Damn it……I can’t sleep. This is the third time I’ve tried to sleep, with no luck. I might as well get up, go for a run maybe, exhaust myself, then I might get some sleep. I got up from my bed and checked my wristwatch, it’s bloody twelve A.M. one hour since dinner. I stood up and wore the shirt I had tossed on my bed before going to sleep, just then I heard another wolf howl.

Awoooooooooo.

I turned to the window, and opened it, to find a wolf standing on a cliff howling to the full moon.

Awoooooooooo.

This time because I was outside it was louder and easy to understand, immediately I changed into a wolf, my grey-white coat shone in the moonlight with hints of black in it, I howled back saying " Awoooo, where are you?"

The wolf gave a piercing howl in return "On the cliff just ahead of you."

With that, I leapt down from my terrace onto the forest floor, which was two thousand feet from the ground, but ever since I had moved to this place, I had been practising jumping from the top of the terrace, it was a simple jump, and my landing was a smooth one. Now to find her. I ran at top speed through the forest, where is she? Damn, I haven’t seen a sight or soul of another wolf in these forests, finally, I hear one and then I lose her. Great, just bloody great.

"To your left."

I swiftly turned to my left and I walked cautiously towards the female wolf on the cliff, for some reason, like me, she could talk through thoughts.

"Who are you?"

Her blue-black fur shone in the moonlight, she looked so imaginary, it felt like a dream "An Alpha female, of the wolf pack I have just inherited, we arrived here last night. My pack’s name is Starlight pack, I suppose, these forests, belong to your pack’s territory?" That comment sounded like she was smiling as if I was a prey she was teasing before killing.

"To be quite honest," I stood tall, obviously becoming taller than her, and I circled her "I’m a lone wolf, this particular direction of the land is mine. The east belongs to another, the west is my father’s territory. I have supreme rule when my father is not able to lead, I lead the pack and I lead this land." I confronted her snout to snout.
