《Moonlit sky》Chapter 9 - Planning next step

As more time passed, more and more bones kept piling up on the floor, their pace kept increasing so in the end they kept rotating between skeletons so they could rest a bit. After a bit more than hour they already killed around 50 skeletons and they collected nice amount of exp, Diana woke up from her meditation and informed Tenebris that she gained another rune. After hearing that Tenebris told them to swipe the floor and pick up any items that dropped while he cleared any incoming skeletons, after clearing everything they went back to the gym where they checked their loot.
"So in total we earned somewhere around 4500 exp, which is nice, what level are you guys now?" Spoke Tenebris with a satisfied smile.
"I'm third level and i need a bit more to get forth level."Answered Demian.
"Same here, i think all of us are the same actually, what level are you Tenebris?" Asked Tanya.
"I'm fifth, need a bit less than half a level to level up again, so what loot did we get?"
"Umm, let's see, we got two bone swords, four health potions, one mana potion and some book." Answered Demian.
"A book? Let me see it!" Spoke Tenebris with his eyes sparkling. "Excellent, this is not just a book, this is a skill book! Check it out!" As he spoke he swiped his arm through the air and blue screen popped up above the skill book.
Tough bones Passively increases defense of the user.
"Well, it looks like it's not so useful, right?" Said confused Demian.
"Oh but it is, especially for you my dear punching bag." Answered Tenebris with a cold smile on his face, Demian seeing his face felt shivers run through him as he mumbled.
"W-w-what d-do you mean?" Fear was evident in his eyes as he stared at Tenebris.
"Well i think proper name in games is tank, but i like punching bag more, and you are a perfect punching bag! Forget what i told you earlier about your attribute distribution, you have a new one now!"
As he said that he took Demian to the side and explained him what was his job from now on, Demian just stood there, misery written all over his face as he paled second by second as he listened to Tenebris.

"Okay, that being solved, blackie what rune did you get?" Spoke Tenebris as he returned to the group, Demian was left there in the back shivering constantly with a pale face.
"Oh yeah, i got rune named "Stream" like a river stream." She answered with a proud look on her face.
"Good, can you cast spells now?" Tenebris asked full of excitement.
"No, not yet, but if i study these runes a bit i think i can figure something out maybe, but for now all i can do is get some water." She answered, that proud look on her face completely wiped out as he stared down to ground, making circles with her feet.
"Well that's something, at least we won't run out of water any time soon. Blondey are those bone swords any good?" He asked as he turned around towards Tanya.
"Well yes, they have almost double damage of my bokken but its durability is really low, here catch." She answered and threw a sword to him.
Bone sword. 10-14 dmg. 10/12 durability.
"Wow, it's like one third of my sword, but it does have some nice damage, we will save it for now, it might be useful later, are those healing and mana potions any good?" Spoke Tenebris as he remembered about potions.
"Yes they are, it's just that they dont instantly regenerate your HP or MP but over couple of seconds, health potions recovers 60 HP for 3 seconds and mana potions recovers 40 MP for 2 seconds." Tanya answered with her shoulders shrugged.
"Good, it might be even better that way, we will see, pass that mana potion to blackie and keep the rest safe, now go get some rest guys, later we will relocate to somewhere better."
"Do you know where?" Asked Diana.
"I got an idea, but i'll have to talk a bit more with your father about it, now go rest." As he said that rest of them went to the corner and sat down, he motioned Tomm to follow him as he went to the entrance of the gym.
"Okay, tell me all you know about school generator, where it is, how much power can it get, how can we get to cafeteria and how do we get to cafeteria storage room?" He turned around and asked Tomm as they stood at the entrance, covered by the pale moonlight.

"Well school generator is located in the basement, there are two entrances to there, one is regular one that is located below the center of the school, and the other one is through the ventilation system that is spread through most of the school, i think i have blueprints for the vent system in my office, we can pick it up later."
"Okay, tell me more about the generator then."
"Well it is an old generator, i don't know if it is still functioning properly but it hasnt been used so i believe there aren't supposed to be any problems, if i rewire it only to the basement it should have enough juice for a month or two perhaps."
"Well that's better than nothing, cafeteria?"
"There are three entrances to cafeteria in total, students entrance, staff entrance and vent system, but staff entrance is located on the outside of the school so i don't advise that one because we would have to do a big detour."
"Yeah i had same thing in mind, most likely we will use the vents to move through the school, what about storage room?"
"Well there is vent system there but it is considerably narrower so i don't think we can use that, and main entrance is locked with the code so we might need to breach through the doors if we cant get our hands on the code..." Tomm answered while he continued pondering.
"Who has that code? Do you know them?"
"Well i know some of them, principal and vice principal have the codes, and so does some of the kitchen staff that uses that storage, if we are lucky we might run into some of them on our way to storage."
"Lets not count on that, who knows how many people are left alive now, maybe we are the only ones, its better if we don't have our hopes high." Tenebris said with a solemn look on his face.
"Yes you are right, you know for someone your age you are surprisingly mature." Tomm commented with a smile on his face.
"Yeah, someone has to be, do you have a phone by the way?"
"Yeah i do, but there is no signal, i already checked."
"I guessed as much, something must have happened to the network when apocalypse started, do you know any other method of communication?"
"Well if its a short distance one we could use walkie talkie, school security might have them, other than that i don't know, ill have to think about it."
"That wont be necessary, lets focus on our current problems, if we go one step at the time there will be less complications."
"Yes you are right, by the way why do you insist on nicknames you gave everyone, you don't seem like you cant remember it, its like you don't even want to know?" Asked Tomm curiously.
"That's because i don't, what benefit do i have of their names, they respond anyway, they might die any moment so whats the point in creating connections if they die the next moment."
"Why do you have so little faith in them, they survived until now, what makes you think they wont be capable of living further than this."
"Its not them, i don't have faith in anyone, they survived till now because they were with me, and its an apocalypse, who know what kind of monster we will run into next, i can only protect myself, better to be safe than sorry..." As he said that a sad glint of light flashed through his eyes, ordinary persons wouldn't have noticed it but Tomm was quite older and more experienced with people so he noticed, a small smile appeared on Tomms face, but he didn't say anything further, he just turned around and went to the rest of them and sat down to rest. Tenebris was left there standing alone at the entrance, looking down in front of himself quietly thinking.
I can't trust them, i was betrayed already, and it was the person that i trusted the most that betrayed me, who says that bunch of kids that i don't even know wont do the same just to save them self...

Delicate as Glass
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Nuri, an [Assistant Glassworker], only has a single Skill. It’s really not fair. He’s worked in the hot shop his entire life, following in his father’s footsteps after his parents passed away, but he’s stuck. Despite possessing above-average talent as an artisan, he still hasn’t shed his [Assistant] status, gained a second Skill, or even leveled enough to reach the first Threshold. Besides, he’s bored; most days he daydreams of adventure and becoming a hero, or pines for the renown that’s sure to be his if he evolves his Class into a [Master Glass Smith], but nothing ever changes—until suddenly, fate strikes, and nothing is ever the same again. These days, Nuri sees more magic, prestige, and adventure than he can handle as he gets swept up in realm-shaking conspiracies and desperate fights for his life. Maybe a boring life wasn’t so bad after all. Disclaimers: 1) Names were mostly chosen through random generators and aren’t necessarily final. If they seem derivative or boring, blame RNG. 2) Skills, Classes, levels, and the entire system is currently a work in progress; please be kind if it’s not very well fleshed out yet. 3) This is the first full-length novel I've set out to write without a single plot point ready. I had nothing in mind other than a recent visit to a hot shop. Molten glass is pretty awesome. 4) Related, I know much less about glass than I’d like. I did some research, but mistakes are bound to happen. If you have a correction, thanks! Please be polite about it. 5) The prose is my experimental attempt at first-person, present tense. I realize it may not be everyone’s preference, but I hope you’ll give it a try anyway!
