《Death's Heir》Chapter 17 : Sleepless Night

After getting swindled out of his money Azreal wasn't sad or disappointed but he did have his guards up against everyone there, so he took a seat in the corner of the guild and read through the rulebook.
It didn't even surprise him when he noticed that his memory had increased by an incredible amount it was almost as if he had an eidetic memory so after reading through it the first time he had already memorized it but he didn't want to take any chances so he read it over a few more times.
'I should probably find a motel or something......would they even have those here?...'
Getting up from where he was sitting he walked towards the receptionist who was still around her desk.
"Hey do y-"
"Kali"
"huh?"
"I realized that I never introduced myself earlier and since your apart of the family now I should introduce myself"
Nodding in understanding he smiled at her.
"Okay, Kali do you know if there are any inns or anywhere I could get a room?"
"oh~ this is probably your first time in the capital, once you go outside just take the first left then second right and you'll find one at the end of the street"
"Mhmm thanks"
After getting the information and following the direction he found them in at the end of the street, the sign on the front just simply said 'welcome' so he went inside.
Inside there were a few men sleeping on the tables with flushed faces, the alcohol on the table pretty much explained that and a lady standing around the counter cleaning some glasses.
"Can I help you?"
Her voice sounds a bit like what you hear in an old western film, she was a bit tubby but not in a bad way, she looked like she was about thirty-five, forty.

"I'd like a room"
After hearing that he was a customer she didn't seem to care very much it looked like it was just another day to her.
"We only have one room left but you gotta pay a week in advance for both room and food and we don't give out refunds if you don't stay the week"
After thinking about it for a while he didn't really see a problem with it.
"That's fine, how much is it?"
"Three gold a day, seven days in a week, twenty-one gold for the room and another seven if you want the three meals a day"
The woman didn't really seem like the talkative type so he just handed her the card, so just took the card swiped it in a machine then handed it back to him as well as a room key.
"Room number four O three, I'll send someone up with your food soon"
"Thanks"
When he was about to walk off and head to his room it dawned on him that he had no idea where it was.
Seeing him pause the lady spoke up.
"Straight up the stairs, third room on your right"
This time he went straight up to his room, it wasn't a bad room although it couldn't compare to the one that he woke up in when he was at Maseru's mansion it was still worlds apart from when he used to live in the mountains.
Not that it mattered where he slept so long as he was comfortable.
Looking around aside from the bedroom there was also a bathroom and it was just what he needed although he didn't feel dirty or sweaty still the thought of a bath did make him feel happy.
Throwing his clothes on the bed he went into the bathroom, within a minute or so the whole room was filled with steam, after being in the shower for a few minutes he heard a gentle knocking coming from the door so he hurriedly dried off as much as possible then put on his pants and opened the window to let out the steam then opened the door so seen a teenager girl that was a bit younger than him standing there.

When the door opened in front of her although the room was a bit foggy from steam the first thing that greeted her was a half-naked man who was still wet from coming out of the shower, her entire face flushed red looking like a ripe tomato.
"I...I...I.....This is your food"
She found it hard to talk she just kept stuttering and ever when she was able to speak the words just rushed out of her mouth.
"Thanks just put it on the table I'll be right back"
After opening the door for her he went over to the bed and picked up his clothes and walked into the bathroom to finish drying off and putting on his clothes.
She wasn't sure why the man who didn't look much older than her wanted her to stay but she still didn't leave she stayed in the room.
After a few minutes, Azreal came out of the shower to see the girl who had just brought him his food still in the room.
'Am I supposed to tip her or something...'
He didn't really want to ask if that was what she wanted because he thought that that would make it awkward if that wasn't why she was here
So he decided to just try and play it cool and talk to her to see if he could figure out what she wanted.
At first, the conversation started out a bit awkward; how are you......what do you like to do...
The girl was confused the whole time is this why he wanted her to stay, so he could have someone to talk to?
But eventually the conversation started to flow and before they knew it they'd been talking for hours, it wasn't the type of conversation that would lead to a prospective lover it was just a conversation with a few good laughs that would make him forget the world wind that his life had been for last couple day.
Although he had to break off the conversation first because her mother would think that she was doing something if she stayed in his room any longer even though it had already been a few hours and the door was open she still thought it was inappropriate but before she left she asked something that reminded him of something Important.
"what is that weird ring on your finger?"
It was only at this time that Azreal remembered that he was wearing the space ring.
"It's a space ring"
He answered while playing with the ring on his finger.
"A space ring!!"
She was truly shocked, even though space rings weren't that rare she'd only ever seen a few but never this close up before, they weren't cheap either only royals, some nobles and some successful mercenaries could afford them.
Looking at the space ring on his fingers she was still totally shocked but eventually after talking for a little bit more she got over her previous surprise and after another hour or so she left.

I won't go into too much detail, but only simply explain what happened. Due to some malfunctioning and incorrect assumptions, the reactor overproduced energy. Have done countless simulations and even built test stations in space. Yet now, something had gone when they did the same on earth. Bizarre, right? This malfunctioning and imploding of the reactor caused a massive explosion due to the instability of space itself.
