《A Virtual Invasion》Prelude 4: Refined Psionic Energy

"I don't understand this world network you want to build with the new computers," the liaison complained. "It seems like a huge waste of resources. No one except the government even has computers."
"As production increases, ideally everyone will have one. Think of it as a library people can access on the network."
"But why?"
"We have no time to train everyone. We need to set up incentives for people to train themselves."
"It would be better if only the government have access to this."
"We won't do that."
"But..."
"I have been given the final power of decision. I am going to have to use it here."
"I don't understand why they would allow that."
Salthuin knew why. He had made it clear that if they didn't, he would take his knowledge and go to their rival country. Presently there was a cold war going on and they didn't like this at all. There wasn't a thing that any armed force could do to him if he decided to leave. His entire team could bring this world to its knees within a week. As a General his power dwarfed his entire team. Although each of the Emperor's soldiers had a kill switch, it hadn't really been needed.
"What's this mystic mumbo jumbo you want to put on the database?" The soldier was still upset about being overruled. "I can understand the science and technology but this is just nonsense."
"The primary opposition to the Emperor is the Confederation of Mages. Although the Empire doesn't have that much expertise in regards to magic, we have fought enough to have captured some basic knowledge. I am hoping that with a population of several billion there will be some exceptional people that can take our basic knowledge and develop it. Whether this is the case or not we will include it in the final simulations."

"What is this crap you're trying to sell me about magic? Everyone knows magic doesn't exist!"
"No unaltered human can use magic," I corrected. "I had to go into the restricted science sections to alter the retrovirus to add this potential to the human genome." If he hadn't already been planning to rebel he would have doubtlessly been under placed arrest despite his status.
"But magic isn't real."
Salthuin gestured at the table, it abruptly rose into the air, circled the room before gently settling down. The liaison stared at the table as if it had been possessed.
"Was that magic?"
"No, that was merely a bit of telekinesis. My knowledge of the art is minimal. They are very loosely related. Although not completely true, you can consider magic as refined psionic energy."
"I need to think about this. Do whatever you want with that network thing. Can't see it working but whatever." Obviously, in a daze, the man left the room.
"Refined psionic energy," a skeptical voice boomed out in the air.
"I didn't want to explain it," Salthuin said shortly. "It’s not their fault but it is pretty frustrating. I suppose it will be easier to work with them once they have the foundation needed."
"Yes. In twenty years."
The rebel General didn't reply. All that could be heard was the grinding of nigh-indestructible teeth.

America in Another World
One day in 2019, the United States of America finds itself transported to a new world. What will happen if a modern superpower from Earth finds itself in a world with magic and technology ranging from the medieval era to World War 1? F-22 Raptors vs wyverns and biplanes. Arleigh Burke-class destroyers vs wooden ships, mage ships, and dreadnaughts. M4 carbines vs bow n’ arrows, staffs, and bolt-action rifles. Featuring aggressive expansionist empires and magical kingdoms, what will the United States do? I will do weekly updates every Sunday of chapters with about 1000-2000 words each. This is the first novel I have ever written and is meant to be a draft. The official one will come out sometime after I finish this.

8 183The Last 100
The bustling crush of humanity had become common place now, the cacophony of voices and the symphony of a city had become the song and dance of our species. But it was not always such, and return back to our more humble roots we did.The system had come, and it had stripped us bare. Sure it had given us a means to power, but at what cost. We were the last 100 left. Night was falling on the human race, it was a dark night, and it was cold. But go quietly we would not. We would make the world burn with an inferno of our defiance. Rage, rage against that goodnight, and I Jack Casser, have rage a plenty. This is my story, the story of the last 100.Author Note: This story is a LitRPG apocalypse, woah fucking original idea I know but hear me out. If you can look past preconceived ideas driven by a stigma of overdone tropes and done to death plots of achieving world domination and self-righteous characters and give the story a chance I hope it can surprise you.
8 116Is it Really Ok for a Dungeon Master to Manage a Dungeon?
Leo Flores just wanted to play D&D with his friends. He didn't expect anything life changing to happen during their odd little campaign, but next thing he knows he's been summoned by those same friends as the Demon King who will lead their dungeon to greatness. This takes being a Dungeon Master to a whole new level doesn't it? A fun romp of a story that takes a few jabs at the common tropes found in isekai LN while also mainting a genuine plot. Some moments and characters are based off my own campaigns I've run before. Trying to upload once a week, but may take up to two weeks to upload.

Yolthem. To be born here is a curse for some and a blessing for others. The Eldritch create havoc, “blessing†some with their power and driving others to utter madness. Spirits give people the ethereal power of Arcane, a force that no mortal can naturally wield that defies all laws of the universe. Blood and those that devour or revel in it reign supreme during the night and bide their time during the day. Mortals cower and pray to beings they do not understand for salvation that will not come while those of the cloth fight to protect them. None of this concerned our protagonist until their souls was bound to another against their will. Now they have two options.Help or hinder.Tags subject to change.**Once we get going past the set up expect very detailed description (of everything) and topics that may make you very uncomfortable. This may include but is not limited to: Religious fanaticism, extreme violence and gore, morally disgusting actions (torture, abuse, etc.) and more. You have been warned.**
