karka were on them. Obsi punching and crushing with his hand while biting up heaps of fish. Karka punched as well but mostly used her wings, head and horns. They had discussed the effects their tails would have on the fish and decided to not use them simply because there wouldn't be anything to eat after.

The swarm was killed in seconds, Obsi killing six fish a second and Karka killing five, mostly due to the fact that using wings to slice fish was quite difficult.
Dividing the fish equally they began to eat.
'hey Obsi why are you giving me as much fish as you get if you killed more of them?'
'why shouldn't I divide the amount equally? Do you want less because you're so small?'
'I'm not small!'
'then you have to eat as much as I do to grow at the same rate.'
Continuing to chit-chatting they finish their food and went looking for more, neither of them being quite filled.
It had taken them another hour to find a new swarm, this time they numbered in the fifty's. Taking care of the lurking scavengers they executed their strategy once more, Obsi stunning the fish and the two of them descending to slaughter them after.
This swarm went quite like the last one, the only difference was the few extra seconds to kill off all the fish. Dividing the fish equally again they began to eat.
When they finished their meal Obsi noticed some more scavengers showing up. Not finding the scavengers of any interest and having already eaten their fill they began to swim back to their cave.
'Obsi there are more scavengers!' Karka announced, finally noticing few fish that had shown up.
'good girl.' Obsi praised her and gave her a head pat which resulted in a twirl from her.
When they reached the cavern Obsi choose to settle down near the entrance in case anything happened. Karka as usual settled down next to him.
I hope that long thing won't cause any trouble...

Once a prosperous and well-to-do city, Oar's Crest has fallen into depression and disrepair. [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Author's Note: Dungeons are Bad Business (DABB) is a slow burn slice-of-life dungeon core litRPG citybuilder that's focused on the day to day experience of running a dungeon. There will be some action, but it won't be the focus of the story and Vee and his friends will usually overcome their problems with their minds and their pocketbooks instead of their weapons. Since I'm participating in the writeathon, I will probably be uploading chapters almost daily for the duration of the event. Thanks for reading!

How to have fun in an apocalypse (Rewrite)
After spending an unsavory amount of time in hell, our protagonist finally manages to escape the place that had kept him captive for so long... again. Unfortunately, even after plotting and planning for years, he ends up in a place not much different from the burning and agonizing Tartarus he once had to call home. Guts, blood, and carnage start to reign over Earth as soon as he set foot in it, much to his dismay. What use is it to cry over spilled milk, though? Tired of the monotony of endless torture, he steps into the world intending to have as much fun as possible. While others might try to raid the Orc Lord with as many people as possible, why not challenge him to an arm-wrestling tournament? The power of friendship will surely be on his side. Why hide from the big, bad wolf in one of your houses if wearing camo in plain sight should have the same effect? Now, making friends and going on adventures would be perfectly fine, if it wasn't for the fact that he hides a few more secrets than one might think at first. This is a complete rewrite! Due to being unsatisfied with the previous version, I have decided to work the story up, beginning from the older chapters! Version 2.0 includes: - enhanced writing and editorial skills - additional information and aspects to characters - minor deviation from storyline and improvements

Thank you for reading my first story, hopefully, the first of many to come. This will be my main story and is meant to help me practice and hone my skills as I slowly produce more complex ideas. It's a litrpg in which I want to only lightly focus on the mechanics as I don’t want to pad out the word count with math and number tables and while I want to add a few of my own twists here and there, overall I’m going to keep this story close to generic as possible so that I don't let my inexperience lead me into a corner. Thanks again to all willing to leave a review or some constructive criticism, without you I'd never improve. Unfortunately, Cover art is by me.
