《Death's Heir》Chapter 18 : Space Ring

After the young lady left, closed the door behind her and When over to sit on the window pane and look over at the city.
It was truly as Shahiem described it was beautiful hundreds if not millions of different lights all across the city along with the bright stars across the sky truly made it into something breathtaking.
Still playing with the ring on his finger he decided to talk it off and inspect it but no matter how hard he looked he still couldn't tell what the runes meant.
"How do I open it?"
After playing around with it for awhile he finally put it back on his finger still staring at it tryna figure out how to open it.
'I wonder.....'
He took the ring off his finger again but this time he gently channeled divine energy into and within seconds his mind was in a dark space.
'Shit no again'
He really started to panic and felt like he was about to meet that man again but after a few seconds after his earlier panic, he calmed down when realized that this was probably inside the space ring.
A few meters away from him on the ground, there was a book a few inches thick, walking out to the book there was a note on it.
"'If your reading this then it means you probably aren't dead as yet but there's still time'"
Pausing right there he didn't even have to guess and he knew that Maseru wrote the note
"'Right now you're inside the space ring this book and some clothes are pretty much the only time I left in here but this book in your hand in worth far more than money, so just hold onto it and stop pouring energy into the ring'"

He was extremely curious as to what could be in the book, so much so that he didn't even bother searching the rest of the space ring to see if Maseru was lying or not, he immediately stopped pouring energy into the ring and in the blink of an eye he was back on the bed with a brown leather book beside him.
Ripping off the note that was on the cover, there was nothing else that was on it only the brown leather cover so he opened it.
On the first page was something that he wished he'd never seen 'inferno', that was what the glowing man said before he set him ablaze.
Remember what happened cold sweat started running down his back but after taking a few deep breaths he was calm again.
Looking back at the page with the 'inferno' title It described a way to channel the Divine Energy through his body to get it to produce fire.
Looking at the bottom of the page there was a warning
*must have affinity for magic to cast spell*
He wasn't sure if he had an affinity for magic but based on the note that was on the cover of the book it was clearly meant for him as well as the fact that he didn't really think Maseru would directly try to hurt him, well as he hoped.
Based on the description of the spell in the book as well as his personal experience with the spell he thought it would be a better idea to experiment outside.
So he picked up the book and walked out of the inn, surprisingly there were quite a few people in the streets maybe it was because it was almost sunrise but it was still dark out so he would've thought that these people would be sleeping.

Whatever these people were doing didn't really affect him he was just trying to get as far out of the city and up into the mountains as fast as possible to try this spell.
After walking out of the city then running off into the mountains as fast as he could, about two hours later he was fairly deep into the mountains on a rocky slightly open area but he couldn't start right away because of the energy he'd wasted running here he was almost out of energy.
Sitting down and mediating for another hour or so he was finally ready to try the spell, reading the instructions a few times he decided to try for himself.
He was just going to try and create a small flame at first then try making it bigger and bigger until he could do what the glowing man had done to him or even what Enron did in his hometown.
After following the instructions over and over for about fifteen minutes nothing was happening not even a puff of smoke
"uggghhhh~ what the hell why isn't it work"
Taking a seat for moment he read the instructions for the spell again
"I am following the instructions so why isn't it working?!?"
He was really getting frustrated now why would that old bastard give him something he can use.
Putting down the book to started to take a deep breath, in out, in out until he was completely calm.
"Okay let's try again"
Following the instructions in the book again, making sure his 'i's were dotted and he crossed his 't's
After another few minutes of trying again, he felt a warm sensation coming from his palm but that was all there was still no flame, taking a short break he realizes his body was completely sticky.
"eww what the hell is this"
Finding the nearest river he could to wash his clothes as well as clean off the inky black sticky liquid that had formed on his skin before trying again.
The process of him trying and then having to have to take a shower went on for a few more hours but he still didn't give up because he felt like he was getting closer and closer every time the inky black liquid came out of his skin this caused him to realize that the liquid was perhaps the reason why he couldn't cast the spell maybe it was blocking it and with that thought as him motivation he pushed ahead.
And finally after another couple of hours and small flame about the size of a fist form in his palm.
Looking at the flame in his hand he completely froze for a moment, the flame didn't burn him but he knew deep down that if he be able to cast it on massive scale like Enron it would consume everything but somehow this flame seemed weaker than the one the glowing man used, a lot weaker but he was still incredibly happy.
It was all thanks to the girl reminding him about the space ring by some strange miracle for the entire time that they were talking he hadn't gotten her name but he'd see her again so it didn't bother him.

Azarinth Healer
A new world with nearly unlimited possibilities. A status, classes, magic and monsters. Sounds good? Well, for Ilea it didn't come quite as expected as for some other protagonists, nor was there a king or god to welcome her. The grand quest? Well, she might figure that out someday but for now, a new world with new food is prize enough. Her fists at the ready, she's prepared to punch and get punched, however long it takes and however many limbs she might have to regrow. A story I've started writing now quite a while ago. Transported to another world, somewhat standard fantasy setting with my beginner attempts to make it dark but funny. There are Litrpg elements here but I do hope it's not too heavy and annoying. The fights should be interesting and aren't just numbers vs numbers. Contrary to the title the protagonist will be quite an offensive fighter. Ilea Spears is your average sarcastic kick-boxing fast food worker and soon to be student. She will be transported to another world rather conventionally and will be confronted with survival in the wild. Give it a shot and let me know what you think. My experience is incredibly lacking. If you find yourself hating it early on, do convey your anger in a detailed comment or review :) I want to get better but without any feedback it's simply quite difficult. Quick heads up: Around chapter 120 there are a bunch of longer PoV changes that I discontinued again shortly after. The Arc around chapters 150-200 is darker than the rest and the themes shift quite a bit. Just know that it goes back to what you've come to know after that section. Thank you for reading. Quick update June 2019: Many complaints regarding the formatting, specifically spacing in conversations and of course the usage of the present tense in the first 36 chapters have been addressed. I'm of course learning by the day but compared to how it was before it should be an improvement at least. Chapters usually around 3k words Cover art by Kevin Catalan

8 86Flame Beneath The Snowfall
Alto is a world governed by Tones. Magic, as one might call it. Manifested through deep mental and physical conditioning, one can control the Tones in a way that is unique to them. The power to store items in gems, transfer life, affect a person's mind, and even the more primal abilities such as control of the elements. Those who have these supernatural abilities are called 'Vassals.' People that fully manifest their abilities are not as common as one might think, and not all Vassals acquire their ability through practice, given if conditions are met. In fact, those who had received much trauma manifest the Tones more frequently, albeit spontaneously. However, the rare kind of Vassals are those who manifest it from childhood. A gift, but not without its repercussions. Alto is stuck in a transitional era, where the line between modern and dated technology is blurred. One can travel to a city that has a tall skyline, bustling with people in sophisticated clothing, or a mere town governed by a lord, all the while riding on a powered vehicle. Cultures vary: Some turn to the more dated practices such as castes, others are more inclined to set equal footing on their people, led by nobility. Some are dedicated to become scholars, studying Alto's Tones, while others set foot on hunts, protecting lone towns from the creatures of some of the still-untamed lands. And the Vassals? Those willing are took under The Organization, an elusive group, its presence said to permeate all throughout Alto, taking care of Rogue Vassals that abuse their abilities and other businesses related to their side. But what is this story all about, you may ask? Well, set your sights on the upper portions of this huge landmass that is Alto. Yes, the 'whole' world is called Alto, but that is because the majority of the known people live on this large continent. Relieve yourself of the worrying tensions everywhere, and see the white snow. Trace the piercing mountaintops and focus your eyes between the valley. A town sits there. Mido. After realizing that the memories only left in his mind was the night of his town's imminent destruction in flames, a boy finds himself grasping for every fiber of his life as he lays down flat on the ground. Beneath him was soot mixed with the white snow. Fortunately, a group of investigators, who were supposed to answer their call for help, saved him from his sorry state. With a newfound second wind, but hampered by his loss of memory, he must solve his own case: Who had the audacity to set Mido, his town, aflame? Flame Beneath the Snowfall focuses on action, with a sense of adventure, but mostly the discovery of an outside world, and the protagonist's exposure to it. Add in a whisk of soft magical elements, and you get a story that I hope will be interesting to the readers. That is not to say that my work is without the sense of unnerving atmosphere, however. As a forewarning, there are elements of gore, horror, minor elements of mental trauma, etc. so it is not for all audiences. *The book is already completed. Although I have plans to continue the story (it would have to involve much larger scope in terms of world-building), I have yet to decide when to start the next entry.
8 117The Atomic Vice

When the authorities hear of ever stranger reports they begin to investigate, leading down a rabbit-hole of ever more worrying and deadly events. Is it weird and insane? Yes. Is the girl in the front cover suffering from a severe shoulder injury? Also yes. But that's what you're here for, you wonderful, wonderful person. You're in this thread for the insane, bizarre adventure that Atomics is. The Atomic Vice is complete at around 110k words composed of 16 chapters.
