《Moonlit sky》Chapter 12 - Shadow orbs

"Interesting title, might be useful some day, anyway its clear now guys, lets head in." Said Tenebris as he went further inside the room, hearing him everyone followed trying to skip over sea of bat corpses on the ground.
"Theres the generator." Said Tomm as he pointed with his flashlight toward an old and rusted machine, he checked around it and continued. "Doesn't seem damaged, do you want to try it out now?"
"No, leave that for latter after you rewire it, we dont want to spend all the energy in one go." Answered Tenebris. "Ok guys lets clear this area up a bit this is gonna be our shelter from now on, unless we find something better."
"What should we do with those bat corpses?" Asked Tanya.
"Hmm, leave them outside pilled up, if therels any loot bring it here we will check it out later, Tomm can i help you out with anything?"
"We will see, lets check it out first." Answered Tomm as he put his bags down and pulled out a toolbox and started working on the generator.
After half an hour or so Tomm finished up with generator, Tenebris was of no use to him and rest of them already finished cleaning the room.
"Ok all done, this generator should now only be working for this basement area, if u want to limit it to this room only then ill have to pull out some wires from the walls to do so." Spoke Tomm.
"No this should be good, we might use those other rooms afterwards anyway, so did you guys find anything good?" Asked Tenebris.
"Well, there was couple of weird looking coins there, and we noticed something weird too, we didn't want to check it without consulting with you first." Answered Demian.
"Oh, coins, that doesn't sound too odd, this is a game now anyway, whats the other thing?"
"Well when we were clearing out those bat corpses, we noticed one that had half of its head cut of, there was something slightly glowing inside his head, we didn't touch it we just moved that bat a bit further from the pile."
"Oh, show me." Spoke Tenebris, Demian walked out the doors and rest of them followed him , Demian took one of the bats on the ground and threw it towards Tenebris.

Tenebris took a closer look and saw a small gem like object inside its head, he stuck his finger in and pulled it out, he was surprised with a sudden pop up.
Shadow orb (s) Common Material Alchemy (25) Smithing (50) Engraving (100)
"Interesting..." Mumbled Tenebris.
"So what is it?" Asked Tanya.
"It looks like some sort of material, it can be used in professions, interesting indeed, did you check other bats for this gems?"
"No, we just noticed this one and didn't even dare to inspect it at all."
"Go check out other bats, gather this if they have it, i will check this bat to find out if it had anything else interesting." Said Tenebris as he crouched down and put that bat on the ground, he took a small pointy knife from his backpack and started dissecting it. After not finding anything interesting he took couple of more bats and started dissecting them too.
Congratulations! For your unique actions your system command "Inspect" has been promoted to active spell "Inspect". Congratulations! For your unique actions you have been awarded title "Butcher".
"What the fuck?!" Swore Tenebris as he looked dazed into his new notifications.
"What is it?" Questioned Diana that happened to be near him.
"Uh, my "Inspect" has been promoted to a spell and i got a new title "Butcher".
"Wow, awesome, what does that title give you?" Asked Demian amazed.
"I don't know, titles!"
Pioneer: Increases experience gained from killing monsters by 10%. Nocturnal Slayer (s): Grants you 10% bonus damage against small sized nocturnal creatures. Butcher: Increases damage done against flesh by 5%.
"It increases my damage against flesh, this is weird."
"It is weird, but hey its a small bonus and it might stack, so its good anyway." Spoke Tanya.
"Anyway, did you guys find any more gems?"
"We did, at least half of those bats had them, and it seems only those level 5 or more had them, so it might have something to do with their level, right?" Answered Demian.
"Yeah, probably, anyway i guess you guys don't have any of the professions required for it anyway, so we will just stash it for later, next subject, let me look at those coins you got."
Demian grabbed couple of coins he had in his pocket and passed it to Tenebris.
Bronze coin (7) Lowest currency

"This looks like new currency this system uses, we will stash this aswell, it might be useful later when we find where to spend them, anything else?" Spoke Tenebris.
"Nope." Everyone answered in unison.
"Okay then, settle down in this room, we will use it as our headquarters, Tomm how long can that generator last?"
"My best guess is a little bit less than two months, if i cut off other rooms and hallway in basement i might have a bit more, half a month or maybe a month more, they aren't that much of a problem as long as we don't use them that much."
"We don't know how long we will be stuck here so lets keep it at minimum, we will turn off all the lights that aren't necessary and only keep our room lit when we need it, any questions?"
"You don't think we will have to be here for couple of months do you?" Asked worriedly Tanya.
"I cant answer you that, first of all we cant leave this place unless we defeat all of its bosses, second, we don't know how many bosses are there any way, third we don't know if we are any survivors other than us here and if they are friendly at all..." Before he could continue speaking Tanya cut him of. "What do you mean we don't know if they are friendly, you mean they might attack us, but why would they do that?"
"First of all, we don't know if there is any others left, and second if there are, yes they might attack us, as for the reason you ask for, well you tell me what can massive counts of deaths and sudden apocalypse do to a persons mind?" Spoke calmly Tenebris, Tanya lowered her head as she realized what he was saying, everyone else did the same.
"Yes this apocalypse is game-like, that's true, but that doesn't mean its an actual game, we might really die here, and there wont be any resurrection or respawn that might revive us, we don't have any actual information at all, we can only prepare for the worst and hope for the best, otherwise you might draw your last breath sooner than you think, are you all aware of that?" As he finished his sentence everyone shivered for a second, before snapping out of their thoughts, looking up at Tenebris and answering "Yes."
"Good, then lets continue."
"But how can you be so calm, people are dying, my family is most likely all dead, our whole classroom might be dead, everyone we know and love might be dead, and still you are so calm, how can you be so calm about it!" Yelled Tanya as she was clearly upset with this whole apocalypse situation.
"And who says I'm calm? Just because i don't shiver or cower I'm calm? You think I'm not scared shitless like everyone other is? But would we all live this long enough if i panicked, where would we be right now if there wasn't at least just a single sane and collected person here? Answer me!" Yelled Tenebris back at Tanya, she was standing there in front of him, her eyes watery full of tears.
"Dead..." Whispered Tanya.
"What did you say, say it louder!"
"Dead. We would most likely be dead." She spoke a little louder, tears finally escaping from her eyes, slowly drifting down her cheeks.
"Exactly, anything else you have to ask?" Asked Tenebris as he calmed himself down.
"But don't you worry about your family, your loved ones?" Added Diana.
"I..." Tenebris started, but went quiet. No one did ever really love me, i don't have a family, everyone i ever loved is either dead or dying... Thought Tenebris for himself, but he knew he couldn't say that out loud, if he did who know what they might start thinking, he needed them to calm down, he knew that he couldn't make it out alive if he doesn't get some help, every game that he ever knew of needed a whole team to defeat a boss, even with his abilities he knows he might not be able to do it alone, so he needed a team, but he cant ever really trust anyone, but he doesn't have to trust them, he just needs them to cooperate.
Yes that's right, i don't need to trust them, nor do i need their trust, i just need their cooperation and that's all!
"That is none of your business, you have your own family to worry about so don't worry about mine!" Answered back Tenebris, scaring back everyone around him a bit, just a moment ago he was one again calm and quiet, and now all of the sudden he was fierce.
